Malays (Malay: Melayu Jawi: ملايو) are an ethnic group of Austronesian people predominantly inhabiting the Malay Peninsula including the southernmost parts of Thailand, south coast Myanmar and island of Singapore, coastal Indonesian including east of Sumatra, coastal Borneo, including Brunei, coastal Sarawak and Sabah, and the smaller islands which lie between these locations. These locations today is part of the modern nations of Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Southern Myanmar, Southern Thailand and Western Indonesia.
Today, the common identity that binds Malay people together is their language (with variant of dialects exist among them), Islam and their culture; although in the past Malay people were largely animist and Hindu-Buddhist before conversion to Islam took place in the 15th century. Malay culture has a number of similarities with cultures of neighboring ethnic groups, such as those of Minang culture, Aceh, and to some degree Javanese culture; however it differs by being more overtly Islamic than the Javanese culture which is more multi-religious.
Bengkulu (Besemah, Pesemah), or Central Malay, is a language spoken on Indonesian island of Sumatra, around the city of Bengkulu.
Bengkulu (also known as Southwest Sumatra) is a province of Indonesia. It is on the southwest coast of the island of Sumatra, and borders the provinces of West Sumatra, Jambi, South Sumatra and Lampung. The capital and largest city is Bengkulu city. It was formerly the site of a British garrison, which they called Bencoolen. The province also includes Enggano Island.
The province had a population of 1,455,500 at the 2000 census., rising to 875,663 males and 837,730 females recorded in the 2010 census
The English East India Company established a pepper-trading center and garrison at Bengkulu (Bencoolen) in 1685. In 1714 the British built Fort Marlborough in the city, which still stands. The trading post was never financially profitable for the British, hampered by a location which Europeans found unpleasant, and by an inability to find sufficient pepper to buy.
Despite these difficulties, the British persisted, maintaining their presence for 150 years before ceding it to the Dutch as part of the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824 to focus attention on Malacca. Like the rest of Indonesia, Bengkulu remained a Dutch colony until after World War II.
Bengkulu is a city on the west coast of Sumatra in Indonesia. With a population of 308,756 (2010 Census), the city is the capital and largest city of Bengkulu province.
In the seventeenth century, the Lampung region of southern Sumatra was under the possession of the kingdom of Banten in western Java. It was a major producer of pepper.
In 1682, a troup of the Dutch East India Company attacked Banten. The crown prince, who had headed the government submitted to the Dutch, recognized him as Sultan. The Dutchman expelled all other Europeans present in Banten. As a result the British withdrew and the British East India Company founded Bengkulu as a commercial establishment (named Bencoolen) in 1685.
In 1714, the British built Fort Marlborough. However, it was never financially viable, because of its remoteness and the difficulty in procuring pepper. Despite these difficulties, the British persisted, maintaining the presence there for 150 years before ceding it to the Dutch as part of the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824 to focus attention on Malacca. Like the rest of present-day Indonesia, Bengkulu remained a Dutch colony until after World War II.
So you think I've come alive, got my head out on the outside.
Yeah, I've worn you like a brick, yeah, now I'm sick.
I move in time, I hear your face, it's all over the place.
And everything I sing and do, f**k you.
I hear you've got a brand new beau, I hear he's lovely, white as snow.
He moves in time, he moves real nice,
I swear to God that's my advice,
it really makes the world unstick, yeah.
Mama taught me how to dance and pray, and I said okay.
Then, you made me feel like I was dead, maybe it's just in my head.
I've gone blind, I'm loosing teeth,
yeah I would never kiss your ass, I don't know where it's at.
If I could live I'd be the one, I would live and toll on,
The complete derelicts in my life, I'm being really nice.
who pissed on himself punching at a clock,
I can't believe I'm a dirty old man
Yeah I've healed.
Yeah I've healed.
Yeah.
screaming at the world I've healed.
Yeah.
Yeah, healed.
Lee Gorton :
I didn't know what I never like
His looking at me like you have something to hide
If I would have said I would have known
You're trying to run while I'm trying to grow
How does it feel are you dying inside
Trying to cover up, these's no reply
I don't know what you know
I don't know what you know
I wanna say what every knows
You're buying the lie but you're selling your soul
Why would you say you want us to lose
You're looking at me but you see what you choose
'Cause I don't agree with everyone else
You're changing the rules
But you're cheating yourself
I don't know what you know
Though I know why the wind blows cold on you
Sloping away and I'm sure you're inside
I have nothing to lose and nothing to hide
Too many people living alone
Take a look at yourself
And then check what you know
How does it feel are you dying inside
Trying to cover up, these's no reply
I don't know what you know
I don't know what you know
I gotta feeling that you're looking to find
May be some kind of meaning
But I have nothing in mind
Why would you side with anyone else
When you're figuring out
What you're thinking yourself
How will you learn when
You don't want to know
How does it feel to
Believing in everything you're told
I don't know what you know
