Writer(s): Vesna Pisarović Composer(s): Vesna Pisarović Deen (born Fuad Backović 12 April 1982 in Sarajevo) is a popular singer from Bosnia and Herzegovina. His stage name is Deen. At the age of 12, Fuad Backović Deen took his first musical steps by recording his first song. The song was recorded in a musical studio called Studio Number 1 owned by PBSBiH. In 1997, Backović became the lead singer of the Bosnian boy band Seven Up. The band released two albums, Otvori oči (Open Your Eyes) and Seven. The band enjoyed great success in Bosnia and the neighboring countries Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro. In 1998, Deen received an offer to perform for an opera choir. His vocal abilities had been noticed by the National Theater of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he accepted the role of the lead singer for the opera choir during the production of Carmina Burana. Backović has been praised for his vocal abilities by people such as Davorin Popović, Kemal Monteno, Hajrudin Varešanović, and many others. Backović recorded the duet "Poljubi me" (Kiss Me) with the popular Croatian singer Vlatka Pokos. Backović graduated from the Istituto Marangoni with a degree in Fashion Business. He is currently studying postgraduate degree at the same institution. He lives in Milan, Italy. Until recently, Backović dated Hana Hadžiavdagić, who was also a contestant on the show "Farma". As Bosnia had not finished in the top ten in the previous Contest, the song was performed in the semi-final. Here, it was performed twenty-first (following Serbia and Montenegro's Željko Joksimović & Ad Hoc Orchestra with "Lane Moje" and preceding the Netherlands's Re-Union with "Without You"). It received 133 points to place 7th in the 22-song semi-final and qualify for the final. In the final, it was performed twelfth (following Croatia's Ivan Mikulić with You Are The Only One and preceding Belgium's Xandee with "1 Life"). At the close of voting, it had received 91 points, placing 9th in a field of 24 and qualifying Bosnia for the final at the next Contest.
