However, Roberts family are forced to relocate again, leaving Bill more alone than ever. Plot
After great tragedy, what would you wish for? Trembling with energy and a kind of hybrid Maori-Pakeha spiritual magic, Nine of Hearts is a short film unlike any other to emerge from New Zealand. Nine of Hearts is about the cards Gen, a Pakeha mother, has already been dealt, and the cards she is choosing to play now. Dealt the 'wishcard' in a tarot reading, Gen must decide what to wish for: a life she feels has been taken from her, or a new life in which old masks are left behind. Drawn forward by her two high-pitched fairy children, Gen must ultimately confront Nola, her teenaged Maori daughter, who has a wisdom beyond her years and a fury at her mother to match.
Plot
When a body is found in the New Orleans docks, it's pretty obvious that he died from gun shot wounds. The police surgeon notices that the man is also displaying other symptoms and Lt. Commander Clint Reed, a doctor with the U.S. Public Health Service, diagnoses a highly contagious disease, pneumonic plague. He tries to convince local officials to find everyone who may have been in contact with the dead man. The Mayor supports his efforts but many, including the police, are doubtful. Reed wants to avoid publicity so as not to panic the public. They have little information to go on - they don't know the dead man's identity - and Reed estimates they have 48 hours before disease begins to spread. With police Capt. Tom Warren going through the motions, Reed sets out to find the killers.

I watch you comb your hair in different light
You change the chair and seem to think that's alright
I understand
You need a change
When you make that change
Don't look to see
I'm alright
Now that I look at you in different light
Change the chair
A violet unicorn to me that's alright
I understand
You need a change
The world will elevate you world will elevate you
and when you make that change the world will elevate you
And if I told you then that I could cry
Would you take my tears and wash the sunrise
A man afraid has no shame
So when you take those tears don't look to see I'm alright
look to see I'm alright
When you take those tears don't look to see I'm alright
look to see I'm alright
How can I tell you
How can I explain
I want your love I need a change
In me
Ba-da ba-da ba ba-da
Ba-da ba da
Suddenly
You and I will wait
In your dreams
Suddenly
You and I will wait
In your dreams
Tonight night
We'll finally change

And maybe time will tell
All over
All over
All over
All over
All over
You and I will need a
you and I
You and I will need a

You and I will need a better place
To start all over again

Will Be their brighter day
Be their brighter day-hey day-hey
All over

We'll finally change
With a lesson
With a lesson

Always something new

Always something
Always something
Darling yeah there's something
Always something always something
[Instrumental]
And the sky was made of amethyst
And all the stars were just like little fish
You should learn when to go
You should learn how to say no
Might last a day, yeah
Mine is forever
Might last a day, yeah
Mine is forever
Well they get what they want, and they never want it again
Well they get what they want, and they never want it again
Go on, take everything, take everything, I want you to
Go on, take everything, take everything, I want you to
And the sky was all violet
I want to give the violent more violets
And I'm the one with no soul
One above and one below
Might last a day, yeah
Mine is forever
Might last a day, yeah
Mine is forever
When they get what they want, and they never want it again
And they get what they want, and they never want it again
Go on, take everything, take everything, I want you to
Go on, take everything, take everything, I dare you to
I told you from the start just how this would end
When I get what I want, then I never want it again
Go on take everything, take everything, I want you to

