Russell: I clean up, grab a beer, go sit in the ol' rockin' chair and watch TV. You know, I haven't paid that bill in over a year. All I get is white noise. It's like ants fighting... I sit there every night watching ants fighting until I fall asleep... and in the morning I get up and do it all over again... and that's all there is. I got nothing left... but white noise.
Plot
Ph.D. candidates Brett, Kimberly and Caleb make a major breakthrough in quantum computer architecture. While testing their new computer design in the university lab, they experience ghastly visions and sensations. Brett finds refuge and contemplation outside the laboratory in the campus conservatory, playing the piano. Here he also meets up with girlfriend Isabelle, a haunted, brooding music prodigy. The piano is the film's central metaphor; an instrument of empathy, which - the young researchers quickly realize - is also true of their new computing device. Its lurid effects place Brett and Caleb under an intoxicating spell. Meanwhile, other students connected to the research have gone missing. Brett turns to the mysterious, stoic Nikolas for some insight into unfolding events. Yet Nikolas' cryptic clues seem only to push Brett and team into even darker corridors of the soul. Kimberly tries to reign her fellow students back to sanity, but it may be too late for all.

Swink Sylvania: Bitch, that's cheating! I'm not even dead yet!
October Bantum: Somebody ran my brother down in a horse-drawn carriage. I'm gonna find whoever did it, and hurt them.
October Bantum: You know Phin? The problem with your mouth is that stupid, insensitive shit comes out of it.
[last lines]::October Bantum: Go fuck yourself!
Phineus Bantum: I don't know what it is, man, I'm scared, I'm freaking out man, there's something OUT here - is that Abby? Wassup Mama?
October Bantum: If you had any less sense, you'd be half a penny.

October: Ten Days That Shook the World (Russian: Октябрь (Десять дней, которые потрясли мир); translit. Oktyabr': Desyat' dney kotorye potryasli mir) is a Soviet silent film premiered in 1928 by Sergei Eisenstein, sometimes referred to simply as October in English. It is a celebratory dramatization of the 1917 October Revolution. The title is taken from John Reed's book on the Revolution, Ten Days That Shook The World.
October was one of two films commissioned by the Soviet government to honour the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution (the other was Vsevolod Pudovkin's The End of St. Petersburg). Eisenstein was chosen to head the project due to the international success he had achieved with The Battleship Potemkin in 1925 . Nikolai Podvoisky, one of the troika who led the storming of the Winter Palace was responsible for the commission. The scene of the storming was based more on the 1920 re-enactment involving Lenin and thousands of Red Guards, witnessed by 100,000 spectators, than the original occasion, which was far less photogenic. This scene is notable because it became the legitimate, historical depiction of the storming of the Winter Palace owing to the lack of print or film documenting the actual event, which led historians and filmmakers to use Eisenstein's recreation. This illustrates October's success as a propaganda film.
October
And the trees are stripped bare
Of all they wear
What do I care
October
And kingdoms rise
And kingdoms fall
I can't run anymore,
I fall before you,
Here I am,
I have nothing left,
Though I've tried to forget,
You're all that I am,
Take me home,
I'm through fighting it,
Broken,
Lifeless,
I give up,
You're my only strength,
Without you,
I can't go on,
Anymore,
Ever again.
My only hope,
(All the times I've tried)
My only peace,
(To walk away from you)
My only joy,
My only strength,
(I fall into your abounding grace)
My only power,
My only life,
(And love is where I am)
My only love.
I can't run anymore,
I give myself to you,
I'm sorry,
I'm sorry,
In all my bitterness,
I ignored,
All that's real and true,
All I need is you,
When night falls on me,
I'll not close my eyes,
I'm too alive,
And you're too strong,
I can't lie anymore,
I fall down before you,
I'm sorry,
I'm sorry.
My only hope,
(All the times I've tried)
My only peace,
(To walk away from you)
My only joy,
My only strength,
(I fall into your abounding grace)
My only power,
My only life,
(And love is where I am)
My only love.
Constantly ignoring,
The pain consuming me,
But this time it's cut too deep,
I'll never stray again.
