In a town full of fiction, everyone has a version of the truth.

Louis Simo: I can see the pieces. How they should fit. How I want them to fit.
George Reeves: You can't see my penis, can you?
Eddie Mannix: I'm in the picture business.
Chuck: You're not invited, Simo.::Louis Simo: Were you?::Chuck: We're working.::Louis Simo: Why don't you lay off? Mister Harris!::Rick Harris: Hello, Louis.::Louis Simo: You come up from Palos Verdes just to see me?::Rick Harris: I came here to celebrate my friends' anniversary. You've met Mister Mannix.::Louis Simo: No. But we've got people in common. Ain't that right, Eddie?::Eddie Mannix: I've got nothin' in common with you.::Louis Simo: Bernice, the first missus. You like that car crash gimmick, huh?::Eddie Mannix: Rick...::Louis Simo: Riva Watson. She get all clingy? How'd it feel, pounding her face in? Happy times, huh, Ed?::Eddie Mannix: Richard, please.::Louis Simo: George Reeves...::Rick Harris: That's enough, Louis.::Louis Simo: Am I being indiscreet? Bad for business, huh?::Rick Harris: Louis, your problems are your own.::Louis Simo: Ricky, you cover for this prick?::Rick Harris: Whatever you're pursuing here, whatever fantasy... you've constructed will not alter your past.::Louis Simo: You had a bullet put in Reeves' head! He used the studio and the cops - [Chuck punches him in the stomach] You're gonna burn in hell, you sonofabitch!::Eddie Mannix: Come here. You don't know me. You don't know what I think. What I do. I don't let you.::Louis Simo: You're an old man, Eddie. Who's gonna wipe the blood off your hands?::Eddie Mannix: My hands? I'm in the picture business.::Louis Simo: No, you're a murderer.::Eddie Mannix: Prove it. You hear me? Go on, I'm ready. Prove one fuckin' thing.
Toni Mannix: [Reeves steps in to get a photograph with Rita Hayworth] Just made it.::George Reeves: Beg your pardon?::Toni Mannix: Into the picture.::George Reeves: Was someone taking a picture? I hadn't noticed. [Reeves lights Mannix' cigarette]::Toni Mannix: My, we're awfully well-trained, Mister...::George Reeves: George Reeves. [Mannix laughs] Was it the line or the delivery?::Toni Mannix: I laugh when I'm happy.::George Reeves: I see. Well, who is it I'm making so happy?::Toni Mannix: I'm Toni.::George Reeves: Just a poor girl with no last name. [Mannix laughs again] I had no idea I could spread this much joy!::Toni Mannix: Who knows what you might be spreading? [Reeves grins] Your turn.::George Reeves: I'm afraid you've got me!
Louis Simo: Excuse me. You the Times?::Times Reporter: I'm the Times.::Louis Simo: You're the Times? What do you think about Superman offing himself and cutting his beloved fiancee out of the picture, leaving the green to Eddie Mannix's wife? Huh? Like she needs the dough? "Hell hath no fury," huh! I mean, people get killed for less than that.::Times Reporter: You saying George Reeves was murdered?::Louis Simo: It's a heck of a question.::Times Reporter: What's your name?::Louis Simo: Louis Simo. S-I-M-O.
Louis Simo: [about the bullet holes in George Reeves' floor] Since when do suicides miss twice and start over?
George Reeves: [looks at himself in the mirror after putting on Superman costume for the first time] I look like a damned fool!
Louis Simo: Why are you telling me now?::Leonore Lemmon: I'm... I'm just a little blotto, sugar. Kind of horny. And pretty goddamn all alone.::Louis Simo: So...?::Leonore Lemmon: I don't know. And I thought maybe we had something in common.
Detective Doug Johnson: The deceased woke up, joined his guests for approximately half an hour, returned to bed. No sign of forced entry or physical struggle. The Luger, found there, on the floor. Heavily oiled, no prints. He kept it in the nightstand. The slug, there. [Points at the hole in the roof] . And the casing on the bed, underneath the body.::Louis Simo: You want to explain to me how a man can shoot himself and end up on top of the shell?::James Engelman: Is this your strategy, Mister Simo? To impune the laws of physics?::Louis Simo: There are no prints on the gun. What, did he wipe it clean after putting that hole in his head?::Detective Doug Johnson: Fingerprints aren't automatic. Certain conditions have to be present.::Louis Simo: Did you question the people in the house?::Detective Doug Johnson: They all signed sworn statements.::Louis Simo: Forty-five minutes to call the cops, that's plenty of time to come up with some bogus story. But you got sworn statements!::Detective Doug Johnson: Are you accusing me of something?::Louis Simo: Was Reeves checked for powder burns? It's a suicide shot to the temple - where's the burn?::Detective Doug Johnson: When a gun is discharged directly against the ...::Louis Simo: The coroner never checked! He didn't notice the bruises on the body either - which, by the way, aren't automatic, OK? Certain conditions have to be present. Like, maybe a fight with a guy who's about to... cause your expiration. [Jack Paterson notices two more gunshot holes in the floor] Since when do suicides miss twice, lay down a rug, and start over? Is that normal? Just asking.

