Lacrosse is a team sport of Native American origin played using a small rubber ball and a long-handled stick called a crosse or lacrosse stick, mainly played in the United States and Canada. It is a contact sport which requires padding. The head of the lacrosse stick is strung with loose mesh designed to catch and hold the lacrosse ball. Offensively, the objective of the game is to score by shooting the ball into an opponent's goal, using the lacrosse stick to catch, carry, and pass the ball to do so. Defensively, the objective is to keep the opposing team from scoring and to dispossess them of the ball through the use of stick checking and body contact or positioning. The sport has four major types: men's field lacrosse, women's lacrosse, box lacrosse and intercrosse.
Lacrosse, a relatively popular team sport in the Americas, may have developed as early as AD 1100. By the seventeenth century it was well-established and had been documented by Jesuit priests, although the game has undergone many modifications since that time. In the traditional Native Canadian version, each team consisted of about 100 to 1,000 men on a field that stretched from about 500 meters to 3 kilometers long. These lacrosse games lasted from sunup to sundown for two to three days straight. These games were played as part of ceremonial ritual to give thanks to the master.
Johns Hopkins (May 19, 1795 – December 24, 1873) was an American entrepreneur, abolitionist and philanthropist of 19th-century Baltimore, Maryland.
His bequests founded numerous institutions bearing his name, including Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins University, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
A biography entitled Johns Hopkins: A Silhouette written by his cousin, Helen Hopkins Thom, was published in 1929 by the Johns Hopkins University Press.
Johns Hopkins was born on May 19, 1795, to Samuel Hopkins (1759–1814) of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, and Hannah Janney (1774–1864), of Loudoun County, Virginia. Home was Whitehall, a 500-acre (two km²) tobacco plantation in Anne Arundel County. His first name derives from a maternal great-grandmother, Margaret Johns, who passed it on to her son.
The Hopkins family were members of the Society of Friends (Quakers). In 1807 they emancipated their slaves in accordance with their local Society decree, which called for freeing the able-bodied and caring for the others, who would remain at the plantation and provide labor as they could. The second eldest of eleven children, 12 year-old Johns was required to work on the farm, interrupting his formal education. From 1806 to 1809, he likely attended The Free School of Anne Arundel County, which was located in today's Davidsonville, Maryland.
Paul Rabil (born November 10, 1985, Elkton, Maryland), is a lacrosse player with the Edmonton Rush of the National Lacrosse League and the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse. Rabil attended DeMatha Catholic High School (Hyattsville, MD) and played his collegiate lacrosse at the Johns Hopkins University.
Rabil was a key contributor for the 2005 and the 2007 NCAA Championship winning Blue Jay teams, as well as the 2008 NCAA finalists. Rabil was awarded the 2007 McLaughlin Award given to the nation's most outstanding NCAA lacrosse midfielder. Rabil was selected, as one of the five finalists for the 2007 and 2008 Tewaaraton Trophy, awarded to the "Most Outstanding" collegiate lacrosse player in the United States. Rabil was the team's leading scorer in all three of his trips to the NCAA finals, scoring nine goals and handing out six assists in those finals.
Rabil was selected 1st overall by the Boston Cannons in the 2008 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.
In 2009, Rabil was named the MLL MVP and MLL Offensive Player of the Year. Rabil also won the MLL Fastest Shot competition in 2009 and 2010, with his shot measured at 111 miles per hour (179 km/h), the current world record.