I have seen the devil in his swing
Laughing at me from behind the wall
I hear footsteps by the door
But I can’t answer
All is not in vain
And I once had a dream
That we were paid in dust and miracles
All is full of trust
And all is waking up
Seek not to self-destruct
We can be more than what we are
If we choose to
Laughing are the faces that I see
There’s more than what was once behind me
If I can cherish my belief that we are made of
More than what we know
All is not in vain
Then the devil grew his wings
This angel came and said to him
All things come that only fade away
Yet all is possible
All is full of trust
And all is waking up
Seek not to self-destruct
We can be more than what we are
The night is getting closer
The air is getting colder
That's my excuse to hold you Violet
You laughed at something I said
And that gave me the courage
To whisper in your ear I love you
Violet
Fate sometimes escapes out of our hands
And how does it end?
We'll never know until we're there
Through happiness and sadness
Through sanity and madness
We're meant to stay together Violet
The lust we used to have
Someday just disappeared
And now I have to beg for a kiss
Violet
Love sometimes is not in our hands
Please, understand, please, understand
The first place that we've shared
Our universe so far
By love creating planets
By kissing brand new stars
Excuse me for all my mistakes
Excuse me for all my faults
If there's a way that you could be everything you want to be,
Would you complain that it came to easy?
Just like the games with you and me
A resolution hard to see,
But that's O.K. 'cause I don't see things that are plain to see
I've got a dream to take you over
Exploding like a supernova
I'm going to crash into your world
And that's no lie
You want to give ecstasy delivered with certainty
But you're afraid that the pleasure won't be needed
In a way, we're the same two people looking out to sea
For a wave that would carry all our fantasies
If there's a way to infiltrate you
Sway your mind and complicate you
I'm going to crash into your world
And that's no lie
Let your body move into the doorway
To the disco inside your head (Violet)
Wear a colour that you want to cling to
The colour inside your head (Violet)
Contemplate jealousy intermixed with urgency
A million things take a damned good shot at you and me
If there's a way to infiltrate you
Sway your mind and complicate you
I'm going to crash into your world
And that's no lie
Let your body move into the doorway
To the disco inside your head (Violet)
Wear a colour that you want to cling to
The colour inside your head (Violet)
I'm gonna take you
I'll do my best to break you
I'm gonna take you higher
And that's no lie
Common sense is a game many people don't like to play
But give it in and the moment takes you either way
I've got a dream to take you over
Exploding like a supernova
I'm going to crash into your world
And that's no lie
Let your body move into the doorway
To the disco inside your head (Violet)
Wear a colour that you want to cling to
The colour inside your head (Violet)
If there's a way that you could be everything you want to be,
Would you complain that it came too easy?
In a way, we're the same two people looking out to see
And the sky was made of amethyst
And all the stars were just like little fish
You should learn when to go
You should learn how to say no
Might last a day
Mine is forever
Might last a day

When they get what they want
They never want it again
When they get what they want
They never want it again
Go on take everything
Take everything
I want you to
Go on take everything
Take everything
I want you to
And the sky was all violet
The more it gets violet more violence
And I'm the one with no soul
One above and one below
Might last a day
Mine is forever
Might last a day
Mine is forever
When they get what they want
When they never want it again
When they get what they want
When they never want it again
Go on take everything
Take everything

