The performance Red Earth Revisited is about an historical tragedy, known as the Great Cattle Killing that took place in the Eastern Cape during colonial times (around 1856), when the English tried to conquer this last part of South Africa. At that time the Xhosa Kings and Chiefs still ruled. They were fighting the English for years. One victim of those continuous wars was the orphan Nongqawuse, who lived with her uncle after her parents were killed by the English.
Using text, music, dance and puppetry we will tell the story of Nongqawuse and the Great Cattle Killing. A story about the past, but unfortunately it is a story of all times. Also