My only hope,
(All the times I've tried)
My only peace,
(To walk away from you)
My only joy,
My only strength,
(I fall into your abounding grace)
My only power,
My only life,
(And love is where I am)
My only love,
My only hope,
(All the times I've tried)
My only peace,
(To walk away from you)
My only joy,
My only strength,
(I fall into your abounding grace)
My only power,
My only life,
(And love is where I am)
i woke up screaming
just the other night
awakened by another dream
i thought back to '80
thinking what would've happened
if everything wasn't how it seemed
ten years the lie survives
fucking with american lives
reduced to pawns in a power play
too long they've suffered
not for america
just for a lead on election day
my october my america
running out of time
my october my america
Dawn awaits a sleepless, English town
Of coloured gray
Here I roam the streets without you
As summer fades away
...down in the city at nights
The cold wind blows
Wherever you may be right now
It must be getting late
You're probably asleep already
I am wide awake
...down in the city at nights
"Don't be lonely"
so you've told me
But don't you worry now
Loneliness can be ignored
And time has shown me how
... down in the city at nights
I'm missing you so much
Down in the city
I'm telling you this is too good to be true when the most we have to do is open windows so just let your worries drown in a smile man lose that frown yeah we'll both still be around come the morning when summer ends she just want's to be friends her mind's mixed up got a year to go til next october to make sure the season's not over get me straight and get me sober again are you joking we got almost everything you don't pay that bird to sing out the daytime and the sun sets on the beach I could swear it's trying to reach with two golden hands as if to try and touch you
Leaves are shaking in the wind
Some let go and drift within
Others just lose their green
From bloodred to tangerine
Beautiful colours I have seen
And it feels so obscene
Flies are gathering on my knees
The wind it shakes the autumn leaves
I love the heat when I am cold
When I give up I receive gold
I cannot laugh at your bad jokes
'cause I awoke from a hushaby
Summers over with a sigh in the sky
With a sigh in the sky.....
Flies are gathering on my knees
The wind it shakes the autumn leaves
And I am so amused to see
That both of them will leave
Both of them will leave
Everyone will sing songs of lost mothers
Every debt will be paid in the end
Lives lived will be brought back into focus
As each one looses the place where it begins
Please tell them I said I'm sorry
I knew not all that I did
This message carried hopefully will carry
Much more weight than words of men down here
Feel your losses you'll know that it's October
Stretched out short days eat you from within
Lives lived brought back homeward
I'm leaving home again
Please tell me it's not the last time
Though that day awaits keep it far from here
There's still much work we've to get done
October, October
The summer is over
I'm going through changes
I see you again
It's so thought provoking
Emotion evoking
I can't turn around
I don't want to pretend
You stand in my way
With nothing to say
You think you're the world
I'm so lost without you
I'm sorry my friend
This is not the end
I'll do it without you
I'll do it again
October, October
The summer is over
I'm moving in circles
I'm trying to come in
It's my evolution
The only solution
The torment it's all that
I'm holding within
You stand in my way
With nothing to say
You think you're the world
I'm so lost without you
I'm sorry my friend
This is not the end
I'll do it without you
I'll do it again
You stand in my way
You've nothing to say
You think you're the world
I'm so lost without you
I'm sorry my friend
This is not the end
I'll do it without you
I'll do it again
Don't stand in my way
With nothing to say
And think you're the world
I'm so lost without you
I'm sorry my friend
This is not the end
I'll do it without you
Make her a flower in late December
When the sun is not shining on her
Write her a love song and play it all day long
To remind her of all that she is worth
Never, never leave her
Take her on long drives for ice cream by sea sides
And give her your coat when she is cold
Tell her you miss her, when you're close enough to kiss her
And that you'd walk a thousand miles to tell her so
But never, never, leave her
Take photographs of her on Brooklyn street in October
When her nervous smile is slightly curved
Some days when she is slightly down tell her it's okay to frown
It makes you just fall more in love with her
Though at first I thought it true
I'd be fine if no one knew
They all said he's too clever
Then I grew to know the game
Knew I'd never be the same
Come with me and live forever
In October
Nothing's ever the same
In October
They'll all remember my name
In the night I come to call
Down a dimly lighted hall
And I step through your door
Though you don't believe it's true
I have cast a spell on you
As you cry and beg for more
Come the night, shadows fall
Solo flight, it's curtain call
Don't even try I'll always win
