Five girls. Five days. One rocking world!
Judge: Emma, Victoria, Melvin C., Melvin B., Geri. You've been charged with releasing a single that is by no means as kicking as your previous records. Nor does it have such a dirty phat bass line. You are sentenced to having your next record enter the charts at 179 and having it fall completely out the following week.::[bangs the gavel]::Judge: Call Hootie and the Blowfish!
Kevin McMaxford: Something's happening to me. What is it?::Brian: You're smiling, sir.
Scary Spice: Listen, you! It's up to us whether we turn up to this gig or not tomorrow, alright?::Clifford: Okay, stay at home! *That's* fine!::Scary Spice: Fine!::Ginger Spice: Fine!::Sporty: What about the fans? We can't let them down!::Deborah: He didn't mean that!::Clifford: Oh, didn't I?::Baby: Can we please stop arguing?::Posh: When you know exactly what is supposed to be happening, would somebody please let me know? [exits angrily]::Scary Spice: Oh, great, Clifford. Now look what you've gone and done!::Clifford: Well, that's just too bad!::Scary Spice: Yeah, well, it is too bad, 'cause, you know what? I'm going home now. See ya! [exits angrily]::Clifford: Bye!::Baby: Can we just *stop* all this? It's doing my head in! [exits]::Sporty: Emma! [glares at Clifford and then follows Emma]::Ginger Spice: I hope you know what you're doing! 'Cause if you're looking for a fight, you're gonna lose! [exits]::Clifford: [to Deborah] What do you think? No, I don't want to know what you think... what do you think?::Deborah: I think you definitely, definitely lost.::Clifford: I think-I think I may have just started the break up of the spice girls! [moans/shouts in dispair] AHHHHHHH!
Baby: In my bed, I've got two teddies, I've got a rabbit, I've got two dollies, and one Susan, she's got a bad eye, [they cut to other peoples' conversations then back to Emma, still talking] and then I've got a green giraffe which I won at a fair, he was the only one left, I felt *really* sorry for him, [cuts back and forth, again] then there's Buzz, Woody, the alien, and then I've got a fluffy pink hot water bottle. So, there's just not enough room for you, mate! [pats him on the shoulder which is sweaty and then looks a the sweat that's now on her hand]... ugh!
Baby: We've got to see Nicola in the morning. The baby's overdue.::Clifford: Babies are allowed to be overdue - you're not.
Piers Cuthbertson-Smyth: [singing while inquiring of three getting in on one ticket] Tonight is the night when three become one.
Dennis: Hey man, I love these girls, and I'd do anything for them, but I won't do that.
Clifford: Look at this! Front page news, again. Suppose the whole lot of you'd been drowned.::Ginger Spice: Well, we weren't though, were we?::Posh: Speak for yourself.::Clifford: What did you think you were doing? Going off like that?::Scary Spice: We were just having fun!::Clifford: What?::Baby: Fun! You know, like ha-ha-ha-ha-HA!::Sporty: Look, Clifford, we're old enough to take responsibility for our own lives, d'you know what I mean?::Clifford: You don't have a life, you have a schedule! You are part of a well-oiled, global machine! There are people everywhere working their butts off for you! People like Deborah, here.::Deborah: Oh, can we leave my butt out of this, please?::Ginger Spice: Oh, just don't be so uptight, Clifford.::Clifford: Uptight? UPTIGHT? You've got a live gig here tomorrow. It's my job to see that you turn up. My *bum* is on the line, here!::Posh: Can you please leave *butts* and *bums* out of this, for one minute?::Sporty: Clifford, some things are more important than gigs, you know.::Clifford: Like what?::Ginger Spice: Like self respect and our freedom, for a start!::Baby: Yeah, and friendship!::Clifford: What are you saying? You-you don't want to turn up here, tomorrow night?::Ginger Spice: [defiantly] Well, maybe we *dont*!::Baby: What'd you say that for?::Ginger Spice: I don't know, I just said it.
The Chief: When the rabbit of chaos is pursued by the ferret of disorder through the fields of anarchy, it is time to hang your pants on the hook of darkness. Whether they're clean or not.
Posh: It's always the same. I never know what to wear.::Sporty: It must be so hard for you, Victoria. I mean, having to decide whether to wear the little Gucci dress, the little Gucci dress, or... the little Gucci dress!::Posh: Exactly.::Baby: I know, why don't you wear the little Gucci dress?::Posh: Good idea. Thanks, Em.

