Performs at the 2013 Heritage Music Blues Fest In Wheeling WV (Times and dates below) This was our eighth year, and the Heritage Music Blues Fest continues to bring in the best acts and provide the best music value on the east coast. Bruce Wheeler and his family cut through the red tape of committees and major sponsors, and KEEP IT SIMPLE. But more importantly, and this is a top-down cultural effect, this festival engenders a sense of community and belonging that I've NEVER experienced anywhere else. Just look at the people in the crowd. Old friends hooking up, TRUE music appreciators clapping and cheering just as enthusiastically for the unknown acts as for the "headliners." We're not Blues music die-hards -- we like everything, as long as it's good (my YouTube site will attest to that), but what we've found here is the VERY BEST music experience anywhere. The food is amazing (authentic Jamaican Jerk chicken, BBQ (collard greens!), and more. The market/bazaar rivals some arts festivals (Kathy's never come home without spending at least $150) The setting along the Ohio River couldn't be more appropriate for a Blues fest; at least five of my videos feature a river barge rolling behind the artist and you cannot stage a better scene than the HUGE old-fashioned paddle wheeler the American Queen pulling away from the dock during Selwyn Birchwood's set (Proud Mary anyone?).