a hole in your head, a hole in you heart
you're coming apart and its happening soon
there's a special place for broken hearts
there's a special place for your broken heart
where love goes when it dies, where love goes when it
dies, where love goes when it dies
and our love will die
I never thought something could hurt
more than a dislocated limb but this hurts more
there's a special place in my heart and in it you'll stay
there's a special place in my heart and in it you'll stay
where love goes when it dies, where love goes when it
dies, where love goes when it dies
You say nothing feels like the first time and I know it
would be quite stupid, hello
I just wanted to levitate up in the sky
Just to get rid of you and the little things that you do
And the little things that you do
And the little things that you do
You are watching my every step so don't except our love
to grow bold
I just wanted to levitate up in the sky
Just to get rid of you and the little things that you do
And the little things that you do
And the little things that you do
Everything look so big but oh so small when I look down
But I think that I will stay here for a while even if it
grows darker now
I say it ain't gonna work out for us so you see we better
just end it right here
I just wanted to levitate up in the sky
Just to get rid of you and the little things that you do
And the little things that you do
And the little things that you do
And the little things that you do
There are still some things I’d like to say to you
Some things you should see
But since were not that close no more
I’m gonna have to let it be
Although it’s really annoying,
And it's bugging me a lot
I'm just gonna be quiet,
And maybe you will work it out, but I doubt it
You cant say no forever, no no no,
Sometimes you should let it slide, ah ah ah aaaah,
I know I’m not so clever, no no no no,
But you’re not completely kind
Sometimes when I call you,
I just feel like hanging up
You’re not getting any older
and it never seems to stop
Now if I was you’re boyfriend/girlfriend,
I would tell you all of this
But since we’re not together
I’m not saying anything at all
You cant say no forever, no no no,
you have to let me in, ah ah ah aaaah,
You are really stubborn, no no no no,
but in the end I always win
I’ve had it up to here (now you know)
your stealing and cheating and all your lies
No more chances for you (no no no)
No more chances for you (no no no)
So I follow you around - Not a word from you
you can even hear my heart break
No more lovesongs for you
No more songs at all for you
One day you’ll be alone
And where will I be then – I’ll be gone
I am not invisible, I’m not blind
Everybody can see me cry
Everyone but you (oh oh oh)
everyone but you (no no no)
And so I follow you around - You are laughing now
But I’ll be laughing too (before you know) – and you
know
No more lovesongs for you
No more songs at all for you
One day you’ll be alone
And that’s when I’ll be gone – I’ll be gone
No more love songs for you
This is the last time I’ll say
that I ever loved you
But this is the last time I swear
One day you’ll be alone
And there will be no songs for you (no no no)
The lights spell: I miss you - but it's a big city
If I stay at the same place long enough
Sooner or later I'll run into you
The airplane banner says: Marry me
But it's a big city
Over and over I think that it's you
But it never is when I get there
Love is cheap but you are not!
A penny for your thoughts and a million for your love
A penny for your thoughts and a million for your love
A penny for your thoughts and a million for your love,
a million for your love
All the graffitti says: maybe i'm the one
But it's a big city
Nobody else will love you like I do
They say love is blind but baby so are you
Freedoms free but love is not
A penny for your thoughts and a million for your love
A penny for your thoughts and a million for your love
A penny for your thoughts and a million for your love,
a million for your love
Well, it's a big city and it's full of signs
But you keep missing them, yeah, you keep missing them
A penny for your thoughts and a million for your love
A penny for your thoughts and a million for your love
A penny for your thoughts and a million for your love,
Stay away, tomorrow I will be OK
far away, i'll find you on a better day
I think that I like you cause I think that you're like
and that's really strange because I don't like myself
But when it's a good day I think that i'm OK
but this day today has not been one of those days
It's not that i'm feeling lonely it's also that i'm by
myself
Noone likes to be lonely except for when it's lonely
with you
So who (who) who (who) who will bring us together?
And how (how) how (how) how long will it take?
All I see are your eyes when your eyes are on me
If you like me then likings not the problem you see
I'm nothing like you and nothing you do can me not like
you cause i'm crazy for you
You're nothing like me, you just disagree and that's
just what I need to feel complete
It's not that i'm feeling lonely it's also that i'm by
myself
Noone likes to be lonely except for when it's lonely
with you
So who (who) who (who) who will bring us together?
And how (how) how (how) how long will it take?
I guess that you'll hear this when you get home (oh,
but when will you get home)
I know i'm drunk but I still mean what I say (if I can
remember it the next day)
im starting to forget just what ive said now (now it's
time to go to bed)
oh, and I call you again tomorrow if im not dead by
then
So who (who) who (who) who will bring us together?
