Mohair /ˈmoʊhɛər/ usually refers to a silk-like fabric or yarn made from the hair of the Angora goat. The word "mohair" was adopted into English before 1570 from the Arabic: مخير mukhayyar, a type of haircloth, literally 'choice', from khayyara, 'he chose'. Mohair fiber is approximately 25–45 microns in diameter. It is one of the oldest textile fibers in use. It is both durable and resilient. It is notable for its high luster and sheen, and is often used in fiber blends to add these qualities to a textile. Mohair also takes dye exceptionally well. Mohair is also warm as it has great insulating properties. It is durable, and resistant to moisture-wicking, stretch, flame and creases. It is considered to be a luxury fiber, like cashmere, angora and silk, and is usually more expensive than most wool that comes from sheep.
Mohair is composed mostly of keratin, a protein found in the hair, wool, horns and skin of all mammals. While it has scales like wool, the scales are not fully developed, merely indicated. Thus, mohair does not felt as wool does.
Charles (Charlie) Rich (December 14, 1932 – July 25, 1995) was an American country music singer and musician. A Grammy Award winner, his eclectic-style of music was often hard to classify in a single genre, playing in the rockabilly, jazz, blues, country, and gospel genres.
In the latter part of his life, Rich acquired the nickname The Silver Fox. He is perhaps best remembered for a pair of 1973 hits, "Behind Closed Doors" and "The Most Beautiful Girl". "The Most Beautiful Girl" topped the U.S. country singles charts, as well as the pop singles charts.
Though he resided in Benton, Arkansas, most of his life, Rich was born in Colt, Arkansas, to rural cotton farmers. His professional musical career began while he was in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1950s. His first musical group, the Velvetones, played jazz and blues and featured his fiancée, Margaret Ann, on lead vocals. Rich left the military in 1955 and tried to farm five acres in Tennessee. He also began performing in clubs around the Memphis area, playing both jazz and R&B. It was during these hard times that he began writing his own material.
Slim Harpo (February 11, 1924 – January 31, 1970) was an American blues musician. He was known as a master of the blues harmonica; the name "Slim Harpo" was derived from "harp," the popular nickname for the harmonica in blues circles.
Born James Moore in Lobdell, Louisiana, United States, the eldest in an orphaned family, he worked as a longshoreman and building worker during the late 1930s and early 1940s. He began performing in Baton Rouge bars under the name Harmonica Slim and later accompanied his brother-in-law, Lightnin' Slim, both live and in the studio.
Named Slim Harpo by producer J.D. "Jay" Miller, he started his own recording career in 1957. His solo debut was the Grammy Hall of Fame single "I'm a King Bee" backed with "I Got Love If You Want It."
Harpo recorded under A&R man J.D. "Jay" Miller, in Crowley, Louisiana for Excello Records based in Nashville, Tennessee, and enjoyed a string of popular R&B singles, including Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee "Rainin' In My Heart" (1961) and the number one Billboard R&B hit "Baby Scratch My Back" (1966). On these recordings he was accompanied by the regular stable of Excello musicians, including Lazy Lester.
Kitty, Daisy & Lewis is a three-piece band comprising the siblings of the Durham family. Their music is influenced heavily by R&B, swing, jump blues, country and Western, blues, Hawaiian and rock 'n' roll. They are all multi-instrumentalists playing guitar, piano, banjo, lapsteel guitar, harmonica, double bass, ukulele, drums, trombone, xylophone and accordion between them.
Kitty Durham is the youngest of the group and primarily sings and plays drums, harmonica, ukulele, banjo, trombone and guitar. Daisy Durham, the eldest, primarily sings and plays drums, piano, accordion and xylophone. Lewis Durham sings and plays guitar, piano, banjo, lapsteel and drums. He collects and plays/DJ's 78rpm records and has built a home studio which consists of antique recording equipment such as 8-track tape machines and vintage BBC and RCA microphones. Kitty, Daisy, and Lewis do not use computers or any digital format during the recording process.
Kitty, Daisy, and Lewis have been performing from a young age, and have therefore built up a fanbase which supposedly includes Chris Martin, Eagles of Death Metal, Dustin Hoffman, and Ewan McGregor. They have had worldwide success with sold-out tours and have opened for Coldplay, Razorlight, Richard Hawley, Jools Holland, and others.
April Stevens (born Carol LoTempio, April 29, 1936, Niagara Falls, New York) is an American singer.
She has recorded since she was 15 years old. Her most popular solo recording was her RCA Victor recording of "I'm in Love Again" (music and lyrics by Cole Porter). Accompanied by an orchestra arranged and conducted by Henri René, Stevens' recording peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in 1951.
Stevens returned to the U.S. chart in 1959 with the song "Teach Me Tiger", which caused a minor uproar for its sexual suggestiveness and consequently did not receive airplay on many radio stations. The song peaked at No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100. Stevens' recording of this song is often erroneously accredited to Marilyn Monroe.
