Shin-ichiro Miki (三木 眞一郎, Miki Shin'ichirō, born March 18, 1968 in Tokyo) is a Japanese voice actor. He is a member of 81 Produce.
Miki is most known for the roles of Kojirō ("James") (Pokémon), Takumi Fujiwara ("Tak") (Initial D), Kisuke Urahara (Bleach), Akira Yuki (Virtua Fighter), Lockon Stratos (Mobile Suit Gundam 00), and Roy Mustang (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood).
Miki is also a singer with the four-man band Weiß, along with Takehito Koyasu, Tomokazu Seki, and Hiro Yūki, the four main voice actors of Weiß Kreuz. Miki is also very active in BL dramas. He won Best Actors in supporting roles in the 4th Seiyu Awards. He often gets cast as handsome, young men in anime roles, the most notable being Kojirō ("James") in the Pokémon anime.
As well as voicing Kojirō ("James") in the Japanese language version of Pokémon, Miki, like most of the Japanese voice actors, including Mika Kanai, Satomi Kōrogi, and Unshō Ishizuka, also appears in the Japanese and English language versions, where he plays Misty's Staryu, Brock's Zubat/Golbat, Crobat, and also Ash's Charizard.
Voice acting is the art of doing voice-overs or providing voices for animated characters in various works, including feature films, dubbed foreign language films, animated short films, television programs, commercials, radio or audio dramas, comedy, video games, puppet shows, amusement rides, audiobooks and documentaries. Voice acting is also done for small handheld audio games.
Performers are called voice actors or actresses, voice artists or voice talent. Their roles may also involve singing, although a second voice actor is sometimes cast as the character's singing voice. Voice acting is recognized in Britain as a specialized dramatic profession, chiefly owing to the BBC's long tradition of radio drama.
Voice artists are also used to record the individual sample fragments played back by a computer in an automated announcement.
Voice actors provide voices for animated characters.
For live action production, voice acting often involves reading the parts of computer programs, radio dispatchers, or other characters who never actually appear on screen.
Roy Mustang (ロイ・マスタング, Roi Masutangu) is a fictional character from the Fullmetal Alchemist manga series and its adaptations created by Hiromu Arakawa. He first appears as 29 in the series, born on May 31 in 1885. In the series, Mustang is a State Alchemist of Amestris' State Military as well as the superior of the series' protagonist, Edward Elric. Mustang holds the title of the "Flame Alchemist" (焔の錬金術師, Honō no Renkinjutsushi) for his ability to create fire with alchemy, and he ambitiously strives to become the next leader of Amestris. Despite his ambition, as the series continues, Mustang decides to overthrow the State Military after his best friend, Maes Hughes, is killed by the homunculi, who are controlling the Military. Therefore, with his most trusted comrades, he resolves to defeat the Military.
Besides his appearances in the manga and the anime, Mustang has also been featured in other media from the series such as Makoto Inoue's light novels, the original video animations and the Fullmetal Alchemist video games. Since his introduction in the manga series, Mustang has been well received by readers, appearing second in each popularity poll from the series. His character has also received praise in various outside media, with many of them focusing on his character and development in both manga and anime.
Fullmetal Alchemist (Japanese: 鋼の錬金術師, Hepburn: Hagane no Renkinjutsushi, lit. "Alchemist of Steel") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. It was serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Shōnen Gangan magazine between August 2001 and June 2010; the publisher later collected the individual chapters into twenty-seven tankōbon volumes. The world of Fullmetal Alchemist is styled after the European Industrial Revolution. Set in a fictional universe in which alchemy is one of the most advanced scientific techniques, the story follows the Elric brothers Edward and Alphonse, who are searching for a philosopher's stone to restore their bodies after a failed attempt to bring their mother back to life using alchemy.
The manga was published in English by Viz Media in North America, Madman Entertainment in Australasia, and Chuang Yi in Singapore. It has been adapted into two anime television series, two animated films—all animated by Bones studio—and light novels. Funimation dubbed both television series and films into English and released them for North America; these were distributed in other regions by several other companies. Viz Media localized the light novels, and Funimation and Destineer have localized the video games. Original video animations, video games, supplementary books, collectible card game and a variety of action figures and other merchandise have been based on the series' characters.
The Bleach manga and anime series features an extensive cast of characters created by Tite Kubo. The series takes place in a fictional universe in which the characters are divided into various factionalized fictional races. All these races are subdivisions of humanity, but are distinguished by whether they live on earth or in one of the afterlives, by possession of thematically contrasting supernatural powers, and by the use of aesthetics drawn from the artistic traditions of different real-life regions.
The main character of Bleach is a Japanese teenager named Ichigo Kurosaki who has the ability to interact with ghosts. He is visited one day by a spirit named Rukia Kuchiki, who is a Soul Reaper from the Soul Society whose mission is deal with hungering lost souls known as Hollows. When he sees Rukia getting grievously wounded by a Hollow in his presence, Ichigo is granted her powers of exorcism and psychopompy to carry out Rukia's Soul Reaper duties as she recovers. As Ichigo guides the recently deceased to the afterlife while contending with Hollows, he clashes and forms alliances with the other supernaturally powered residents of his city, namely three of his high school classmates.