In Australia's Outback during the early 20th century the impoverished Carmody family lives a nomadic life out of their wagon but the mom and son want to settle while the dad is against it. HERE COME "THE SUNDOWNERS"! Across Six Thousand Miles of Excitement...Across a Whole World of Adventure Comes the Rousing, Story of Real People Called "The Sundowners"! The renowned cast. The rugged country. The joyous adventure classic. The Sundowners are here! A roaring chip on their shoulder---A rousing challenge on their lips! There's a new word for EXCITEMENT...There's a new name for ADVENTURE... HERE COME "THE SUNDOWNERS"! They're real people, fun people, fervent people. They have a tremendous urge to keep breathing. Their rousing story comes roaring across six thousand miles of excitement... FILMED IN AUSTRALIA. YOU are part of its blazing excitement...its elemental drama...its rousing laughter, all of which made 'The Sundowners' the year's record-shattering tops in entertainment ! AUSTRALIA as seen through the eyes of FRED ZINNEMANN who gave you 'HIGH NOON' 'FROM HERE TO ETERNITY 'THE NUN'S STORY', etc etc ACTUALLY FILMED IN AUSTRALIAN LOCATIONS Thrill to a new kind of outdoor adventure ! For such a gifted actor as Robert Mitchum to go unrecognized by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is a shame and makes one glad that George C. Scott did what he did in refusing to receive the Oscar for his amazing work in "Patton." I don't want to mention Marlon Brando because I'm still not certain what he was up to. He seemed to want attention more than to make a statement when he flaunted the Academy. Added to this shame is the same Academy virtually ignoring Mitchum's co-star in this movie Deborah Kerr, also deserving of more formal recognition for her contributions to the Hollywood dream machine. Anyone who has any doubt about the outstanding acting abilities of these two stars needs only watch "The Sundowners" to see where I'm coming from. The rest of the cast in "The Sundowners" add to the overall effectiveness of the movie, especially the brilliance of Peter Ustinov. There is really not much of a story. The film is more of a character study of a vagabond with a wife and a son who is trying to make a living as a sheep drover in the outback of Australia. He encounters a rather mysterious man Rupert Venneker (Ustinov) who becomes his hired hand to help with the sheep. Paddy Carmody (Mitchum) is very happy with this hand to mouth existence, living in a tent or sleeping out amongst the stars, keeping a little change in a jar, but his wife and son prefer a more settled existence, dreaming of owning their own ranch. Director Fred Zinnemann captures the essence of vagabond life down under filming on location in Australia, showing the exotic wild life in all its beauty and spender. Technicolor and wide-screen heighten the viewers enjoyment of this tale of dreams fulfilled and unfulfilled in a land that is still somewhat mysterious to the average American. Of special note is the Australian music used by Zinnemann. In the first pub scene Mitchum bellows out in a drunken Aussie accent one of John Ford's favorites, "Wild Colonial Boy," but then sings a ballad that is seldom heard on the big screen, "Botany Bay," about the infamous penal colony from which modern Australia sprang. The versatile Robert Mitchum was also a singer and songwriter. He helped write the music of his production of "Thunder Road" and even had somewhat of a hit recording of the title song in 1958. Rupert Venneker (Ustinov) makes fun of Paddy's voice in "The Sundowners," but actually it wasn't bad. This is a rather long film, over two hours, but a highly enjoyable one. I first saw it on the big screen when I was a senior in high school. It was one of those flicks that stays with a person. I've had the pleasure of seeing it a few more times since. It is still as fresh and as good as when first released. The Sundowners (1960) Full Length Spaghetti Western Films