Go on take everything
Take everything
I dare you to
I told you from the start
Just how this would end
When I get what I want
When I never want it again
Go on take everything
Take everything
I want you to
Go on take everything
Take everything
I want you to
Go on take everything
Take everything i want you to
Go on take everything
Take everything i want you to
Go on take everything
Take everything
The tragic comedy divine
Paints the way to peace of mind
Leaving shallow lovers far behind
Past uncertainties combine
Bringing tears to sleepless eyes
Memory runs the course of time
Blood runs cold beyond the violet prison
For violent visions
And so the broken record plays
As you throw us away
We're never enough
We're drowning in cliches
So desperate to love
We're twisting every word they say
So we sleep through the days
Within the heat of passions war
Lust is spilled upon the floor
Staining red the wasted metaphor
The selfish need for something more
Claws in vain at closing doors
Scarring faces once adored
Tracing circles in the violet prison
For violet visions
And so the broken record plays
As you throw us away
We're never enough
We're drowning in cliches
So desperate to love
We're twisting every word they say
For arguments sake
Let's say that we did
Tell me, what would you want
With just one wish?
One a rocket ride tonight
We could chase the stars
Just you and I together
Getting high
You take my breath away again
You take my breath away again
For arguments sake
Let's say that we will
Tell me, what would you give
For just one kiss?
Lost love will always say
What you don't wanna hear
But you and I together
Sounds like bliss
You take my breath away again
You take my breath away again
You take my breath away again
You take my breath away again
You take my breath, my breath, my breath, my breath, my breath, my breath, my breath, my breath, my breath, my breath, my breath, my breath
You take my breath
You take my breath
You take my breath
You take my breath
For arguments sake
Let's say that we did
And at the end of our ride
I promise this
It's the highs and lows that cause the rise and fall
But you and I get higher every time
You take my breath away again
You take my breath away again
You take my breath away again
You take my breath away
If I was a dancer I'd dance with you
If I was a dreamer I'd dream about you
If I was a blind man and had no eyes
I know you'd be by my side
Violets are blue, and blood is red
It fell from your hands and the thorns on your head
I heard you cry out loud and the day went black
They thought the stone in the door could hold you back
Violet won't you take my hand
And hold me like forever I want you
I've seen the world as it's growing darker
Silently you stand beside her
In a quiet voice you say, "This is the way"
And in the blackest night she sees the day
Violet won't you take my hand
And hold me like forever I want you
Tonight the drunks are infected
We're on our way
As if they drop by to see me uninvited
And I am a wallflower
Maybe a better father
This is a job
For seconds I miss the bentleys
Today, maybe they'll call
You describe every prison
You pass through them all
Then he asked you for your head
as I vowed to burn your bed
Try to pretend but this is your life
Somehow it feels right
I'm calling this evolution
I'm falling for institution
Warm submission enveloping you
Tomorrow I'll survive the questions
Knives buried with cold indifference
My world is true
Rendered by you
Here they come again
I could never find the words
So I disguised them in verse
Until it comes out dumb and wrong
The simplest song if you sing along
Marry me Kristen
I want to be the only one
I'm painting a revolution
I'm falling for institution
Warm colors enveloping blue
Shot of comfort in a warm convention
Medicinal injection
36 years ended by you
Tonight the drunks are infected
Oh babe, yeah
I can't seem to reach through
The heartache that you cling to
I only hope you hear what I have to say, yeah
My arms can only reach so far
Tell me how to get to where you are?
Violet, don't save regrets
Like pennies for a rainy day
They'll just weigh you down
Until somehow you throw them all away
Violet, hey yeah
I can't rewrite your history
Or erase the painful memories
I can only give you what I have today, yeah
For a lifetime I'll be around
Until the walls you built come tumblin' down
Violet, don't save regrets
Like pennies for a rainy day
They'll just weigh you down
Until somehow you throw them all away
Don't be afraid to let me see you cry
You can yell and scream and weep
Until the tears are runnin' dry
I'll still be by your side, oh yeah oh
Violet, don't save regrets
Like pennies for a rainy day
They'll just weigh you down
Until somehow you throw them all away
Violet, don't save regrets
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Until somehow you throw them all away
Violet, don't save regrets
Like pennies for a rainy day
They'll just weigh you down
Until somehow you throw them all away
they don't eat, don't sleep
they don't feed, they don't seethe
bare their gums when they moan and squeak
lick the dirt off a larger one's feet
they don't push, don't crowd
congregate until they're much too loud
fuck to procreate till they are dead
drink the blood of their so called best friend
they don't scurry when something bigger comes their way
don't pack themselves together and run as one
don't shit where they're not supposed to
don't take what's not theirs, they don't compare
they don't scam, don't fight
don't oppress an equals given rights
starve the poor so they can be well fed
line their holes with the dead ones bread
they don't scurry when something bigger comes their way
don't pack themselves together and run as one
don't shit where they're not supposed to
don't take what's not theirs, they don't compare...
they don't scurry when something bigger comes their way
don't pack themselves together and run as one
don't shit where they're not supposed to
don't take what's not theirs, they don't compare...
rats...they don't compare
rats...they don't compare

