GM Holden Ltd, commonly known as Holden, is an Australian automaker that operates in Australasia and is headquartered in Port Melbourne, Victoria. The company was founded in 1856 as a saddlery manufacturer in South Australia. In 1908 it moved into the automotive field, before becoming a subsidiary of the United States-based General Motors (GM) in 1931. After becoming a subsidiary of GM, the company was named General Motors-Holden's Ltd, becoming Holden Ltd in 1998—the current name was adopted in 2005.
Holden is responsible for GM vehicle operations in Australasia, and on their behalf, held partial ownership of GM Daewoo in South Korea between 2002 and 2009. Holden has offered a broad range of locally produced vehicles, supplemented by imported GM models. Holden has offered the following badge engineered models in sharing arrangements: Chevrolet, Isuzu, Nissan, Opel, Suzuki, Toyota and Vauxhall Motors. As of 2013, the vehicle lineup consists of models from GM Korea, GM Thailand, GM in the US, and self-developed Commodore, Caprice, and Ute. Holden also distributed the European Opel brand in Australia in 2012 until the brand's Australian demise in mid-2013.
William Holden (April 17, 1918 – November 12, 1981) was an American actor who was one of the biggest box office draws of the 1950s through the 1970s. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1953 for his role in Stalag 17, and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for his role in the 1973 television film The Blue Knight.
Holden starred in some of Hollywood's most popular and critically acclaimed films, including such blockbusters as Sunset Boulevard, Sabrina, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Wild Bunch, Picnic, The Towering Inferno, and Network. He was named one of the "Top 10 Stars of the Year" six times (1954–1958, 1961), and appeared as 25th on the American Film Institute's list of 25 greatest male stars of Classic Hollywood Cinema.
Holden was born William Franklin Beedle, Jr. in O'Fallon, Illinois, the son of Mary Blanche (née Ball; 1898-1990), a schoolteacher, and William Franklin Beedle, Sr. (1891-1967), an industrial chemist. He had two younger brothers, Robert and Richard. Holden's paternal great-grandmother, Rebecca Westfield, was born in England in 1817, while some of his mother's ancestors settled in Virginia's Lancaster County after emigrating from England in the 17th century. His younger brother, Robert W. "Bobbie" Beedle, became a U.S. Navy fighter pilot and was killed in action in World War II, over New Ireland, on January 5, 1944.
Marilyn Pauline Novak, professionally known as Kim Novak (born February 13, 1933), is a retired American film and television actress.
She began her career in 1954 after signing with Columbia Pictures. There, she became a successful actress, starring in a string of movies, among them the critically acclaimed Picnic (1955). She later starred in such popular successes as The Man with the Golden Arm (1955) and Pal Joey (1957). However, she is perhaps best known today for her "dual role" as both Judy Barton and Madeleine Elster in Alfred Hitchcock's classic thriller Vertigo (1958). Novak was popular in box office popularity polls, and she starred opposite several top leading men of the era, including James Stewart, William Holden, Frank Sinatra, Tyrone Power, and Kirk Douglas.
Although still young, her career declined in the early 1960s, and after several years in a series of lackluster films, she withdrew from acting in 1966. She has only sporadically returned since. She later returned to the screen in The Mirror Crack'd (1980), and had a regular role on the prime time series Falcon Crest (1986–87). After a disappointing experience during the filming of Liebestraum (1991), she has permanently retired from acting, citing she has no desire to return.

Part 1. Beyond our natural beauty, Tennessees bounty includes homegrown green gardens and local goods, and when Nashville Chef Hal Holden-Bache began seeking out this local fare, he took it seriously. With Gator Harrison at his side, Chef Hal enlisted a long lineup of all sorts of local groceries to deliver a set of intriguing and delicious, yet surprisingly doable dishes
From the 1955 film "Picnic" starring William Holden and Kim Novak. Here, sexy hobo Hal Carter (Holden) tells a hard-luck story of how he got taken for all his money by, essentially, a liquored-up and rape-y Thelma & Louise. "Hey Beefcake! Get in!... So I got in." Don't hate him because he's beautiful, poor hot Hal can't catch a break! As he says, "women are gettin' desperate!" sexy Hal Carter - played by sexy William Holden Alan Benson - played by Cliff Robertson I don't own this, "Picnic" was a Columbia Pictures release from 1955. I'm posting here solely for the purposes of reviewing the problems of an over-sexed attractive homeless man. ;)

William Holden & Kim Novak dance, from the movie "Picnic." I love this scene from the movie "Picnic" from director Josh Logan, released in 1955, based on the play by William Inge. I've always identified, for whatever reason, with the character Hal Carter that Holden played in this film. So many great lines in "Picnic." "You don't love someone because they're perfect, Mom." Who hasn't thought that at one time or another in their lives? William Holden and Kim Novak were great in this, even though Holden thought he was too old to play the part of Hal. I heard he had to drink quite a bit to get up the nerve to do the "Moonglow" dancing scene in this clip. So memorable. So perfect. This clip appears courtesy of BFM Digital and IODA. The movie "Picnic" is owned and licensed by B...
Cory Friedman woke up one morning when he was five years old with the uncontrollable urge to twitch his neck. From that day forward his life became a hell of irrepressible tics and involuntary utterances, and Cory embarked on an excruciating journey from specialist to specialist to discover the cause of his disease. Soon it became unclear what tics were symptoms of his disease and what were side effects of the countless combinations of drugs. The only certainty is that it kept getting worse. Simply put: Cory Friedman's life was a living hell. AGAINST MEDICAL ADVICE is the true story of Cory and his family's decades-long battle for survival in the face of extraordinary difficulties and a maddening medical establishment. It is a heart-rending story of struggle and triumph with a climax as...

For 50 years, David Johansen has lived a life in music and, “with his exaggerated pompadour, crocodile grin, and raw Tom Waits growl, he’s still having the time of his life,” wrote The New York Times’ Stephen Holden after one of his recent Café Carlyle shows. He talks about that life, New York then and now, what’s “authentic” in music, and if it matters, with NY1’s Budd Mishkin. Recorded on September 21, 2015 at 92nd Street Y.
