Staff writer Tim Cato reports:
The city of Arlington will begin targeted ground spraying Tuesday after a mosquito tested positive for the West Nile virus.
The mosquito was trapped near Arkansas Lane at Lakewood Drive. The spraying will take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the area near Lake Arlington. City workers will use a chemical insecticide recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, city officials said.
City officials urged residents to take precautions to keep from contracting the virus: drain all standing water; dress in light-colored, long sleeve clothing when outdoors; use mosquito repellents that contain Deet; and avoid outdoor activities during these hours when mosquitoes are most active.
Mosquitos are still alive in late october? thank you global warming!
