Will Sherman: Once upon a time there lived a young man who aimed to please. He believed what was preached to him, did what he was told, and slaved day and night to win approval. But when he dared to think for himself, he was outcast, and it was a long and painful fall. Then one day, he had an earth-shattering revelation - a truth that would define his life - genius is never appreciated.
Will Sherman: Once upon a time there lived a young man who aimed to please. He believed what was preached to him, did what he was told, and slaved day and night to win approval. It was a long and painful fall, but one glorious day, he had a revelation, the truth that would define his life. It's not that the world didn't appreciate the genius, it's that the genius didn't appreciate the world, and the people in it. After all, solitude is a whole lot nicer when you have someone to share it with. And they lived ever after, maybe even happily.
Reed: But you guys don't do anything. You sit around, and you listen to your shitty music, and you pass out your 'zenes, and you talk about changing the world, but you don't do anything. You're sleepwalkers. You are sleepwalking.::Cult Member: We just don't want you.::Reed: What am I going to do? I don't have anything.
Will Sherman: What is it with my so-called generation, lost in a sleepy haze of mediocrity? They recount episodes of The Brady Bunch with more vividness than their own childhood memories. What they need is a super-hero for the millennium, a lone force of justice in a world that punishes originality. A hero who envisions a bold new world where original thinkers are celebrated and not condemned. Thus spoke Pizza Man.
Professor Freidman: What you have before you is a cautionary tale. I was the chairman on Mr. Sherman's honour thesis committee. His paper was a wanton assault on every principle this institution holds dear. Now, you should all be open to original thinkers, but his thesis wasn't original. It was an 80 page temper-tantrum. So, instead of re-writing it, he drops out of school. You can see that decision has gotten him far. Behold, ladies and gentlemen, this is what happens when you stray from my syllabus.::Will Sherman: Um, sir, with all do respect sir, why don't you take your Categorical Imperative, and shove it up your ass.
Reed: If the world is not the way you want it to be, then take action. Action brings about change.::Will Sherman: That philosophy doesn't work. I gave it up a long time ago. It's a fight you can't win.::Reed: You can't quit. There will always be dark times, but the darkness only makes the light more brilliant. I wanted to quit, I can't tell you how many times in my life I wanted to quit, but I didn't. And then suddenly, out of nowhere, something lands on my doorstep. And it saves me. You hang in there. Something's coming for you too.
Will Sherman: You know why people love to see the pizzaman? Because no matter how pathetic their feeble lives might be, they can always say, "At least I don't do that for a living."
Reed: You broke my heart, Will.
Reed: Will, save me.::Will Sherman: I can't, I can't reach you.
A canyon (occasionally spelled cañon) or gorge is a deep ravine between cliffs often carved from the landscape by a river. Rivers have a natural tendency to reach a baseline elevation, which is the same elevation as the body of water it will eventually drain into. This forms a canyon. Most canyons were formed by a process of long-time erosion from a plateau level. The cliffs form because harder rock strata that are resistant to erosion and weathering remain exposed on the valley walls. Canyons are much more common in arid areas than in wet areas because physical weathering has a greater effect in arid zones. The wind and water from the river combine to erode and cut away less resistant materials such as shales. The freezing and expansion of water also serves to help form canyons. Water seeps into cracks between the rocks and freezes, pushing the rocks apart and eventually causing large chunks to break off the canyon walls which are also known as frost wedging. Canyon walls are often formed of resistant sandstones or granite. Submarine canyons form underwater, generally at the mouths of rivers. The word canyon is Spanish in origin (cañón, pronounced: [kaˈɲon]). The word canyon is generally used in the United States, while the word gorge is more common in Europe and Oceania, though it is also used in some parts of the United States and Canada. The military derived word defile is occasionally used in the United Kingdom.
Andrew Ross McMahon (born September 3, 1982) is a singer/songwriter. He is the vocalist, pianist and primary songwriter for the bands Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin; he also performs solo.
McMahon was born in Concord, Massachusetts. He briefly lived in New Jersey until 1991, when his family moved to Bexley, Ohio where he attended Cassingham Elementary School. His family relocated frequently due to his father's occupation in retail. McMahon recalls that while he was in fourth grade, they briefly stayed in California to support his mother's family after the loss of her brother. The death had a large impact on the family, and Andrew has a tattoo on his forearm in his uncle's memory. Following the death of his uncle, who was a musician himself, McMahon became inspired to get involved with music, and began teaching himself piano very soon afterward.
McMahon's family decided to settle in California shortly before he entered eighth grade. He would later describe himself as "a pudgy, outgoing, artistic little kid who never quite fit into the California scene". He graduated from the public Dana Hills High School in 2000.
The half life of my life is, no life at all
To wit
Success has fit me like a shroud
Oh you fox
What mistief are you up to know
All we had to do
was take boat number two
now we sleepon the couch
cats eat out of our mouth
should have knelt should have never have stayed
now we've come undone man howdy
we jumped into a canyon
The half life of my life is, no life at all
To wit
Success has fit me like a shroud
Oh you fox
What mistief are you up to know
All we had to do
was take boat number two
now we sleepon the couch
cats eat out of our mouth
should have knelt should have never have stayed
now we've come undone man howdy
"Grab your hour and check behind you.
There you go. Now you know.
Call out, caught-up, and see what runs back.
(...oh, the way they'd come...) There's another one!:
charging, liening,
left and telling.
Past the signs, yesterday, can't we find just one
light. burning?
There has to be. Do you remember me, brought out tough
with black knights falling, trashing out?
Are you happy now?"
"No.
I wasn't the only one sleeping in the dream. You came
to me.
I spoke up, standing; something had me. I could've
shown; it would've been easy. I knew we had to be
somewhere.
Now, some canyon has opened up to me and, closing off
until we can stop talking.
until nothing matters,
another night is glowing by.
I'm taking you with no until we can't take anymore.
