Fist of Legend is a 1994 Hong Kong martial arts action film directed by Gordon Chan, featuring action choreography by Yuen Woo-ping, and produced by and starring Jet Li. It is a remake of the 1972 film Fist of Fury, which starred Bruce Lee as the lead character. The film is set in Shanghai International Settlement in 1937 during the Second Sino-Japanese War as the city is occupied by Japanese forces.
Chen Zhen (Jet Li) is attending class in Kyoto University when some Japanese karate students from the Black Dragon Clan burst in and attempt to force him out because he is Chinese. Mitsuko Yamada (Shinobu Nakayama), one of Chen's female classmates who has a crush on him, along with Chen's professor and other students, speak up for him. The thugs turn violent but Chen easily defeats them using a variety of controlled Chin Na techniques. The Japanese thugs' sensei, Funakochi Fumio (Yasuaki Kurata), who is also Mitsuko's uncle, arrives to take control of the situation and apologizes for his students' behavior. Fumio is impressed by Chen's skill and converses with him, and Chen learns that his master Huo Yuanjia has died after losing in a match against a Japanese martial artist. Chen is distraught after hearing the bad news and he leaves for Shanghai immediately.
Li Lianjie ([lì ljǎntɕjɛ̌]; born April 26, 1963), better known by his stage name Jet Li, is a naturalized Singaporean film actor, film producer, Chinese martial artist, wushu champion, and international star who was born in Beijing.
After three years of intensive training with Wu Bin, Li won his first national championship for the Beijing Wushu Team. After retiring from Wushu at age 19, he went on to win great acclaim in China as an actor making his debut with the film Shaolin Temple (1982). He went on to star in many critically acclaimed martial arts epic films, most notably the Once Upon A Time In China series, in which he portrayed folk hero Wong Fei-hung.
Li's first role in a Hollywood film was as a villain in Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), but his first Hollywood film leading role was in Romeo Must Die (2000). He has gone on to star in many Hollywood action films, including Kiss of the Dragon and Unleashed. He co-starred in The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) with Jackie Chan, The Expendables (2010) with Sylvester Stallone, and as the title character villain in The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor (2008) opposite Brendan Fraser. He also appeared in the Hong Kong film Ocean Heaven (2010), directed and written by Xue Xiaolu.
Billy Chow (born Chow Bei-lei August 24, 1958 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada), (also credited as Billy Chau and Billy Chow Bei-lei) is a Canadian born-Hong Kong actor, martial artist, and entrepreneur. He is the former world kickboxing champion. Chow is perhaps best known for his role as General Fujita in 1994 film Fist of Legend and Wong, Great Kick of the North in 1996 film Tai Chi Boxer.
Chow was the WKA super welterweight kickboxing champion of the world from 1984 to 1986, his final match came on November 20, 2007, in which he lost via decision to Akarn Sanehha of Thailand.
In 1980s, Chow played third member of General’s Elite Soldier in 1987 film Eastern Condors alongside Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao and Yuen Woo-ping. Chow played Thug in both Jackie Chan movies they were 1988 film Dragons Forever and 1989 film Miracles.
In 1990s, Chow had three Jet Li movies they were 1994 film Fist of Legend as General Fujita, and 1995 film Meltdown as Kong, and 1996 film Dr. Wai in "The Scripture with No Words" as Chan / Japanese Embassy Guard. Chow played Jade Tiger’s Brother in 1995 film Iron Monkey 2 alongside Donnie Yen. Chow played Wong, Great Kick of the North in 1996 film Tai Chi Boxer along with Jacky Wu.
Chin Siu Ho (born January 26, 1963) is a Hong Kong actor and martial artist, notable for acting with Jet Li in The Tai-Chi Master and Fist of Legend. He is the older brother of actor Chin Kar-lok.
