Jos Stelling (born 16 July 1945) is a Dutch film director and screenwriter. He has directed 12 films, and is working on his new film (release date early 2011) The Girl and Death, in which Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks will play the lead role.
He made his debut as a film director in 1974 with ‘Mariken van Nieumegen’. The film was selected for the official Cannes competition in 1975. No Dutch film has been rewarded with this honour since. With this film, Stellings cinematographic position was set worldwide. Yet Stelling is an autodidact; he didn’t study at any film school.
In 1981 he founded the ‘Dutch Film Days’ a festival for Dutch directors to give them the possibility to show their films and to create an informal platform for the filmmakers. He continued to serve as chairman and director until the 1991 edition. After he abdicated the festival was renamed the Dutch Film Festival.
Jos Stelling is founder and owner of two arthouse cinemas in Utrecht, Springhaver (since 1978) & Louis Hartlooper Complex (since 2004).
Joni Mitchell, CC (born Roberta Joan Anderson; November 7, 1943) is a Canadian musician, singer songwriter, and painter. Mitchell began singing in small nightclubs in Saskatchewan and Western Canada and then busking in the streets and dives of Toronto. In 1965 she moved to the United States and, touring constantly, began to be recognized when her original songs ("Urge for Going," "Chelsea Morning," "Both Sides, Now," "The Circle Game") were covered by notable folk singers, allowing her to sign with Reprise Records and record her own debut album in 1968. Settling in Southern California, Mitchell and her popular songs like "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Woodstock" helped define an era and a generation. Her more starkly personal 1971 recording Blue has been called one of the best albums ever made. Musically restless, Mitchell switched labels and began moving toward jazz rhythms by way of lush pop textures on 1974's Court and Spark, her best-selling LP, featuring her radio hits "Help Me" and "Free Man in Paris."
Paul Mark Oakenfold (born 30 August 1963) is an English record producer and a trance DJ.
Paul Oakenfold was set to be a chef, after having hopes of becoming part of a band. He describes his early life as a "bedroom deejay" in a podcasted interview with Vancouver's 24 Hours, stating he grew up listening to The Beatles. Later 21-year-old Oakenfold and Ian Paul moved to 254 West 54th Street. Studio 54's Steve Rubell ran the place and only allowed popular people inside. Oakenfold and Paul used fake passes to sneak into places in New York where they met Maze, Bobby Womack and Bob Marley, whom they also interviewed, claiming to be NME and Melody Maker journalists.
Oakenfold's musical career began in the late 1970s, when he started playing soul in a Covent Garden wine bar. Here, he met Trevor Fung as well as Rumours in London where he played Earth, Wind and Fire and popular British bands. In 1984, he spent several months in New York City's West Harlem. During this time hip-hop was the most popular sound in the area (see 1984 in music). He began breaking into the mainstream as he was working as an A&R man for Champion Records. At that time, he signed DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, as well as Salt-n-Pepa. Oakenfold appeared on the Blue Peter BBC programme for children with a breakdancing crew. He became a promoter and British agent for the Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C.. Since then, he appeared at The Project in Streatham playing soul and jazz music.
Mario Adrián Vázquez (born June 15, 1977) is a Puerto Rican-American singer from The Bronx, New York City. He competed on American Idol's fourth season, which aired on the FOX network in early 2005.
Raised by his single mother, Ada, in the Bronx, Vazquez is an alumnus of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. He was also involved in the CityKids Repertory Company in New York City, which enabled him to travel the country and perform in front of the President and at major charitable functions and shelters. In 2005, he was reunited with his estranged father, Mario Rivera, who discovered that his son was on American Idol while channel surfing. After making it into the final round of twelve contestants on the hit reality show American Idol, Vazquez suddenly dropped out of the competition citing "personal family thing" a few days before the finals started. When the press contacted his mother regarding his decision, she was unaware why he had left the show. There was much speculation about his decision; Vazquez appeared the next morning on "Good Day New York" on WNYW FOX5, and quashed rumors of a feud with "American Idol" producers or any of his competitors. "American Idol was only positive. They were only wonderful to me, from the beginning through the middle, to the end," he told the show. "It had nothing to do with the contract or anything signed with J Records." J Records is the same company that manages Idol winners Ruben Studdard and Fantasia Barrino. Vazquez later said that he wanted more artistic control and creating his own sound, and he felt that he would be more restricted staying on the show. He felt that since he was now known worldwide as a semi-finalist, he could end the competition and go solo. He believed that his musical success would not make a difference whether he quit as a semi-finalist or participated in the finals round. Vazquez was replaced on the show by Nikko Smith, who had previously been voted out.
