The bombshell white paper released by the Scottish Research Society, Much cost, little benefit: The economic consequences of Scottish separation, proves through careful economic analysis that independence could cost every Scottish household £3,500-£5,500 annually, plus another £500-£1,000 annually for every £100,000 borrowed on a mortgage. Written by experienced economist Ewen Stewart of Walbrook Economics, he has combed through the Scottish Government’s own white paper, Scotland’s Future, along with other public records, and has concluded that Alex Salmond’s wishlist is at best, simply unaffordable, and at worst, could bankrupt Scotland. Ten key points that Ewen Stewart raises: • Scotland’s public spending is over 50% GDP, five percent higher than UK average. Spending is £1,267 a head ...

Using the Scottish Government’s own figures, he outlined why Alex Salmond’s financial plans for an independent Scotland simply wouldn’t work, in part due to the cyclical nature of the Scottish economy, declining and unpredictable oil revenue, and the exceptionally high proportion on public spending. Ironically, he shows how Salmond’s vague wish-list of aspirations would actua...
It's all around our town, yeah
it's all around our cities
And it's dragging us down, yeah it's not very pretty
(chorus)
Stamp it into the ground baby, this could be the last chance
It's dragging us down now, this could be the last chance, to slay the beast
Slay the beast
It's killing our land, it's
killing our people
For it has no pity, the beast is just evil
(chorus)
Slay the beast now!
instrumental break
(chorus)
It's using a blindfold, to cover
our eyes
It's gaining a foothold, by using its allies
(chorus)
Slay the beast
Slay the beast