[Outside her flat]::Kate: Don't be fooled by the grim exterior. It's a good deal grimmer inside.
Dexter: All these weeks I've been coming here, I've been wanting to ask you something. What I really want to know is... er, what's your name?::Kate: Kate... Lemmon. Horrid name!::Dexter: No, no, not at all. Could have been worse. Could have been called Hitler, Tampon, or something.
Dexter: God take my testicles and fry them up with bacon!
Dexter: How was your day?::Kate: Not great. A nurses's day is always pretty grisly. A woman I was with gave birth to a baby in a lift.::Dexter: Well, that was okay, er?::Kate: It would have been, but her husband slipped on the afterbirth and broke his collarbone.
Dexter: I hope all your children have very small dicks! And that includes the girls!
Ron Anderson: You're both sacked. I give you a week's notice.::Dexter: You can't do that! I demand to talk to the producer.::Ron Anderson: I am the producer.::Dexter: In that case, you can do that but I'm not going to give you the satisfaction of sacking me because I resign!::Ron Anderson: Fine, then you get no severance pay and I sue your arse for breach of contract.::Dexter: In that case I don't resign, you total and utter bastard!::Ron Anderson: [slams the door in Dexter's face]::Dexter: I hope all your children have very small dicks! And that includes the girls!
Dexter: Please? Just dinner? Let me explain: I was a complete, total, utter idiot! I have learned my lesson completely, totally, utterly!::Kate: Just dinner?::Dexter: Promise!::Kate: What? No sex at the end?::Dexter: Well, maybe - sex? Yes! Alright, if you insist!
Kate: Are you going to walk me home? Or should I just get murdered on my own?
Mary: Well, the only other thing at the moment is a new musical that the RSC are doing.::Dexter: Er, what's it about?::Mary: The Elephant Man.::Dexter: A musical of the Elephant Man? What's it called?::Mary: "Elephant", I think - with an exclamation mark presumably.::Dexter: Pity the poor bastard who has to play the elephant.::Mary: Remember dearest, everyone thought Jesus Christ Superstar was a stupid idea.::Dexter: Jesus Christ Superstar WAS a stupid idea.::Mary: True.
Ron Anderson: Listen, Dexter, is there something troubling you? Something that you would like to talk to someone about?::Dexter: Well, yes, as a matter of fact there is...::Ron Anderson: Then for fuck's sake talk to someone about it, will you? And sort it out before I sack you and hire a lobotomized monkey to play your role. Okay?

Late in the summer children run without clothes
Chill of the winter not far down the road
And in the windows are silhouettes of husbands and wives
Watching in silence till the evening arrives
And there all around insects scream in the trees
The promise of rain can be heard on the breeze
Oh Lord,Oh lord we break so easy
Oh Lord,Oh lord we shatter like glass
The headlights glow and the sky will soon be black
The freeway riders are rolling, heading back
Heading back home
A dark haired woman is driving the roads
Breathing deeply she don't mind being alone
I spend my nights in the reservoir
Let me carry your bags
Let me lighten your load
Let me mellow your mind as we drive down the road
Oh Lady Memphis let me ride
Your beautiful slide guitar suicide
I'll find you baby don't try to hide
You know love is true and it ain't no lie
Tell me how it feels
Tell me how it feels
Tell me how it feels
Baby take off your clothes
And roll with me
Baby nobody knows
That you're here with me
Oh Lady Memphis let me ride
Your beautiful slide guitar suicide
I'll find you baby don't try to hide
You know love is true and it ain't no lie
Tell me how it feels
Tell me how it feels
Tell me how it feels
Well it's late in the day
You say you got to go home
I'll send you on your way
Leave me on my own
Oh Lady Memphis let me ride
Your beautiful slide guitar suicide
I'll find you baby don't try to hide
You know love is true and it ain't no lie
Tell me how it feels
Tell me how it feels
Like an ugly James Dean I was waiting for you
But I was never what you were looking for
I remember all the days I tasted you on my lips
I was in a haze
I was in a haze
You know it's so hard to let you go
Feeling so down yeah I was low
Leave it to die and then divide
Kiss me goodbye
Kiss me goodbye
Baby make the bed and just destroy it again
Like you always did like you did before
I heard you call my name from the top of the stairs
It'll never be the same
It'll never be the same
You know it's so hard to let you go
Feeling so down yeah I was low
Leave it to die and then divide
Kiss me goodbye
Kiss me goodbye
Does anybody else here feel half alive
Staring out the corner of your eyes
You know it's so hard to let you go
Feeling so down yeah I was low
Leave it to die and then divide