Cos it's my job to do you in
You know my name, I turn away
I'll just be back another day
Be it here or at your grave
May you always have your soul to save
Just one more moment left
To taste the sweetness of your neck
Then I'll be on my final flight
You know you have no control
Even I need someone to hold
When you're scared of the light
I've been around for centuries
Bringing women to their knees
When I say
We'll always be together
You ask what will become of me
Just look into my eyes and see
Come with me
October: the ashes of summer and the scorpion's sting
Embrace the naked moon of Halloween
It's October again
The autumn leaves are dead
The sun makes way for the bales of hay
To silhouette the dead
It's October again
Orange mates with the ground that breaks
As tree tops twist and bend
The crows eat meat of the long lost meek
And the dark is dressed in red
Something in the air is like a lure
Listen closely hear it stir
The sleeping souls are waking and concur
It's time for Halloween
It's October again
Through Mesmer's eyes
Lost dreams arise
And visit like old friends
The crows eat meat of the long lost meek
And the dark is dressed in red
A farewell feast where the guests, deceased,
Are vibrant and well fed
Suddenly from the light of life to the darkness, swallowing pride and joy
On the wave of my thoughts sailing lost and cold - this lonely boy
Sinking to his inner world leaving this earth million miles behind
Crossing the borderline, time is not running on this side, not on this side
Night brings vapour where the spirits move
I'm alone with the echoes
I've sailed the sea of loneliness drifting in timelessness
Crossed the ocean, been at the mercy of the waves
Seen the beauty of dawn, admired it after storm
Felt the joy of rebirth and could smile again
Crawling back to the land of the living from silence of the tomb
But the black clouds return, leaving pale and fragile - this broken man
Night brings vapour where the spirits move
I'm all alone with the echoes
I've sailed the sea of loneliness drifting in timelessness
Crossed the ocean, been at the mercy of the waves
Seen the beauty of dawn, admired it after storm
Yeah it hurt so bad
Just sitting here alone
And all I've ever wanted
Was something of my own
But everything always changes, it changes
Yeah nothing ever seems
To stay the same
And as these days of late October
Are starting to get colder
The stories that you told her
Make us wish we didn't have to grow older
And leave all youth behind us
Will look inside us
Or are we stuck here on our own
And I have come to face the fact
That once you're gone you can't come back
You can't count on
Tomorrow it might not come
My sorrow I know it's from you
And as these days of late October
Are starting to get colder
The stories that that you told her
Make us wish we didn't have to grow older
And leave all youth behind us
Will look inside us
Or are we stuck here on our own
As the moon light shines threw my window blinds
And the stars outside can do all but hide
I know this won't last we grow up so fast
And the ones that we love fade away
And for now I'll close my eye
And I'll dream of lies
That seem so kind
I wake up to find another tear
Falling down as we hit the ground and
You know that we settle that perfect sound in me
And as these days in late October continue to get colder
I wonder if I told her how I felt enough today
Cause tomorrow is to late
You should never hesitate to tell them to tell them
And I wonder can you hear the sum of them can you see me I'm slowing down
I'm slowing down into the memories of me memories of you
i heard in October
he was back on the outside
starting over
last time i saw him
was graduation
our families together, but never again
ah ah ah if we were together again
ah ah ah i couldn't watch him pretend
ah ah ah the kid digging in the sand
ah ah ah never grew into a man
the world on his shoulder
he left without warning
then just got colder
5 years in florida
killed by the things he couldn't change
i don't know how it feels to fall into the fire loosing everything
it must have felt like hell to choose one last breath o
The rivers, the lakes, and the oceans
All stood still,
And nothing stirred within
Their silent depths
Ships sailorless lay
Rotting on the sea
And their masts fell
Piecemeal
Come September, Summer dies away
Come October, So cold are our ways
Come September, Summer dies away
Come October, So short are our days
They slept on the abyss
Without a surge
The waves were dead
The tides were in their grave
And the clouds perished;
Darkness had no need
Of aid from them
Halloween is a signal I received in France
watching all the traffic going by
Your hair is done in sequins you wear leather pants
soldiers at the crossroads wave goodbye
chorus:
It's already over in October
Already Christmas every year
It's always good to sing when you are sober
Always good to wipe away the tears
Sometimes I think we'll all go up in smoke
owing that the passage is not clear
There is a man who probably will choke
on the words that sound so violently sincere
chorus
There was a woman wore my ring upon her hand
