A little overweight man has been invited by a friendly couple to a posh restaurant. They have just finished dinner and he keeps on complaining, that any other human being is doing better than himself and that fate obviously denies him a happy life professionally and emotionally. Attending to their own problems, the interpersonal relations of the patrons at adjacent tables become a little troublesome, too, and tension seems to rise. Although the guest are not related over the borders of their tables, all of them are forced by their roles and status to indulge into a social interaction, whose atrocious outcome happens to be inevitable, even you wouldn't have thought so, based on the everyday life situation.

Plot
As Colonel Nutt is experimenting with explosives, a new janitor is joining his household. The inept janitor proceeds to make life difficult for the rest of staff. We discussed Chapter 7 – "I Call That Man Religious – Healing the Universal Heart: Becoming Intimate with That Which Is Foreign," of our text, "We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For: Inner Light in a Time of Darkness - Meditations," by Alice Walker. Labeeb A. Hameed served as the evening's moderator, and was joined by co-hosts L. Michelle Odom and Randie Henderson, and members Georgette Moses, Venita Goines Walker and Joel Jones. Here Walker explores what it means to care for people who are different from us in some way (like Saartjie Baartman); as well as what is involved in getting to know new people - foreigners. She discusses traveling and moving beyond gender and racial divides (or taboos), as methods of knowing people who at first may appear unknowable or forbidden to us in some way. She believes that when we know them and see all we have in common, (including the Mother of Humanity), it will be much harder to kill or enslave them or turn a blind eye as they are killed or enslaved in our names. Ultimately, we will gain the capacity to bring peace to the world and a new religion that honors our true nature. Examples of people who have developed this capacity to care for others - or whom she identifies as religious people - include Fidel Castro and Jimmy Carter. --------------------------------------------------------------- Session 2 of The National Black Feminists Book Group began on August 19th, 2014, reading Alice Walker's book, 'We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting for: Inner Light in a Time of Darkness,' with members L.