If you look the other way - You think all of it will
disappear
But I'm sad to say that's not how it works
It's been cold since october, It's been dark all my
life
Except for moments that I'm trying hard not to forget
Well, it happened over night, It happened little by
little
I was surprised but I knew It all along
We need a recount, We need a recount
We need a second opinion and a judge
I read in a book somewhere - Something like everyone
can change
and I wish I could apply it on myself
I've been trying to think twice, And be conciderate and
nice
Except for moments that I'm trying hard just to forget
It happened over night, It happened one step at the
time
I was surprised, And at the same time I was not
We need a recount, We need a recount
We need a second opinion and a judge
We are kids we can't decide, nonono, We are kids we
can't decide
We are kids we can't decide, nonono, We are kids we
can't decide
We are kids we can't decide, nonono, We are kids we
can't decide
We are kids we can't decide, nonono, We are kids we
you`re pretty in the morning, in the morning light
your hair all messed up and your eyes open like they
open for the first time
and I wish this morning could last forever
and it never had to get dark
because I know in the evening the feeling from the
morning is all gone
you have left your secrets somewhere
and I have mine on the inside
telling someone everything don`t make it easy it just
makes it hard
it's not easy it's just hard
So cmon cmon cmon cmon cmon cmon cmon cmon with me now,
cmon with me now
you`re drewling on the pillow
snoring in my ear
I wish you`d never wake up
and that this feeling didn`t have to disappear
I don`t believe in soulmates
and in everlasting love
but I do believe that efter these rainy days
there`s bound to be some sun
The alarm goes off softly
You reach out and snooze it everytime
and most of the times you would be late if I didn`t
wake you up
but I always wake you up
So cmon cmon cmon cmon cmon cmon cmon cmon with me now,
You say you see a darkness in daylight, so you forget
and pause a while
But you never really stay sad, lots of friends and
aquaintances
And you wanna be the one who’s glad – in everyones
company
You say were once as young as me
Remember what it’s like to be so sad
If you fall, I welcome you with open arms into the dark
night
And I’m a bit like Terrence Hill, I might seem cool but
underneath
I am just as scared and sad as you, and if you stay a
while and pause you see
I will make you smile and I wont talk
about depressions or about me / about depressing stuff
like me
just you
If you fall, I welcome you with open arms into the dark
night
And if you find what you think that you need, I wont
say I know better than you
‘Cause if you’re really truly glad I wont tell you that
it might pass too
I swear I’ll never tell you to but you should build a
living is not an option but I guess suicide is worse
and I hate making decisions and I don't want it to hurt
when I talked to the psychiatrist, she merely shrugged
at me
said this thing you're experiencing, you're not
suicidal
you're just a human being my friend
and everybody feels like you do anyway
but look at me, now look at me
with my hand and feet on the reiling
with my heart all bleed out
I bet you didn't believe me when I said that this was
different
when I said that this was different
tell all my friends, it's gonna get a whole lot worse
before it's getting better the skies will look so dark
the hardest part when someone is leaving
is when you never get to say goodbye
tell my mother that anger is just another side of grief
I know it's the hardest on the parents
to outlive their own kid
don't make it look like an accident, don't make it look
like an accident
don't make it look like an accident, don't make it look
like an accident
don't make it look like an accident, don't make it look
like an accident
don't make it look like an accident, don't make it look
like an accident
give them someone to blame
i'm trying hard to control myself
but this is my stop, this is my stop, this is my stop,
You don’t have to be afraid, it’s getting warmer day by
and pretty soon the days will all belong to us
You got all year figured out, figured out
You’ve planned each day and every night, every night
This way feelings never have to interfere
so look outside the window and listen to the sound
you just assume your heart is beating but baby…
Someday it will not, someday it will not, no, someday
it will not, no no
Someday it will not, no, someday it will not, someday
it will not, no no
I know I am in your way
I know what your schedules say
But I’m afraid if I walk away, you’ll be alright
My plan is to be lost, to be lost
To be on time, or late or not, late or not
And every season changing will feel like the first time
but look outside the window and listen to the sound
you just assume your heart is beating but baby…
Someday it will not, someday it will not, no, someday
it will not, no no
Someday it will not, no, someday it will not, someday
This could last forever
If forever is a really short time
And we could stay together
If together is far far apart
And we dont have to change a thing
As long as nothing stays the same
If we pause now - no time for sorrow
Lets wait for tomorrow - tomorrow
Lets get old, lets be bold, lets get old - today - in
just one day
These reversepills aint working
And where are all the time travellers (from the future)
Shouldnt we have met ourselves by now?
I dont wanna wait any longer
To go back
and correct all my regrets
Lets get old, lets be bold, lets get old - today - in
just one day
Everything will be over soon
Time flies when we're having fun
No more fighting, no more fighting
You'll die before I do
Nothing that you do
nothing that you do...