warning me to judge the way I feel
Right on surface of everything I planned
she cut to deep to ever really heal
chorus
I see you I'll nod to some passing face of God
who never really answered me at prayer
The savior is quite odd, he prefers the prod
his kingdom is made up of thin air
So you showed me around your town
To hell again and back
Our love sucks
Already made all the friends hand off
I know it might seem odd
Because your not the only one
I remember my self as a lonely child
So I was
And you've got me wrong
You've got me wrong
(Ground your sense of worth
Cos the spark of morning burns
And all of your searching eyes
Could scold your tender mind)
Remember what they say
Their's no shortcut to a dream
It's all blood and sweat
And life is what you manage in between
But what you don't know
Is you're too young and eager to love
Seething eyes
So you're about to get into
The ditch that you opened up
(Ground your sense of worth
Cos the spark of morning burns
And all of your searching eyes
Could scold your tender mind)
Sister's allay
and leave you behind
You want it sewn
I cut the light
of a lot of mood
Sister you know enough
But for now just let it go
Don't run, don't rush
Just flow
Through the give and take you had to learn
How to cross the coals and not get burned
But you're really just a little girl
Playing in the park until the sun goes down
sometime you want to rise
One did it's our desire
No doubt you think you braided your own hair
So you're all grown up
Should you want to cross the line
Which way do you want to fly?
Pretend that love could help you find your way
But you got me wrong
I'm running through dark twisted trees
You're laughing and one step behind me
But this game has begun to scare me
A cold wind rushes through me
And I sense your presence in me
You're breathing though me,
breathing through me
I close my eyes and I let go
As I feel you tugging at my soul
Autumn sun sets my heart aflame
I want to dance with the flames
In the winds
So I fly, fly through the fire
Rise, rise from the air
Leaves dance like fire in the winds
The flames they embrace me with heat
Colours arise from the trees
Drowning me in a sea of leaves
Drowning in the colours of the flames
Rise, rise autumn fire
Fly, fly through the air
With me
Fire in the air, Autumn light shining
[Verse 1:]
Me and my baby had something that was endless
I never thought that the she had cause she was the one for me,
But that led to me going out like every weekend
With another shawty creeping,
Like she was nothing to me
And it was like may when my baby went away,
Around june I knew I was so in love with you,
Around july your attitude changed,
And it was like august when I felt that we was just slowly starting to fade away,
Then you made a decision when september came
[Chorus:]
And it's a lot colder,
Cause october,
She said that it was over,
My ride to die, my future wife walked out my life,
In october, I never thought of you,
Saying that it's over,
How can I go back in time erasing my October,
October
[Verse 2:]
Speechless that's all I'm really left with,
Cause I can't find words to explain how I ended up like this,
If I could do it all again,
Before I decided to take a chance in jeopardizing my relationship,
Here's what I woulda did
See baby in may you would've went away,
Cause in june I woulda spent so much time with you,
And in july I'd have a heartbreak,
That in august I'd get on my knee,
And I'd ask you would you marry me,
Then you woulda never looked for love again
[Chorus:]
But it's a lot colder,
Cause october,
She said that it was over,
My ride to die, my future wife walked out my life,
In october, I never thought of you,
Saying that it's over,
How can I go back in time erasing my October
[Bridge:]
Somebody tell me how I get back where I started (where I started) [x2]
It's like 31 days in may,
And in june and july I threw away,
In that short amount of time you slipped away from me
[Chorus:]
And it's a lot colder,
Cause october,
She said that it was over,
My ride to die, my future wife walked out my life,
In october, I never thought of you,
Saying that it's over,
How can I go back in time erasing my October
woman, you never let me by
even when i wanted it to die
i'm sitting, waiting like a fool
losing myself again now for you
all i know is i loved you all this time
all i know is i need you in my life
need you in my life like a symbol
of everything that was given for you
i can’t stand the pain
knowing what i gave away was for you
all i know is i loved you all this time
all i know is i need you in my life
all i know is i loved you
only wanted to feel you and me
all i know is i loved you
and everything that i gave away was for you
all i know is i loved you all this time
all i know is i need you in my life
need you in my life like a symbol
of everything that was given for you
i can’t stand the pain
knowing what i gave away was for you
all i know is i loved you all this time
all i know is i need you in my life
need you in my life like a symbol
of everything that was given for you
need you in my life like a symbol
On a day just like this on the ocean, four years ago now.