Kiss me goodbye
Kiss me goodbye
So long baby kiss me goodbye
So you've loved me now
For half a year
Despite the distance and the fear
Of a falling sky and a gathering storm
That'll blow me back where I came from
That ain't the way I see you baby
I know you're not that kind of girl
When you die I will come looking for you
I wouldn't miss it for the world
An opportunist waiting for a chance
To fuck you over leave you flat
Take off your dress and go straight to the press
To make time on the evening news
Is that the way you see me baby
I know you're not that kind of girl
When you die I will come looking for you
I wouldn't miss it for the world
That murderer who shares your cell
Well his sentence don't have to be yours as well
Cause when you sleep you count the stars
He's making enemies across the bars
That ain't the way I see you baby
I know you're not that kind of girl
When you die I will come looking for you
No love
No love
Stop right where you are
There's no use pretending
There's nothing left to see below
Love below
Love our little window
There's the sound of shouting explosions in the street
So sleep well tonight my dear
Sleep sound shut out the noise you hear
You know it gets harder with each passing year
No love
No love
Stop right where you are
There's no use pretending
There's nothing left to see
Sleep well tonight my dear
Sleep sound shut out the noise you hear
You know it gets harder with each passing year
City in love
City on fire
City in love
City on fire
Blue light of morning palm trees in rows
The end of my affair with the west coast
I was already dressed when she opened her mouth
And decided to give up the ghost
Helicopters the coast guard and radar screens
The haunted and lonely technology
I'll cut all my ties with the dead and the dying
I have been wasting my time
In need of a substance to steady my hands
I'm gonna make the most of this day's plans
Falling in love with the shivering engines
Falling in love with the prettiest sound
I'm on your side
Behind the frontlines
A tear in the fabric that no one could see
But your heart was always unraveling
I gathered the twine as it trailed from behind
Collected it all in my coat
The Pacific Ocean you claim as your own
The vineyard the graveyard the grapes and the bones
Falling in love with the weight of the water
Falling in love with the taste of the ghost
I'm on your side
Behind the frontlines
On drugs in the dark with the one I love
That my friends is where I wish I was
Tied up in twine with the dead and the dying
And dragging back home under her control
She's looking for someone to settle her debts
And I always settle for the silhouettes
Falling in love with some back lighted stranger
Falling in love and going into the red
I'm on your side
I took a camera on vacation to fit Miami in a frame
She didn’t mind she blew me kisses said “Boy what’s
your name?”
I planned my dinner at the hotel
But then my dinner plans got wrecked
An investment banker started something
So I broke his neck
We’re all stuck out in the desert and we’re gonna die
Wipe that sand and salt from your blisterin eyes
The polygraph needles were jumpin
My conscience Edward fell asleep
I can’t trust myself to tell the secrets I was told to
keep
The fastest jackalope in Texas he started running
outta luck
Bit by a snake then he got hit by Jimmy’s semi truck
We’re all stuck out in the desert and we’re gonna die
Wipe that sand and salt from your blisterin eyes
I know sometimes I get distracted
America’s so big and wide
With her long white fingers she says hush
I’m not the marrying kind
My mind moves faster when I’m walking
My baby’s shoes are dipped in bronze
I don’t give a shit she calls the shots that’s how we
get along
We’re all stuck out in the desert and we’re gonna die
Well since our separation you have taken up with thee
They tell you just how wonderful you are
Baby I have nothing but respect for you
I would never try to rip you off
‘Cause I know your heart still runs with mine
You’re just afraid of getting soft
It’s a long, long way to the middle
The middle of the road
Well, it’s summer time in California
I never felt so cold
It’s a long, long way to the middle
The middle of the road
But I still love you baby
Why don’t you come on home?
Well, I put the bat out of my mind and my
Memories are good
The hardwood floor ‘neath your kitchen door
Where you taught me all your dirty words
When we first made love under your ivory cross
It was a rainy Easter Sunday
And we were drinking champagne in the Mulholland hills
When I finally felt that stone roll away
It’s a long, long way to the middle
The middle of the road
But you still got a hold on me
Even though you’re getting old
It’s a long, long way to the middle
The middle of the road
But I still love you baby
Why don’t you come on home?