Can make me leave you now
Lets get old, lets be bold, lets get old - today - in
just one day
Chords:
Verse: C F - G F
Chorus: C G F G
tell me a story
make the ending happy please
put some unicorns in there
and some animals that speak
I dont know where I go wrong
but it always ends this way
the world is full of saturdays
but it's always sunday around here
make all of the flowers
bloom all at once
and make sure that in the morning
the sun light hits my eyes
I dont know where I go wrong
but it always ends this way
the world is full of saturdays
but it's always sunday around here
and while your at it
get me a job
one that pays loads
and one that i also love
I dont know where I go wrong
but it always ends this way
the world is full of saturdays
but it's always sunday around here
the way things are going
I might not come back
I don't want you to miss me
good things never last
and a sundays a sunday, a sundays a sunday
its all for the best and you might thank me some day,
sunday, some day, sunday
the world is full of saturdays
this has gone on long enough, and i dont want to fight
im not saying its your fault, you just got to be right
and if you wanna blame someone - (I wanna blame
someone)
you can always try me - (already blaming you)
an easy target, i don't mind - (why would you mind?)
as long as were still friends - (were not friends,
anymore)
so let me in (let me go once again)
please, let me in (let me go once again)
all the lies (and all the bad talk), we can fix it (we
can mend this)
you know i see a brightness and so could you
the silent treatment isnt helping (and the longer we
stay angry) it gets worse
I see a brightness and so could you
it doesnt have to be this way, this could be patched up
im sure
if we both want it to, we could go back to before
you know i don't like to beg - (and i don't wanna
listen)
but our friendship means so much - (a long time ago)
if we just could sit back - (I don't want to talk)
enjoy the moment that's all - (were not friends -
anymore - so)
so let me in (let me go once again)
please, let me in (let me go once again)
all the lies (and all the bad talk), we can fix it (we
can mend this)
you know i see a brightness and so could you
the silent treatment isnt helping (and the longer we
stay angry) it gets worse
I see a brightness and so could you
plans come and plans go - everything looks so small
im thinking about swallowing my pride and picking up
the phone
oh, oh oh oh, oh, oh, oh, oh oh, yeah, thats just what
i'll do, do, do - tomorrow
all the lies (and all the bad talk), we can fix it (we
can mend this)
you know i see a brightness and so could you
the silent treatment isnt helping (and the longer we
stay angry) it gets worse
Noone listens to you - But you keep talking cause thats
what you do
You need a new dictionary - There are more words than
me, me, me, me
So if you got something to say – this is the time
If you got something to tell me – this might be your
last chance
You have my attention now babe
So go ahead, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead
I’m listening, c’mon and tell me everything
So go ahead, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead
I’m listening so spit it all out
You can’t be right all the time - You can’t be wrong
all the time
I’m sorry for the things that i do - From now on I’ll
be friendly to you
So if you got something to say – this is the time
If you got something to tell me – this might be your
last chance
You have my attention now babe
Go ahead now, baby don’t be shy, noones blaming you,
and there’s no right or wrong
Go ahead now, baby don’t you cry, I will count to 5,
and that’s the time you got
Go ahead now, you were right once, I don’t remember
when, but it could happen again
Go ahead now, baby dont be shy, tell me everything,
the phone was set on mute - that's why I didn't take the
call
I was feeling kind of homesick - so I left without saying
good bye
you make up these excuses (excuses, excuses)
and hope noone will see (excuses, excuses)
that the biggest liar (excuses, excuses)
in the room is you (excuses, excuses)
no, I really like your food
it's just that I already ate
please write down the recipe
i'll cook this once a week
you keep up with your excuses - you hope noone will see
when you look into the mirror - you see a big phoney
I guess it's that you dont like me
or maybe you're just shy
maybe it's none of the above
maybe you're just a liar
but im sick of these excuses - im sick of all white lies
for once just level with me - its not that hard to say
goodbye
remember you can count on me
i'm on your fighting side
i'm pretty sure it's mutual
you're on my fighting side too
i'll tell you why it hurts
everyone you love, love themselves more
nothings ever gonna change
noone's ever gonna care
but i'm your silver lining, i'm your silver lining
remember you can count on me
i'm on your fighting side
i'm pretty sure it's mutual
you're on my fighting side too
you threw out the phone
so now there's nothing to wait by
you choose it for yourself
but somewhere where you're not
someone that you never meet
is wondering where you are
now, where are you?
remember you can count on me
i'm on your fighting side
i'm pretty sure it's mutual
you're on my fighting side too
I know your heart is broken
you can't even see the fractions of the shape that it
used to be
but it will mend, it will mend now
like the terminator the pieces will come together again
remember you can count on me
i'm on your fighting side
i'm pretty sure it's mutual