The wind was too strong, the waves were too big, three young men
were thrown of the bow
And I was at home when they were fighting towards mother earth
And two of them died only twenty years after their birth
In October, oh
And the last of the three was left hopelessly crying for help
The wind was screaming but the silence was stronger as he stood with
his feet in the kelp
The sun was still up, but it was night time when I heard who died
I only knew Eric 'cause one time he gave me a ride
In October, oh
Now, I didn't know him well, but I liked him, he was one of those guys
That everyone knew either liked him or not, 'cause there were no sign
of lies in his eyes
I was seventeen years old the last time he spoke to me
Now I'm twenty one and I'm older than he'll ever be
In October, oh
My father is his mothers cousin, so that makes us kin
I remember those family dinners, and the old peoples funerals again
and again
So strange looking 'round in the crowd when he wouldn't be found
Oh, the look on the face of his brother when they lowered him down
In October, oh
October is the best, turns roads into beautiful trails
The rime on the windows, the leafs on your coat, the frost on the cars
and the rails
Still, out on the ocean, those memories are bringing me down
But I've heard there's a symphony playing you to sleep when you drown
My happiness is buried in the sand
In the backyard of my life I can't remember where
Think it was October’s rain that watched me cry
No one else was around
My happiness
Diving to the bottom of the sea
To find the wild white pearls which hide from me
And only empty shells were lying there
Like my happiness, my happiness
And when you see me running
Don’t assume I’m running to somewhere I belong
And when you see me crying
Don’t feel sorry for me
My happiness is like a snake
Slides below the wooden floor to the darkest place
And just sits and waits till no one’s there
Just like my happiness my happiness
And when I see you smiling
I come to you, I’m trying, to steal your smile for me
I hate you when you’re glowing,
The way you’re walking, between my tears
So when you see me running
Don’t assume I’m running to somewhere I belong
And when you see me crying
Don’t feel sorry for me
So when I die and October comes
And the leaves stop falling down upon the ground
And when the rain will stop you can be sure
Keep in mind the last time
You go away at night
Keep in mind the last time
But don't ignore the first
Raise your eyes just go again
There will be a next time
So you go go go if you wanna go
You stay stay stay well you never know
Day day day will rise again
You know know know it will come again
It will come again
Keep in the mind the last time
But don't ignore the worst
Raise your eyes just go again
There will be a next time
So you go go go if you wanna go
You stay stay stay well you never know
Day day day will rise again
You know know know it will come again
It will come again
In a perfect world
There would be no divide
In a perfect world
We could both open up
And see the other side
And see the other side
So you go where you wanna be
They say it will set you free
You know it's never so
You go, you're on your way
On your way
On your way
Welcome to the day
I finally silenced all these strangers
I could never say
That loving you wasn’t dangerous enough to make me stay
Now it comes down to this
Are you prepared to let me go?
October here we come
With open eyes we’ll take this
I know we can make it
And I remember when it seemed so far away to me
But now you’re here my dear
We’ll make this Autumn crystal clear
Just step away from me
And let me show them all that we can be, now
Welcome to the day
That all the things I’ve done amount to something
Remember back in May
When I knew you wanted me like I wanted you
October here we come
With open eyes we’ll take this
I know we can make it
And I remember when it seemed so far away to me
But now you’re here my dear
We’ll make this Autumn crystal clear
Just step away from me
And let me show them all that we can be
Here’s your piece of mind
Just know that I am fine
Let’s start this upward climb
Honey it’s time we crossed the line
Now it comes down to this
Are you prepared to let me go?
October here we come
With open eyes we’ll take this
I know we can make it
And I remember when it seemed so far away to me
But now you’re here my dear
We’ll make this Autumn crystal clear
Just step away from me
I hear the world is smaller and spinning out of control.