Uploaded from my Forscene account Husband and wife team Bérénice Bejo and Michel Hazanavicius did quite well for themselves with their Oscar winning film,The Artist. Having debuted that movie at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2011 they knew there was only one festival to debut their latest collaboration, The Search. It focuses on a nine-year-old Chechen orphan and a teenaged Russian soldier who encounter the many terrible faces of war during the 1999 Russian invasion of the breakaway republic. It is a remake of the 1948 film of the same name, directed by Fred Zinnemann. Bejo plays a woman who works for a non-governmental organization (NGO) and forms a special relationship with the 9 year old boy. Bonnie Laufer Krebs (@movi_boni) spoke with Bérénice Bejo and Michel Hazanavicius about the film and the emotional ties they had to the material.

OKLAHOMA (B.S.O – O.S.T 1955) Dirección: Fred Zinnemann. Intérpretes: Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones, Gloria Grahame, Gene Nelson. An unusually disturbing noir from a director better known for more mainstream fare like High Noon and From Here to Eternity, Act of Violence focuses on a WWII veteran haunted by his past. A film that was close to the director's heart, he said that it represented "the first time that I felt confident that I knew what I was doing and why I was doing it." Van Heflin stars as Frank Enley, a contractor living a peaceful life in a small California town, when Joe Parkson, a man who served in the army with him, arrives in the area, intent on killing him. He follows Frank to a lake where he's fishing but is unable to kill him. When a lakeside bartender tells Frank that a man with a limp is looking for him, Frank is frightened, realizing why he has come. He tells his wife, Edith (Janet Leigh), that Joe is a man who spent time with in a Nazi POW camp, who is now mentally ill, and that he intends to avoid him. When Frank goes to Los Angeles for a business convention, Joe arrives at his house and tells his wife that her husband is responsible for his injury and for the deaths of a number of men. Fearing for her husband's life, Edith heads for L.A. with Joe not far behind.

Intérpretes: Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones, Gloria Grahame, Gene Nelson. UFA FILM NIGHTS - MENSCHEN AM SONNTAG (58' - ROBERT SIODMAK & EDGAR G. ULMER, 1929, D) DJ Raphaël Marionneau People on Sunday was the brainchild of four young film-makers who all went on to be Hollywood greats soon after: Robert Sodmiak, Edgar G Ulmer, Billy Wilder, and Fred Zinnemann. Their semi-documentary snapshot of the lifestyle of young Berliners packs a great many seemingly ordinary impressions and moods into a visually exciting excursion through everyday life a few years before the end of the Weimar Republic. DJ Raphaël Marionneau, a chill-out specialist, creates a relaxed atmosphere in which, among other things, we hear snatches of classical music. Indiewire 2014-12-17Fred Zinnemann (29 April 1907 – 14 March 1997) was an Austrian-American film director. He won two Academy Awards for directing films (From Here to Eternity and A Man for All Seasons) in many genres, including thrillers, westerns, film noir, and play adaptations. Nineteen actors appearing in Zinnemann's films received Academy Award nominations for their performances: among that number are Frank Sinatra, Audrey Hepburn, Glynis Johns, Paul Scofield, Robert Shaw, Wendy Hiller, Jason Robards, Vanessa Redgrave, Jane Fonda, Gary Cooper and Maximilian Schell.
Zinnemann was born to a Jewish family in Vienna, Austria. While growing up in Austria, he wanted to become a musician, but went on to study law. While studying at the University of Vienna, he became drawn to films and eventually became a cameraman. He worked in Germany with several other beginners (Billy Wilder and Robert Siodmak also worked with him on the 1929 feature People on Sunday) before going to America to study film.
Zinnemann's penchant for realism and authenticity is evident in his first feature The Wave (1935), shot on location in Mexico with mostly non-professional actors recruited among the locals, which is one of the earliest examples of realism in narrative film. Earlier in the decade, in fact, Zinnemann had worked with documentarian Robert Flaherty, an association he considered "the most important event of my professional life".
