PETA offers $2,500 reward for info on dead animals in Echo Park
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is offering a $2,500 reward for information regarding seven animals found dead and “arranged in a circle” near the animal rights groups’ offices in Echo Park.
The cat, four pigeons, one crow and a sea gull were discovered Friday on Sunset Boulevard near Rosemont Avenue, according to PETA senior media coordinator David Perle.
Saying that the animals may have been killed in a manner that violated California's anti-cruelty statutes, the group said it would provide the monetary reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Perle said the group suspects the animals were possible victims of a “religious ritualistic killing.” California’s Department of Fish and Wildlife will be investigating the incident, according to PETA.
Anyone with information was asked to call PETA at (757) 622-7382, Ext. 8037.