She is perhaps best known for her 1963 Atco Records recording of "Deep Purple" (music by Peter DeRose and lyrics by Mitchell Parish) with her brother Antonino LoTempio (singing under the stage name Nino Tempo). A standard song that Larry Clinton and His Orchestra and band vocalist Bea Wain had popularized in 1939, the Stevens and Tempo version reached No.1 on the Billboard chart in November 1963. The song won the 1964 Grammy Award for Best Rock and Roll Recording. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.
Some days are for number One, and I need some help
Gave a call to number two, (?but) she was ready to go out
You learn something new everday, or so I've been told.
Don't lose your temper, but I forget things as I grow
old.
Never fall in love, if you can't hold it down.
All the goodness you gave out, will surely come back
reound.
And time goes so fast.
Tears, wont last.
Don't worry and never fear, cos it will be okay.
Stand proud with your shoulders back and they will listen
to what you say.
Then loyalty came and sat me down, to see if I was fine.
I asked, 'Please could you stick around', but it didn't
have the time.
And time goes so fast.
Tears, wont last.
Sometimes I think all I learnt, is always be yourself.
And I think of all the days, when I wish I was someone
else.
And time goes so fast.
Tears, wont last.
I'm waiting on a friend on my own
In a town that I used to know
It happens everytime I come back
There's a high before every low
I spent a long time running the long way round
So why oh why
Do we need something to talk about
So much to laugh about
Go get a little (love?)
If you'd like to turn it back to the fore
There's a door I could push you through
Like it or not we never got where we wanted
to start anew
I got my right brain working the wrong way round
So why oh why
Do we need something to talk about
So much to laugh about
Go get a little (love?)
We just need a place we can be without
The small talk of the town
Something to talk about
(Bop bada Bap woohoo!)
Waiting on a friend on my own
In a town that I used to know
Staring a hole in the rose coloured glasses
of long ago
I spent a long time running the long way round
So why oh why
Do we need something to talk about
So much to laugh about
Go get a little (love?)
We just need a place we can be without
The small talk of the town
Something to talk about
Town
You come in so many flavours , At different times
Everyone has their favourite , I've got mine
You don't owe me any favours , Of any kind
You are the buttons to my blazer , In evening time
When it gets cold you keep me together
Whenever
Something happens to blow my mind
I've got to keep it together
Good things happen to those who shine
We've got to keep it together
One day you will be fine
One day you will be mine
You come in so many disguises , That I don't like
I find you so full of surprises , But It's alright
Though I'm a thousand miles away now , You don't mind
Don't you know I love you everyday girl , I think
you'll find
When it gets cold you keep me together
Whenever
Something in the way she she knows me
Something in the way she she knows me
All my love was over flowing
Just depends how much she knows me
All the time she drives me crazy
All the time she drives me crazy
Something in the flow that's flowing
Just depends how much she knows me
The summer sun must always shine
The summer sun must always shine
Shining out for you forever
Just depends how much she knows me
One day you will be fine
One day you will be mine
when my luck runs out
i'll be as busy as a bee
at home watching daytime tv
in my sole company
when my chips are down
i'll get a take-out on a whim
i'm in limbo, dance in a hole
in my soul, just to fit in
won't you fly
don't let life's loves pass you by
you will die
this is the end of the line
when my ship comes in
i'll turn a blind eyei to the sea
drinking wine feeling fine
until closing time closes on me
won't you fly
don't let life's loves pass you by
you will die
this is the end of the line
i went to the water
to wash my hands
but they looked clean to me
i blew my chance
won't you fly
don't let life's loves pass you by
you will die
I'm in disarray, Leave it, I'm sure it will happen
anyway
Just not today
You keep my mind at bay, Leave it all locked up inside
I need a holiday, This kind of thing doesn't happen
anyway
Well, not to me anyway
You lead my mind astray, Leave it all locked up inside
Yeah! (Yeah) Give a little (Love)
Get a lotta (Love) Home (Oh Yeah!)
Yeah! (Yeah) Sing A Little (Love!)
Everyone your (Heart) Knows (Oh Yeah)
Yeah! (Yeah) Live A Little (Yeah)
Look at how your (Love) Grows
Yeah! (Yeah) Give A Little (Love)
Get A Lotta (Love) Love!
I'm in disarray
Believe me, I know it'll happen anyway
Maybe not today
You keep my mind at bay, Leave it all locked up inside
Yeah! (Yeah) Give a little (Love)
Get a lotta (Love) Home (Oh Yeah!)
Yeah! (Yeah) Sing A Little (Love!)
Everyone your (Heart) Knows (Oh Yeah)
Yeah! (Yeah) Live A Little (Yeah)
Look at how your (Love) Grows
Yeah! (Yeah) Give A Little (Love)
Get A Lotta (Love) Love!
Do You?
Yeah! Give a little
Get a lotta Home (Oh Yeah!)
Yeah! Sing A Little
Everyone your *Scream*
Yeah! (Yeah) Give a little (Love)
Get a lotta (Love) Home (Oh Yeah!)
Yeah! (Yeah) Sing A Little (Love!)
