Pitmen is a German psychobilly group that began in 1995.
Pitmen were founded in the spring of ’95, when drummer Peer Timmer and double bass-player Grischa Dordelmann where looking for suitable musicians to play with. They became attentive on Christian Waleschkowski (voice / acoustic guitar) who was performing at this time with an Irish Folk group. They also invited Christian Rubbert who played the electric guitar.
In the summer of 1996 they went into a recording studio for three days to record a demo tape. Guido Neumann of “Crazy Love Records” loved it so much, that he released it as their debut EP “Misfits”. Luckily the reviews in the fanzines were very good. Support gigs for bigger bands such as The Meteors and Mad Sin followed.
In winter of ’97 they recorded their first CD called “Listen To The Engine”, which is still a best seller at the record stalls. Their 2nd album “Welcome To The Show” was released (on Picture-Vinyl and CD) in the summer of 2001. The latest four-track EP including the song “Jingle Bells” was released in October 2001.
The Pitmen Painters is a play by Lee Hall based on the Ashington Group of painters. Hall learnt about the group from a Guardian article by Martin Wainwright. This encouraged him to buy the book by William Feaver about the group, on which the play is loosely based. Following a sellout run at both the Live Theatre, Newcastle upon Tyne in 2007 and its transfer to the Royal National Theatre, and returned to the National for a limited season before heading out on a UK Tour. A Broadway production opened on 30 September 2010 following previews from 14 September 2010 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre and played a limited run until 12 December 2010. It featured the original cast.
The Pitmen Painters opened in London's West End in October 2011, where it continues to run at the Duchess Theatre. The Canadian premiere of The Pitmen Painters is currently running as of February 2012 at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton, Ontario. On January 17th,the premiere of "Mineros" (the Spanish adaptation of the play) took place at the Metropolitan theater,in Buenos Aires,Argentina.
Roddy McCorley (Irish: Rodaí Mac Corlaí) (died 28 February 1800) was a United Irishman and a participant in the Irish Rebellion of 1798.
McCorley, the son of a miller, participated in the rebellion in Duneane, County Antrim. Some sources indicate that Roddy was a young Roman Catholic Defender[citation needed], while others claim that he was a United Irishman of the Presbyterian faith[citation needed]. He and his family had been evicted from their farm before the rebellion owing to the execution of his father for stealing sheep, a charge thought to have been politically motivated. After the rebellion, Roddy went into hiding for almost a year, joining a company of soldiers who had deserted to the Irish cause, who were excluded from the terms of "surrender and protection" for fugitives. This company was called the "Archer gang" by their enemies. During an attempt to flee to the United States, McCorley was betrayed, captured by British soldiers and court-martialed in Ballymena. The trial and subsequent execution, where he is named "Roger MacCorley", is given in a contemporary issue of the The Belfast News-Letter issued in March, 1800.

