If I don't see her each day, I miss her
Oh what a thrill, it is to kiss her
Believe me, I've got a case
On Nancy, with the laughing face
She takes the winter and makes it summer
And summer could take some lessons from her
Picture a tomboy in lace
That's Nancy with the laughing face
Have you ever heard mission bells ringing
Well she'll give you the very same glow
When she speaks you would think it was singing
Just to hear her say hello
I swear to goodness, you can't resist her
Sorry for you, she has no sister!
No angel could replace
Nancy, with the laughing face!
Keep Audrey Hepburn, and keep Liz Taylor
Nancy's the feature, they're just the trailer.
No angel could replace,
It seems so long ago,
Nancy was alone,
looking ate the Late Late show
through a semi-precious stone.
In the House of Honesty
her father was on trial,
in the House of Mystery
there was no one at all,
there was no one at all.
It seems so long ago,
none of us were strong;
Nancy wore green stockings
and she slept with everyone.
She never said she'd wait for us
although she was alone,
I think she fell in love for us
in nineteen sixty one,
in nineteen sixty one.
It seems so long ago,
Nancy was alone,
a forty five beside her head,
an open telephone.
We told her she was beautiful,
we told her she was free
but none of us would meet her in
the House of Mystery,
the House of Mystery.
And now you look around you,
see her everywhere,
many use her body,
many comb her hair.
In the hollow of the night
when you are cold and numb
you hear her talking freely then,
she's happy that you've come,
she's happy that you've come.
Oh-oh
Walking in the midnight rain
Thought I heard a southbound train
Call your name
Nancy
Walking in the rain all day
Guess there wasn't nobody goin' my way
They didn't stop at all
But I will get back to you if I have to crawl
Nancy I told you in my letter
Things didn't appear to be no better at all
And this ol' highway's a hell of a line
Nancy I just spent my last dime to make this call
Oh Nancy
I'll get back to you if I have to crawl
Oh yeah
[solo]
Oh yeah, mmmmm
I left my home for a job in the city
It's a crying shame
It's a pity
It ain't livin' at all
Nobody knows my name
They don't even give a thang about me t'all
Nancy
Baby I'm getting back to you if I have to crawl
Ohh
Nancy I told you in my letter
Things didn't appear to be no better at all
This ol' highway's a hell of a line
Nancy I just spent my last dime to make this call
Nancy
Baby I'll get back to you if I have to crawl
Oh yeah yeah oh oh
Oh Nancy
Oh Nancy
Oh-oh

Oh Nancy
Oh baby Nancy
Yeah little Nancy
I'm talking to you girl
I'm talking to Nancy
Baby
I cannot bide my time
I mean you ain't even trying
Oh now I'm down here in the heat babe
Ohhh, I'm cooking
Yeah yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Come'on
You know you're making me wait
I said you take my plate
Well you and me yes are one
yeah we're from different fates
And you so sweet
just like roses won't scatter
The way I make love
And I'm a make you feel better
yeah I cannot bide my time
I mean you ain't even trying
Oh now I'm down here in the desert
OH and I'm crying
Yes I'm crying
Oh I'm crying
Baby I'm crying
Weekday mornings find me moody
I kiss my wife goodbye,
I drive the boss to work each day.
At the office, no one's watching
Can I catch her eye ?
The hours squeeze by, the boss works late
Still I'll always wait and drive her home with me and say...
Nancy let your hair down for me
Nancy leave the office behind, then
Nancy let that fall off your shoulders
I'll be your husband once again
Nancy
Nancy I don't mind I'm happy working overtime
Nancy let your hair down for me
Nancy leave the office behind, then
Nancy let that fall off your shoulders
I'll be your husband once again
Nancy let your hair down for me
Nancy leave the office behind, then
Nancy let that fall off your shoulders
Nancy was a farmer's daughter everything her Daddy taught her honestly, honestly
And even though her Pa was poor he always kept within the law and so did she, so did she
Because there's no shame in workin' in the rain
He's using every day to shape his daughter's character
For someone's son to marry her
On the day her Momma died he promised to protect the pride of family, family
And as he left the hospital he vowed if it was possible they'd both be free, both be free
Then came to court her, Clancy Clearwater
Rich gifts he bought her from them big stores
And her old man fancied that she's wed Clancy
A dude ranch owner from Arizona
A real fine dancer, slicked up romancer
He got this answer from his fair Nancy
No no no, I won't go, No no no, I won't go
Clancy came complaingin to the farmer did his brain in, couldn't understand, understand
Rich and pretty looking she'd not even do the cooking if she gave her hand, gave her hand
She'd be wearing Satin, reading literature in Latin, life'd not be hard, not be hard
If I don't see her each day, I miss her
Gee what a thrill, each time I kiss her
Believe me, I've got a case
On Nancy, with the laughing face
She takes the winter and makes it summer
And summer could take some lessons from her
Picture a tomboy in lace
That's Nancy with the laughing face
Have you ever heard mission bells ringing
Well she'll give you the very same glow
When she speaks you would think it was singing
Just hear her say hello
I swear to goodness, you can't resist her
She's mighty sweet, and wait till you see her sister
No angel could replace
Outside here, there's hell
Bombs are falling, like the rain
She laughs with her dolls in the hand
I Cry because we are in danger
Nancy don't you fear
I have all under control
I'll save you from this war
Dear Nancy don't cry
I've promised you
Chorus:
She's known as Nancy, she's young and wild and free.
She's known as Nancy, and she wants you all to see.
She's known as Nancy, Oh Nancy won't you come and dance
with me.
Good evening ladies and gentlement, how are you all
today?
I see that some are seated and the band is here to
play.
Go grab yourself a great big glass of whatever fills
your fancy,
and I'll tell you all a wonderful tale of a girl whose
known as Nancy.
Chorus:
She's known as Nancy, she's young and wild and free.
She's known as Nancy, and she wants you all to see.
She's known as Nancy, Oh Nancy won't you come and dance
with me.
Straight from down the Northwest Coast she came a year
ago,
she settled here in St. John's town in the blinding
sleet and snow.
Then one night she rolled downtown with a fella Clancy,
and everyone that was in the bar they knew her name was
Nancy.
Chorus:
She's known as Nancy, she's young and wild and free.
She's known as Nancy, and she wants you all to see.
She's known as Nancy, Oh Nancy won't you come and dance
with me.
Round and round the floor she went with her partner
they did fly,
and when we got down to the reel she acted oh so shy.
Her partner raced across the floor and began to sing a
shanty.
It was a song about a wonderful girl and her name was
known as Nancy.
Chorus:
She's known as Nancy, she's young and wild and free.
She's known as Nancy, and she wants you all to see.
She's known as Nancy, Oh Nancy won't you come and dance
So, wassup? Ya' pickin' up some ladies in ya' truck?