When I first saw your gallery
I liked the ones of ladies
Then you began to hang up me
You studied to portray me
In ice and greens
And old blue jeans
And naked in the roses
Then you got into funny scenes
That all your work discloses
"Lady, don't love me now I am dead
I am a saint, turn down your bed
I have no heart," that's what you said
You said, "I can be cruel
But let me be gentle with you"
Somewhere in a magazine
I found a page about you
I see that now it's Josephine
Who cannot be without you
I keep your house in fit repair
I dust the portraits daily
Your mail comes here from everywhere
The writing looks like ladies'
"Lady, please love me now, I am dead
I am a saint, turn down your bed
I have no heart," that's what you said
You said, "I can be cruel
But let me be gentle with you"
I gave you all my pretty years
Then we began to weather
And I was left to winter here
While you went west for pleasure
And now you're flying bock this way
Like some lost homing pigeon
They've monitored your brain, you say
And changed you with religion
"Lady, please love me now I was dead
I am no saint, turn down your bed
Lady, have you no heart," that's what you said
Well, I can be cruel
But let me be gentle with you
When I first saw your gallery
I liked the ones of ladies
But now their faces follow me
My building's full of little holes with heads in, staring at the street.
They sometimes topple forwards, then stick at one another, passing freaks.
They rarely speak and though I don't feed them--still they keep their double
(their quadruple) chins. Their garbage bins are emptied each day. By night
waiting with lights off, their cats out, their wives in-- they're PEEPING!
They're peeping at the methylated man who spits in a can, spreads his hands
for silver, pans for gutter gold. He mutters old forgotten songs his father
taught him, rolls on the floor. He rolls in alcoves, gets caught in
waterfalls down rotting walls. (He's bored.) My friends applaud, throw
pennies and wait . . . peeping from the gallery.
[Instrumental]
Come and dance through my vanity's halls
Welcome to my exhibition
Ornaments fall
The fate of my art, condemned
And the creative seed
That grows to the tune of the harvest song
Embody my lifelong passion
Intertwine with the structures of my art
Those empty frames staring at me
One lonely portrait covers the lovestarved canvas
In honour of the birthless rebellion within me
Every picture holds a tale
Every shade tells of a thousand words
The artistry of living chaos
Is pictured in the poets tears
Because everything burns
The final concept
Is all but a thought away
Be gone, you foul enchantress of decay!
My thoughts and words will come to right
In my chamber where chaos conveys
Kneel down to my desire
Deep in the vaults of my carnal agony
Emptiness! Orchestration through colours
The gallery
To never return to my guidance

My name is,
My name is, My name is
My name is, My Name is, My name is
My
Moonlight is falling through the trees,
Alone, desperate and lost.
The gates are opening for me,
Entrance the twilight of the spheres.
I whitnessed a light and the shadows were growing inside,
See the sadness arise, the darkness controlling my mind.
Slowly the path is winding on
Into the moonlight of the sky,
The fear is growing within me,
So cold, my mind is lead astray.
I whitnessed a light and the shadows were growing inside,
See the sadness arise, the darkness controlling my mind.
And as the clouds unfold,
Devouring my emotions... Ascarion...
The darkness is yearning for my soul...
The torture... arrival... gallery...
My... my soul is drawn inside... the gallery...
And as I look beyond the gates
I see reflections of myself.
What will be left when I am gone?
My flesh that's rotting on the ground...
I whitnessed a light and the shadows were growing inside,
Believing in a lie may be right
Not always your eyes see this lie
Across a way of light, I hear distant voices from outside
Facing a strong wind as if I had wings to fly
Screaming aloud can not send me out
Not always there's someone to hear the sound
Drawing me away from the place I was before
Leading me somewhere, this vortex feels like a tug of war
This deep spotlight swallows me
How can I face it?
I'm not scared at all,
I would like to find out...
How did I reach this place?
And why do I have to play this weird game?
Wish I could believe it's just a lie
Break free from this maze and run away
(Vortex)
Anger, envy
Lover, honey
Suffer, sorry
Brother, bloody
Come to the light
Come see what's inside
Now's time to shine
At the stage of your life
Twisting flashes, looking glasses, I get through them
Colorful beams, a big bell dings inside my head
Outer spaces, out of axis, I get through them
Faces calling, mystic warnings will not let me back
Many pictures on the walls flash moments from my life
Children's play in my room, heroes and cartoons
Suddenly a big flash comes, recalls my great nights
Party's on, sexy girls, drink'n smoke, dancin' floor, the big boom!
The visions around me
Make me think
These conditions won't let me
Leave this game
Traveling across the hall of my mind
I'm drawn towards a face I want to leave behind
Drawing now closer to the last picture on the wall
Then I'm forced in, and in the distance
I hear my father's call
This deep spotlight dazzles me
Now I can face it,
I'm not afraid at all
And I will find out...
How did I reach this place?
And why do I have to play this weird game?
Wish I could believe it's just a lie