There's a figure of fear standing in the rain
Tell me why have you come back again?
Can't live in misery
And can't let anyone see
The fear finally peels away
But I feel like I'm dying every day
As the needle slides in, the pain slides out
A little less human, a little more doubt
As the needle slides in, the pain slides out
A little less human, a little more doubt
The peace of darkness surrounds me every night
When daybreak returns there's a life-crushing light
No reason to go on
Don't care if I face another dawn
No wish for me to remain
Just want release from this misery and pain
Can't live in misery
And can't let anyone see
No reason to go on
Don't care if I face another dawn
No wish for me to remain
Just want release from this misery and pain
The fear finally peels away
But I feel like I'm dying every day
Drifting in time for eternity and space
A timeless entity with no life, no place
In His afterlife which is death, nothing more
No one to share all the fates God bore
Man created God but time twisted men's minds
And they worshipped a being no one could find
Our savior will walk the earth again they say
But open your eyes and see if he comes your way
How insane are we, the Human Race
Serving and bowing to God in His place
Too many are blind to what lies ahead
They foolishly sit by and pray for the dead
But some came to realize what lies they'd believed
And the mask of "truth" Jesus wore was relieved
Their soul were reborn unto the Left-Hand-Path
Silence whispers across the land
Where evil has twisted the heart of man
Irradiated future is not the way
Chemical warfare makes everyone pay
Grinning rictus tolls the bell
Lonely souls now fall to hell
Figures in black will reign supreme
No one wakes from this infernal dream
Bodies rotting in the merciless sun
Unholy obliteration is finally done
With the stench of death everywhere
Even the war pigs no longer care
Now one lone figure surveys the blasted land
Life choked to death by man's own hand
Forget the screaming children and unmarked graves
Sacrifice is worth it; Think of the lives we saved
Lord of desolation
Lord of desolation
Lord of desolation
Serpent Venom
Serpent venom's got into my blood
And the rush I'm getting through my soul, it floods
Fly me high, so high in the sky
I'll tell you how I feel as I kiss you goodbye
When the serpent's fang bites into my flesh
It's a feeling I want, I get, I relish
And I know that the serpent's ever so so so sly
As he grips and twists and twists at my side
I'm so high up in the sky
But the day's gonna come when I kiss you goodbye
Fang marks show all over my skin
I gotta keep others from where I've been
Don't do as I do: Do as I say
Last Call
My final hour's getting near
The time is getting close I fear
Footsteps at my door I hear
Time to pay for life so dear
I want to flee but it's too late
My soul is in the grip of fate
Close my eyes and one last breath
Feel the cold, cold hands of death
Slowly now I drift away
Into an eerie time and space
I cry out, it does no good
In this lonely strange new place
Blackness closes all around
No longer can I see or feel
The last thoughts slowly echo out
The days are growing shorter, the nights are getting long
The light is slowly fading, the dark is growing strong
I fall into the shadows, I sink inside my mind
The plague is moving through me, I'm running out of time
The twilight turns to shadows, the stars obscured by
night
The blackness grows around me and takes away my sight
I fall into the shadows, I sink inside my mind
Drive Me To The Grave
In sleepless night I hear the thunder
I feel the dead hands round my neck
No telling what's this spell I'm under
I breathe a lifeless, icy breath
Someone help me look for what I'm after
I'm choking on the bad dream that I made
Just try and stop the evil laughter
Or there will be no one to save
Death's confusion, disillusion
And there'll be no one left to save
So if the driver's dressed in black
Child Of Darkness
Come with me now, Child of darkness
Come with me into the night
Let me show you this land of enchantment
Let me be your guiding light
This world is dead: It's broken its back
But I can show you what's being done
It all lies now within your soul, girl
Use your mind and it will come
My child of darkness has given her gift
Of love and lust and burning desire
She lies now while the wind blows gently

I’m so weary, so tired of this place;
All the people so eager to join the Death-Race.
Foolish games have trapped my soul;
the pains of suffering are taking their toll.
Look into my eyes, catch a glimpse of Hell.
Just to be free again, my soul I’d sell.
I’m a prisoner of myself, my fear and need;
Just stick me with the Death-Needle ‘cause I’ll never be free.
Blistering heat burns inside my head,
but it’d be drowned by all the tears I’ve shed.
Tell me my name, let me know I’m alive;
this place, it’s so dark, I’m so scared inside.
I closed my eyes, let everything die;
I walked through Heaven and I touched the sky.
My days of Hell, soon gonna end;
No more worry about you, or a job, or a friend.
Life’d be so much easier if I were to die,
so honey if you care, tell me goodbye.
I closed my eyes, let everything die;
I walked through Heaven and I touched the sky.
Someday you?ll know you’re gonna die and leave all things behind;
Days of blood & roses, buried deep within in your mind.
Have you thought of the newborn baby, born in this wold of sorrow?
Or are you content to live life today, without any worry of tomorrow?
Oh lover don’t show your impartiality;
you just don’t know the burden of reality.
Deathmaster calls, time to kiss you goodbye,
but I’ll see you in Hell when it’s your turn to die.

When you take the time To stop and think
That life is just a game,
You realize it don’t Matter what you do,
‘Cause it all ends up the same.
You live all The Dreams and heartaches,
All the joys of today,
You know it can’t mean a thing
‘Cause life only ends one way.
Just go on down The road alone;
Come ever closer to Doom.
Death’s round the bend Every day,
One-way Road
It's really too bad it had to turn out that way
What happened to the friends you thought you had yesterday
Now they have gone: they've always won
But you know they'll come back when they want some fun
They took you for a ride down a one-way road
They have no respect for feelings they owe
Now they have gone: they've always won
But you know they'll come back when they want some fun
They're knocking again at your front door
But the carpet's stained crimson where you lie on the floor
Now they have gone: they've always won

Into The Grave
You stand alone, hoping for a start
As she goes away, friends drift apart
You know, people have no reason to stay
People turn their heads and then walk away
Step down lower, into the grave
Step down lower, into the grave
But no one cares just about how you feel
'Cause the things you do are strange indeed
And you call out but no one is there
No one nearby, no one to care
And you met a life-long friend
But I think he'll leave you round the bend
He ain't what he seems to you today
Tomorrow he'll lead you to your grave
So you live all of your bloodshot dreams
But no longer hear your female screams
Death to some seems very bad

