A soap opera, sometimes called "soap" for short, is an ongoing, episodic work of dramatic fiction presented in serial format on radio or as television programming. The name soap opera stems from the original dramatic serials broadcast on radio that had soap manufacturers, such as Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive and Lever Brothers, as sponsors and producers. These early radio series were broadcast in weekday daytime slots, usually five days a week, when most listeners would be housewives; thus the shows were aimed at and consumed by a predominantly female audience.
A crucial element that defines soap opera is the open-ended nature of the narrative, with stories spanning several episodes. The defining feature that makes a television program a soap opera, according to Albert Moran, is "that form of television that works with a continuous open narrative. Each episode ends with a promise that the storyline is to be continued in another episode".
Soap opera stories run concurrently, intersect and lead into further developments. An individual episode of a soap opera will generally switch between several different concurrent story threads that may at times interconnect and affect one another or may run entirely independent of each other. Each episode may feature some of the show's current storylines but not always all of them. Especially in daytime serials and those that are screened each weekday, there is some rotation of both storyline and actors so any given storyline or actor will appear in some but usually not all of a week's worth of episodes. Soap operas rarely bring all the current storylines to a conclusion at the same time. When one storyline ends there are several other story threads at differing stages of development. Soap opera episodes typically end on some sort of cliffhanger, and the Season Finale ends in the same way, only to be resolved when the show returns for the start of a new yearly broadcast.
Stephen Nichols (born February 19, 1951) is an American actor, most notable for his roles on American daytime soap operas. He played the part of Steve (Patch) Johnson on NBCs Days of our Lives from 1985-1990; after that, he had a stint on ABC's General Hospital as Stefan Cassadine from 1996-2003. He returned to the role of Steve (Patch) Johnson on Days of our Lives in June 2006 after 16 years, remaining through February 2009. He is now playing the role of Tucker McCall on The Young and the Restless.
After turning down an art scholarship to Ohio State University, he traveled west, studied yoga and lived as a monk while preparing vegetarian meals for the monks and nuns in a Hollywood ashram. After three years of celibacy, a steady diet of ice cream and the films of Truffaut and Bergman, he landed at the Theater Academy of Los Angeles City College where he studied for two years. Nichols went on to study with Stella Adler, Jack Colvin and Harry Mastrorgeorge.
For his stage work, Nichols has been honored with three Drama-Logue Awards and two LA Weekly Theater Awards for his performances in such notable productions as Pieces of Time (for his portrayal of real-life killer, Donald Bashor), for Delirious (directed by the late Ron Link), and as Jim Morrison in the last thirty-six hours of his life in The Lizard King. Nichols also appeared at LATC in Rick Clutchey's The Cage, in the award winning production of Michael Cristofer's The Shadow Box at Theater East and Love Letters, during its initial run at the Canon Theater. Most recently Nichols appeared in He Hunts at the Geffen Playhouse and was seen in the U.S. première of Joe Pintaro's The Dead Boy, for which Nichols received a Maddy Award.
Wilma Jeanne Cooper (born October 25, 1928), best known as Jeanne Cooper, is an American actress best known for her portrayal of Katherine Chancellor on the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless. Though she was not on the series when the show debuted in March 1973, she made her onscreen debut in November of that year, and remains the longest-tenured actor on The Young and the Restless.
Cooper began her career in the 1950s. Her first starring role was as Myra in 1953's western The Redhead from Wyoming. She also appeared as a player in films with stars like Maureen O'Hara, Glenn Ford, Tony Curtis, and Henry Fonda. Cooper was a fixture on episodic television throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
In 1965, she appeared in the western television series The Big Valley as Elaine Baxter Jason, a mercantile store owner and an old friend of Victoria Barkley. In another episode she appears as Heath's money-hungry aunt. Her husband was portrayed by John Anderson, who years later became known as MacGyver's often quoted grandfather, Harry Jackson.

The only time I flirt with her
Not to be V.I.

Be watched by the P.I.'s
See why we can't finish together
I'd rather do buisness than pleasure and thats real!
If only you...could let me in

If only I...could rap to you
I know this love...would capture you, yeah!
I was a ghost from outer space
Alien to the human race
I felt a tear inside my chest
Love at first sight I was obsessed
Now I am dancing in the rain
and I just hope she knows my name
I finaly feel alive
I want to look into your eyes
I want to sail between your thighs
I want to grab you by the tail and pray to God my hands don' fail
I want to be with you the most
Be near you like the Holy Ghost
I finally feel alive
I want to push it out
I want to scream and shout
I want to push it out
You make me feel like heaven is here tonight
You led me to light
Cause its real and I feel if I died I'd be all right
You made me turn another page
Open me up to better days
I hope you hear just how I feel,
so we can really make this real
I want to live tonight
(R.J. Johnson/The Honeyrods)
I lost your room keys so sue me
would you be interested
in hearing what I have to say for myself
and after all the confusion
illusions seem to say
you're going to be a soap opera star
You're instamatic not static
to get what you reach for
you're a piece of work, yes you are
Always a big deal, what you feel
so be real with us now
we know those day time spots taught you how
to be right now
so show us how
was it really that bad
was it really that bad
after all that you said
after all that you did
I felt you lips when you kissed me
amazing just to see
you're a superstar, forget TV
Forget the numbers and faces
remember who you are
we still love our sop opera star
you're spectacular