(m. fritz, d. fritz, o. thornton)
Petals of a gesture fall
Tokens costing her soul
Hat in hand she stands
Under the weight of regret
Little dreams of love
Fade into the dark
In a moonlit room
No happy endings
-CHORUS-
Violet
Little flower, lift your face
Violet
Stand in the shower of grace
Objective eyes can see
Beauty, strike men blind
And sweetness of the kind
The purest kind
She'll never know
Love she deserves
Recognize herself
For all she is worth
I know there's much more behind reality
People walk and look at the sidewalk
not at the sun
I know more
I want more
And if you look closer you'll see that the curtain's
transparent
and you'll also see that
secrets are not secrets
anymore
Whom I'm talking to when I say you in a song
I felle blue and true
so I know whom is the you
I feel blue
I love you
Violet
And if you look closer you'll see that the curtain's
transpartent
and you'll also see that
secrets are not secrets
anymore
I know there's much more behind reality
I want you to tell me the things you like in the world
I want you to tell me about the thing
You like and you feel and you want and you do
I want you to tell me those things
so tell me, tell me
tell me please tell me
Violet wants ice cream, Violet wants cake
Violet's got dreams, you can't take
Violet wants attention which Violet will get
She's up on the wall now, watch her step
What Violet wants Violet gets, Violet gets
What Violet wants, she's not afraid, you can bet
What Violet wants Violet gets, Violet gets
What Violet wants Violet gets, Violet gets
Violet wants to know, what scares you and me?
It makes her laugh, she's a mystery
She leans out the window and waves to me
I wish I saw what Violet can see
What Violet wants Violet gets, Violet gets
What Violet wants, she's not afraid, you can bet
What Violet wants Violet gets, Violet gets
What Violet wants Violet gets, Violet gets
What Violet wants Violet gets, Violet gets
What Violet wants, she's not afraid, you can bet
Say you love me when you're out the door
Words are fake and your actions say so much more
Tonight I'm trying
to decipher these lies you're denying
But you break my heart when you take my hand
Well, listen baby, can you please try to understand?
You're not crying
When you say it's not working out
You're lying
She bleeding confidence
Just at my expense
these shades of blue and red were always wrong
and never right it seemed
Your silhouetted thinking
has left these ringing chords in the end
you'll get what you deserved
a broken heart
a broken heart you can't mend
comatose on the ballroom floor
your body's broken
your mind just can't handle more
You are dying
to tell all the secrets you're hiding
but forget yourself when the music plays
your favorite song's been playing for
three straight days
you're so blinding
you're breaking me down
with this body I'm eyeing
She's bleeding confidence
Just at my exense
these shades of blue and red were always wrong
and never right it seemed
Your silhouetted thinking
has left these ringing chords in the end
You'll get what you deserved
a broken heart
a broken heart you can't
I've been dying to get this right
but it's just a losing fight
and it's only a matter of time
tonight
and I've been dying to get this right
but it's just a losing fight
and it's only a matter of time
tonight
she's bleeding confidence
just at my expense
She's bleeding confidence
just at my expense
these shades of violet were always wrong
and never right it seemed
your silhouetted thinking
has left these ringing chords in the end
you'll get what you deserve
a broken heart
Violet
Streaks of earth matted in her hair
Beaten down, but she won't scare
Blinks her eyes, battered green and blue
Ignorance can leave an awful bruise
So get up!
Get up!
Come on and get up, Violet!
Blade of grass in her aching fist
Sets her jaw, no she won't quit
She'll take the fight to streets and avenues
Our eyes are blinded by the streets all dressed in white
The silence is broken by church bells and passing time
We shivered in the sunlight
Afraid until the day we die
Our thoughts are blinded by our words all dressed in lies
Our hearts are broken by the first one to say goodbye
We shivered in the sunlight
Afraid until the day we die
We shivered in the sunlight
There is a killer on the loose
More blood on the streets
Violet sells her body
To make money to eat
Well, Violet's just a girl
And she ran away from home
She fell out with her daddy
And now she's living all alone
Violet, oh, Violet
Who done it?
Oh, Violet
At the end of the night
Violet walks the streets
She picks up all the guys
To make her ends meet
Saturday came around
And the killer made his make
She got into his car
Now the cops are dragging the lake
Violet, oh, Violet
Who done it?
Oh, Violet
Oh, Violet
Who Done it?
His liver damaged In the wreck
The wind shields shattered all for an instant
fleeting like cars from the street
Cat topped spinners across the highway
And horses dieing, backseats crying, stumbling now,
and no I cant talk now, but I understand
Anyway I look at him, my love you've got to come back soon, it's not fair.
They choke your neck with a seatbelt, but they're meant to help
Breaking apart, misunderstand me
Flashed this evening on the sky screen
drive to Vegas and get yourself hitched
If I lived through my imperfections
To a glass staircase
and you're still angry,
I don't want to be your friend anymore
We turned the wheel,
That raised a wall and made this livid world turn red,
But I'm not scared,
Upon my bones from the face where I lie, Violetttt
Like rain returning
(violet)Back to the earth,
(violet)from a cloud falling down,
(violet) makes you squint,
(violet)as it hits your glasses lense.
I set a trap caught myself, so I surrendered, that's what I did, It wasn't there, nnnnoo it wasn't there, I looked I looked I looked everywhere,
the girl I lived for saturdays,
she watched this brilliant star grow faint,
but its not there, its not there.
I make this light to give to you,
no matter what you do,
I'll best open up these words to pour like rain, like peace upon your perfect head, it'll luminate you, start to splutter I surrender,
She wore a charm, she wore a charm, a charm necklace, she tied it tight before that night, and ... ...
Tonight the drunks are infected, we're on our way
As if they drop by to see me u-n-i-n-v-i-t-e-d