If people these days are smarter why do we ignore what we know?
What the hell, lets run them over, no one remembers this come October.
Don't Look now I'm up to no good and it doesn't bother me like it should.
They say the world is smarter.
We've got this pleasant haze.
I won't be here, what will it bother?
Gorgeous unnatural overcast days, who in their right mind would complain?
Holding back your summer have You told me that love was everywhere But you had to get out of this town and freak a while Acting like you had something together Nothing ...faster You work yourself to the bone October will you wait for me? October will you wait for me? October will you wait for me?
Walking home from the liquor store, Hands ... hand, don't turn out Then shrug it off and let you pull it out Pushing yourself down the ... stairs,
I can't run anymore,
I fall before you.
Here I am.
I have nothing left.
Though I've tried to forget,
You're all that I am.
Take me home,
I'm through fighting it.
Broken, Lifeless,
I give up.
You're my only strength.
Without you,
I can't go on,
Anymore, Ever again
*My only hope (All the times I've tried)
My only peace (To walk away from you)
My only joy, My only strength,
(I fall into your abounding grace)
My only power, My only life,
(And love is where I am) My only love.
I can't run anymore.
I give myself to you,
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
In all my bitterness,
I ignored all that's real and true.
All I need is you.
When night falls on me,
I'll not close my eyes.
I'm too alive,
And you're too strong.
I can't lie anymore,
I fall down before you.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Constantly ignoring the pain consuming me.
But this time it's cut too deep.
I'll never stray again.
It's cold outside because it's October. The rain keeps
pouring over and over, and it's true, I haven't forgotten
you. I wake up late to accept my fate. Intangible dreams
aren't manageable it seems, and it's true, I haven't
forgotten you. I can't believe what's happening to me.
Safe and sound, leaves on the groud, numbing riffs, my
mind starts to drift, and it's true, I haven't forgotten
you. The wind is chilled. My mind is filled with thoughts
of you, who I am, what you do. If you'd just talk to me
I'd be so careless and happy, you could see that we were
meant to be. It's the end of October, the month is over,
I've been disillusioned. You're with him, I'm losing it.
I don't ever want to see October leave me. Please don't
i used to draw you pictures
back in grade school
you never could quite make them out
but you said you thought they were cool
we made a really good team
you and i and our acid washed jeans
looking back it was all so great
Vaurnet, chip n pepper, and vanilla ice tapes
its hard to get over
that she comes out in october
i really wish i could show her
how things have changed
but now that were so much older
i dont even really know her
some day she'll come over
we could hang
i saw you in
cosmopolitan
and your hair was down
and everybody liked you
remember way back when
back in grade seven
cause your hair was down
and everybody liked you
you were a smart girl
favorite day was earth day
forget what those jerks say
i dug you in the worst way
no doubt
cause you even went out and bought me
a boys in the hood soundtrack for my birthday
its hard to get over
she comes out in october
some day i could show her
things have changed
but now that were so much older
i dont even really know her
some day she'll come over
we can hang
hang around
hang around
hang around
hang around
and we could all tell
that you would be something
and we could all tell
stories to our friends
and we could all tell
it was now or nothing
and we could all tell
Pumpkin seed gonna get you soon.
Couse couse, kitchenware, attitude...
Nothing more than an acorn shell.
Yeah this is my October.
Shadow me accordingly.
Nothing more than a bit too fast.
Fall down, hit the ground, not meant to last.
Nothing more than a need to yell.
That this is my October.
Let me die.
Since I've been running out of empty,
All I have is candy bars
And costumes to defend me.
You say,
"We used to taste so sweet."
Do I look like candy?
Do I look like candy?
Pumpkin gonna get too quick.
Couse couse, kitchen wear, I'm full of shit.
And nothing more than a need to yell
That this is my October.
Shadow me accordingly.
And I never thought we'd break this ground.
Fall down, hit the ground, don't make a sound.
It's been nothing more than a big cheep thrill.
Yeah yeah this is my October.
Let me die.
Since I've been running out of empty,
All I have is candy bars
And costumes to defend me.
You say,
"We used to taste so sweet."
Do I look like candy?
Like candy
Like candy
Like candy
Ya, da, da, da'm gonna die