Days of isolation, nights of loneliness
Consumed by thoughts of evil, filled with hopelessness
Life without a purpose, no reason to go on
Think I will find some angel I can prey upon
These are the voices inside my head
Driving me insane
Saw blade scraping 'cross my skull
Slicing deep into my brain
Kill me—I'm begging you
Kill me—you don't know what I'm going through
Kill me—oh God please
Kill me—put me out of my misery
A cacophony of silence screams inside my mind
Commands me to go out and see what I can find
Clutching to my past, my future is in doubt
But in my present state of mind,
I must take some innocent young thing out
These are the voices inside my head
Driving me insane
Maggots boring through my skull
To feast upon my living brain
Kill me—I'm begging you
Kill me—you don't know what I'm going through
Kill me—oh God please
Kill me—put me out of my misery
There are the days when I just stare into the sun and
burn my eyes
And there are nights where I pray that I don't live to
see the sun rise
I've got to find release from this pain
Think I'm going out of my mind
Bad thoughts are filling my brain
Evil voices, evil choices
I've got to find a way to escape
Afraid that I am losing control
I want to kill and torture and rape
Evil voices, evil choices
The answer is so clear ... I have found my release
Step into the booth, beauty that is youth
And tell him all your sins
And as you confess, you will never guess
Just where his mind has been
Kneel upon the floor, precious little whore
And look into his eyes
Your heart is filled with trust; he feels only lust
Raging deep inside
Fall to your knees
And swallow the sword
Prepare for release
From your saviour
Where is your protector? Does he see the danger
Watching from above?
How can he stand by, seeing angels cry
In his house of love
Dare not tell a soul; he is in control
Do just what he says to
Lay back, close your eyes; soon you'll realize
That God is deep inside you
Fall to your knees
And swallow the sword
Prepare for release
From your saviour
Who's your Messiah? What is his name?
Jesus or Satan? Who will you blame?
Saint or a sinner, Heaven or Hell
Which path will you choose for the soul that you sell?
Buried memories, causing misery
All throughout her life
A slutty fucked-up teen, drawn to men so mean
A hostile, frigid wife
And what about the saviour? Has he changed his ways?
And faced the awful truth?
"Father, I have sinned" ... "Then please, come right in
Silver moon above, silver flash
Feel the power as he springs for attack
Crimson ribbon twisting in the air
You better start running and never look back
I see the blackened mist filling your eyes
Creeping darkness blots sun from the sky
Nowhere to turn; Starlight burns
And the end of days won't change his ways
Godless man
In a godless time
Ancient avenger
Rules the Circle of Nine
Silenced scream
Crushed velvet dream
Non one alive
Will ever escape this fate
The descending blade
You cannot evade
He grins
As he sees life evaporate
Facing your fears
See the urban decay
All the lonely years
And haunted days
Life turns to death
Under moonless skies
With one last breath
See the glowing eyes, burning in the night
Hear the earthly sighs, yearning for the light
A promise of salvation, facing desolation,
Now you know the pain of isolation.
Child of darkness, son of light
Cast in shadows, born of night
Will Mankind ever understand?
Who can know His master plan?
Son of darkness, child of light
Facing God's unholy plight
Pay up now or you'll suffer later
When you face the wrath of the Creator
The heavens parted with thunder and light
And centuries passed in blinding night
One lone figure died for you and me
Prowling through the nighttime street
Watching you move from head to feet
Watchin' every move you make...
You slink around, don't even smile
Knowing I want you all the while
Yes, you know I want you...
I want you now; I need you now
I love you now; I kill you now
All razor eyes and flashing teeth
You're pure animal underneath
Like a savage beast...
Vicious heart pounding, hear me growl
Can't wait no more—the time is now
Don't you know the time is now
I want you now; I need you now
I love you now; I kill you now
Surrender baby and stab my heart
I always loved you from the start
Always loved you from the start
Hurricane fury and blackened sky
The time is now for you to die
You know you're gonna die
I kill you now; I kill you now
Listen – close – you can hear it
Now you better learn to fear it
All consuming hunger terrifies
Unseen menace liquefies
Scrape the flesh right off your bone
Now you learn how to die alone
Once it walked as you and I
'Til humanity perished inside
There was only one thing left;
Instantaneous death
In an earlier incarnation
It had a soul, imagination
A face and a name
Now nothing will ever be the same
They should have known
Leave it all alone
Before everything human
Was taken away
By the power of darkness
When night consumes the day
Night consumes the day...
Now they turn...aside
Try to run...and hide
No one will attempt to resist
Just ignore it all
This man can no longer exist
Come on down to this place I know
I'll show you it has a very grand show
Locked behind bars, it keeps you sound
Are all of the beasts this race has found
Politicians and chemical men
Fed on lies and pollution again
Our government is as polluted as the air