You take the whole room in, ya
hold it for all time,
hold it in your heart like amber
you take the night in
you take the consequences major in your life,
not by what is safe to wager
Smile, there's no regrets
Layers wash through our hands and
then you never see tomorrow comin'
You only feel the wake of it
Smile, there's no release
This flood of life won't cease
To leave you lying in wild amazement
Or reeling in the wake of it
You take the grandeur
And I'll take to wondering
the error of my ways
I could ponder this forever
Smile, there's no regrets (no regrets)
Layers wash through our hands and
then you never see tomorrow comin'
You only feel the wake of it
Smile, there's no release (no release)
This flood of life won't cease
To leave you lying in wild amazement
Or reeling in the wake of it, oh no
ooooh, ooooh, ooooh,
Smile, there's no regrets (no regrets)
Layers wash through our hands and
then you never see tomorrow comin' (never see tomorrow)
You only feel the wake of it (you only feel the wake of it)
Smile, there's no release (no release)
This flood of life won't cease
To leave you lying in wild amazement
Or reeling in the wake of it, oh no
It's hard enough when we
The hard is on ourself
But then we have to hear the chatter
From everybody else
We get down enough
On our own heartbreak
But there is only so much in
In a visual game
(Chorus)
So they think they can make me weak
Head on me take away from me
That I lose my dignity
Destiny identity
'Cause you spoken I'm not broken
All either slow and down for more
I won't lose it just refuse it
'Cause all I am is my music
I pick myself up from the bottom
Facing all their doubt
'Cause I knew I'd be the first
Person to make it out
I broke all their expectations
And built steps tot he sky
For every person that ever felt
Like they barely getting by
(Chorus)
So they think they can make me weak
Head on me take away from me
That I lose my dignity
Destiny identity
'Cause you spoken I'm not broken
All either slow and down for more
I won't lose it just refuse it
'Cause all I am is my music
(Bridge)
You can't stop my smile
Who do you think you are
'Cause I've got those body rays
No one's standing in my way
(Chorus)
So they think they can make me weak
Head on me take away from me
That I lose my dignity
Destiny identity
'Cause you spoken I'm not broken
All either slow and down for more
I won't lose it just refuse it
'Cause all I am is my music
(Bridge)
You can't stop my smile
Who do you think you are
'Cause I've got those body rays
No one's standing in my way
(Chorus)
So they think they can make me weak
Head on me take away from me
That I lose my dignity
Destiny identity
'Cause you spoken I'm not broken
All either slow and down for more
I won't lose it just refuse it