Why don’t you come on…
Well happy birthday baby
Hope you’re getting realistic
You’re two months and two years away from the same old
sad statistic
To live out in the wilderness
You gotta learn to start a fire
But you can stand out there with your fist in the air
While the rest of us get on with our lives
It’s a long, long way to the middle
The middle of the road
But don’t you listen to me baby
I’ve been bought and sold
It’s a long, long way to the middle
The middle of the road
But I still love you baby
Why don’t you come on home?
The child is an acrobat
He walks upon the wire
Knowing well that he might fall
Still he climbs up higher
If he should slip
He will surely die
And his body will break and his soul will fly
Into the night where the spirits scream
He will leave this world and become a dream
My father was a sailor
He lived upon the water
Knowing well that he might drown
He sailed beyond the harbor
If he should fall
He will surely die
And his body will sink and his soul will fly
Into the night where the spirits scream
He will leave this world to become a dream
He will leave this world to become a dream
Nothing will change
Time goes by and nothing will
My love she is my saving gracev She holds me through the winter
Knowing well that I will leave
Still she holds me closer
And if my heart should break
I will surely die
And my blood will flow and my soul will fly
Into the night where the spirits scream
We will leave this world and become a dream
The soldiers will run and the guns they will blow them away
They're choking on sand in some faraway land today
Don't go
Stay at home
Was it you that I saw in the market just losing your way
With your head in your hands and baby just crying away
Don't go
Stay at home
Such a sad sight to see all the sweethearts alone in their rooms
The dancehalls are empty under the summer moon
Don't go
Stay at home
Back then when the heartbreak came yeah it hit me pretty hard
I waved hello and goodbye to the ghosts on the boulevard
Well oh my baby you're so sweet it makes me cry
Well oh my baby you're so sweet it makes me cry
You're so sweet
You're so sweet
You're so sweet
I wanna cry
La La La La La
Well I dealt with the dope fiends honey just trying to sympathize
He turned and looked at me with his cold debaler red dry clean eyes
Well oh my baby you're so sweet it makes me cry
Well oh my baby you're so sweet it makes me cry
You're so sweet
You're so sweet
You're so sweet
I wanna cry
Your former lover is leaving checking out not coming back
The downtown trains have taken him screaming on down the track
There is a terrible taste on his tongue from the chemicals
He's gonna spit his blood all over the dope white walls
You're so sweet
You're so sweet
You're so sweet
I wanna cry
I take the train across town
New York City take me down
Beneath my feet the city street
The dirt the shit and the concrete
Well I'm on my way
Get closer every day
Gonna close my eyes and pray
For salvation day
Another year another war
Something else worth dying for
So spill your blood for the land you love
And bring them fire from above
Well I'm on my way
Get closer every day
Gonna close my eyes and pray
For salvation day
Breathe honey breathe honey breathe
While you still can
Well I'm on my way
Get closer every day
Gonna close my eyes and pray
Put me in your holy war
I will lay my body down
I will lay my body down
I will run into the flames
Put me in that holy warv We will do most anything
We will ride on angels wings
Like new crowned Christian Kings
All god's children
Got automatic weapons
We're coming after you
We're coming after you
All the Protestant girls
They're all swinging their hips
Fresh coat of red on their lips
In a solar eclipse
I sat on the steps
Church bells rang in my ears
Big blue sky was so clear
When the sun disappeared
White horses on the highway ride under this strange and darker sky
A wind will come and scatter seeds and it will bury all of these
The children sing across the plains their voices rise and quickly fade
On a passenger train
Slightly out of my mind
All the women so kind
Sending chills down my spine
And I fell into sleep
And in that sleep I did dream
That I was torn at the seams
I don't know what it means
Inside of mama baby kicks
And this house is made of stone and sticks
All these things can break my bones and everyone must run alone
I run all night with bursting lungs
I will always be my mother's son
Yes I will always be my mother's son
And I'm no different from anyone
Stopped traffic and stadium lights
That's the view from the sky
As that old black bird flies
I wish I could fly
What will we become
When we sleep in the dirt
Who will rise up first
I walked through walls to be with you
In the early nighttime morning came so soon
And on Thursday night New York glowed
I was in your arms black water flowed
And if you were told
Would you ever know
Do you see me tonight
With the coins on my eyes
Love's sweet surprise
The light upon your face
And all the lovers at war
That roll down the line
Love felt so fine
The light upon your face
And while we lie he is alone
Wide eyed lonely and dreaming of home
