Bituminous coal or black coal is a relatively soft coal containing a tarlike substance called bitumen. It is of higher quality than lignite coal but of poorer quality than anthracite. It was usually formed as a result of high pressure on lignite.

Bituminous coal is an organic sedimentary rock formed by diagenetic and sub metamorphic compression of peat bog material.

Bituminous coal has been compressed and heated so that its primary constituents are macerals vitrinite, exinite, and so on. The carbon content of bituminous coal is around 60-80%; the rest is composed of water, air, hydrogen, and sulfur, which have not been driven off from the macerals.

The heat content of bituminous coal ranges from 21 million to 30 million Btu per short ton (24 to 35 MJ/kg) on a moist, mineral-matter-free basis.

Bituminous coal is usually black, sometimes dark brown, often with well-defined bands of bright and dull material. Bituminous coal seams are stratigraphically identified by the distinctive sequence of bright and dark bands and are classified accordingly as either "dull, bright-banded" or "bright, dull-banded" and so on.

Nathaniel Marvin "Nat" Wolff (born December 17, 1994) is an American child actor, and singer-songwriter, composer, and keyboardist. He is the frontman of Nat & Alex Wolff. He is best known for his role as himself on the Nickelodeon series The Naked Brothers Band.

Wolff was born in Los Angeles, California to actress Polly Draper (of TV's Thirtysomething) and jazz pianist Michael Wolff. He is the older brother of actor/musician and composer Alex Wolff. He says that in his spare time he likes to play basketball, write music, and play with the family's dog, E.T.

At first, his mother refused because she didn't want her children exposed to superstardom because they were very young. As a result, Draper decided to appease Nat by filming his own sitcom called, Don't Eat Off My Plate.