There is nothing more that I can say
I Just close my eyes let you carry me away
And if you were told
Would you ever know
Do you see me tonight
With the coins on my eyes
Love's sweet surprise
The light upon your face
And all the lovers at war
That roll down the line
Love felt so fine
The light upon your face
Love is always looking for an open grave
To lay down unfold it's arms and die
Do you see me tonight
With the coins on my eyes
Love's sweet surprise
The light upon your face
And all the lovers at war
That roll down the line
Love felt so fine
The light upon your face
Laura has the brightest eyes
You started over yesterday
In dirty rain the sky was so grey
You listen to the engine sing
And you forget about everything
Let the sun shine
Like it's never shined
Across a blue sky
And watch the time fly
Free all the lonely boys who love no one
And dream on through the years and leave the light on
You never felt a night so cold
Your angry eyes were tightly shut closed
You fell out of love with rock and roll
You shot a hole in your radio
Let the sun shine
Like it's never shined
Across a blue sky
And watch the time fly
Free all the lonely boys who love no one
And dream on through the years and leave the light on
It is best to keep it all inside
When the quicksand fills your boots and rises past your
eyes
It is better to die suffocating and choking on your pride
It is best to keep it all inside
When she’s telling you that you’re no good
And that you’ll never be much more than some fool carved
out of wood
It’s best to kill her with your kindness while you’re
sleeping in her bed
It is best to keep it all inside
It is never too late to come home
You will always have your box in your room
Where your momma lays your clothes out
And she leaves you where you lie
It is best to keep it all inside
When it’s good it’s really good
When there’s fruit up on the table and she treats you
like she should
There’s no need to get excited let your heels click on
the floor
It is best to keep it all inside
We're driving through the canyons
Singing songs from the sixties
The telephone rang, she said,
Babe, do you miss me?
And ain't it a shame not to love the one you're with
Well she spoke with the prettiest mouth
And she scorned me
She sharpened her teeth and flashed them to warn me
That ain't it a shame when you hate the one you loved
Well, it couldn't be me
No, it couldn't be me
No, they're not in your dreams
He don't look a thing like me
Well I dated a rich girl
With a mother of pearl
Who paid rent in her high rise
The weight of the world
And ain't it a shame when you're exchangin all your
brand new gifts
Well after a night on the floor,
she put the chain on her door
I'd worn out my welcome
I guess she got bored
She laid her on my brother
And laid him across my bed
No, it couldn't be me
No, it couldn't be me
No, they're not in your dreams
He don't look a thing like me
Well it sounds like rain
And here that's a rare thing
Out here in the desert,
I'm stealing my water
From a hole in a mountain that flows to the affordable
homes
And from the faucet it drips
And I'll clean up the messes
The others have left us
Well I think they've blessed us
There's a chain on my door
But I'm in love with the one I'm with
And it couldn't be me
No, it couldn't be me
No, they're not in your dreams
He don't look a thing like me
Well it couldn't be me
No, it couldn't be me
No, they're not in your dreams
Well we all gonna see a great empire
cut down in its prime
See its fruit die on the vine
In prime time color time
And there are millions in this world that mercy will
not touch,
but they don't mind that much
Cause that's the way life's always been
But you don't wanna hear 'bout that from me,
I know, I know my place
And God know I don't belong
Singing a worthless freedom song
It's all a waste of time
It's all a waste of time
The pretty girl who lives next door,
she don't know how to lie
When I look into her eyes,
I can see the day I'm gonna die
All that water flows through the cracks and holes in
the silver reservoir
Where your never truly far,
from someone who's exactly like you
It's all a waste of time
It's all a waste of time
Rock 'n' Roll makes me feel guilty
I've got no defense
My sadness makes no sense
I'm gettin' rich and I'm makin' new friends
All I've found is it gets colder further north you go
It's pissin' rain and snow
It's the world I don't want to know
It's all a waste of time
It's all a waste of time
You take it from me
You leave it behind
Ah, you take it from me
You leave it behind
Ah, you take if from me
So honey it’s the end of the affair
It’s the end of the affair and I don’t care
So sugar it’s been a long hard dirty year
Been a long hard dirty year this year
You got all your problems I got mine
My hands are tied behind me
All you do is waste all of my time
I don’t believe it’s true
It ain’t right
It ain’t right
I want you to leave me alone
Just leave me the hell alone on my own
Why won’t you lie and let it lay
Let this dog have his day anyway
You got all your problems I got mine
My hands are tied behind me
All you do is waste all of my time
I don’t believe it’s true
It ain’t right
