Cruise Te Anau - Relax on a boutique cruise to the South Fiord of Lake Te Anau. Join Peter, your personal Skipper/Guide, on a gentle bush/nature walk to discover the Hidden Lakes.
Te Anau-Au Glowworm Caves - A boat trip and guided tour into the Aurora Caves system by walking path and small boats within the cave itself where you will see thousands of glow worms. The caves are only accessible by boat, and Real Journeys operates a quality catamaran for a 30 minute cruise each way. You spend approximately 35 minutes underground, where you will see some spectacular underground waterfalls, some high ceilings, and many other interesting things with a professional guide. Suitable for everyone except infants. Be aware you will need to bend over considerably at the entrance, only 1m high for 3-4m. $75/adult, $22/child, although promotions often apply. Approximately 2 and 1/4 hours total.
Lake Marian - Off the Hollyford road on the way to Milford lies one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Gordon Kane's art gallery on the lakefront, paintings of the deer hunting glory days.
Astronomy Fiordland, Night Sky Safaris. Fiordland may have one of the lowest levels of light pollution in the world for an unbelievable view of the night sky. Each guest gets their own binoculars during the safari, a maximum group size of 8 share a high powered telescope, and Richard uses a really cool star pointer. Highly informative and interesting, but dress warmly! $45/adult, $30/child. c. 1.5h, bookings essential.

Any of the many tracks located in the area. Te Anau isn't called the walking capital of the world for no reason! The major tracks that can be started from the surrounding area include: Kepler Track, Routeburn Track and Milford Track.
Only a short walk from Te Anau's town centre, the Te Anau Wildlife Centre provides the unique opportunity to view some of New Zealand's rarest endangered birds. Be sure to see the Takahe, a large flightless bird with beautiful blue plumage and an enormous red beak. With only 225 Takahe left in New Zealand (and, consequently, the entire world), this is perhaps your only opportunity to see this majestic bird.
Don't miss out on going to Milford Sound, taking a cruise, and enjoying the scenic wonderland. For once its probably better to take a bus, they don't rush it and you get good quality commentary.

Top Tourist Attractions in New Zealand
Milford Sound
========
Milford Sound is among the most famous tourist attractions in New Zealand. Lying at the most northern and accessible end of Fiordland National Park, Milford sound offers some of the world's most staggering coastal scenery with its dramatic peaks and dark blue waters. The area's frequent downpours only enhance this South Island beauty, sending numerous waterfalls cascading down the cliffs.
Bay of Islands
==========
The Bay of Islands is one of the most popular holiday destinations in New Zealand. The picturesque area contains 144 islands, many secluded bays and some great sandy beaches. This beautiful bay has an abundance of marine life including whales, penguins, dolphins and the big marlin. Not surprisingly, it is a popular tourist spot for sailing yachts on world cruises and international sport fishermen.
Tongariro National Park
===================
The first national park of New Zealand, Tongariro is known for its surprises and extremes. The park's diverse range of ecosystems includes tranquil lakes, active volcanoes, herb fields, untamed forests and desert-like plateaus. Start your trek at the Whakapapa Visitor Center, just a three hour hike from the stunning Taranaki Falls. The short hike will take you through scrubland and forest and across the lava line of volcanic eruptions from hundreds of years ago.
Rotorua
========
Rotorua is known as the thermal wonderland of New Zealand. There are numerous geysers and hot springs in and around the city. Many of these are in parks and reserves. Natural eruptions of steam, hot water and mud occasionally occur in new locations. Nearby Wai-O-Tapu is also a popular tourist attraction with many hot springs noted for their colorful appearance, in addition to the Lady Knox Geyser.
Franz Josef Glacier
=============
This glacier, located within Westland National Park in the southwest, is one of the world's most accessible. Visitors can walk right up to the foot of the massive glacier or take a helicopter ride over the dazzling Ice Age remnant. Together with Fox Glacier it is one of South Westland's major drawcards for tourists.
Kaikoura
========
This small coastal town on the South Island is a haven for seafood lovers. You can spot fur seals, dolphins, sperm whales and albatrosses off the shore, then indulge in a feast of fresh crayfish, mussels, blue cod and more. Land lovers can take a wilderness walk through the untamed and dramatic Kaikoura forest.
Napier Art Deco
========
Napier, a small city in Hawke's Bay on the North Island's east coast, is famous for its eye-catching art deco architecture. Most of Napier was leveled by an earthquake in 1931. The rebuilding period coincided with the short-lived Art Deco era and as a result Napier's architecture is strikingly different from any other city in the world. Thousands of tourist visit Napier every February for the Art Deco Weekend, an event dedicated to the style, vintage cars, picnics and the soapbox derby.
Sky Tower
===============
The Sky Tower is an observation and telecommunications tower located in New Zealand's largest city. At a height of 328 meters (1,076 ft) it is the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere and the Sky Tower has become an iconic structure in Auckland's skyline. The tower offers views of up to 80 km away and fine dining in the Orbit revolving restaurant.
Abel Tasman National Park
===============
Located on the northern tip of the country's South Island, this vast national park is a hiker's dream. Closed to vehicles, one must enter by boat, foot or small plane, but the trip is well worth it. While traversing the mountainous terrain, blue penguins, wekas, oyster catchers, wood pigeons and other rare birds can all be seen.
Coromandel Peninsula
==============
This north-eastern peninsula is famous for its white and golden sand beaches that frame magnificent coastal scenery, forests perfect for days of exploration and other natural wonders. Start your visit in Thames, a small but picturesque city with a rich history of gold mining. Don't miss a stop at Hot Water Beach, where visitors can dig their own hot pool from the springs under the sands.

If Queenstown was a person, it would be a teenager.
So the best way to appreciate Queenstown is to act like a teenager;
do things for the first time, like skydiving or bungy,
stay up and party all night,
and then laze about in a spa the next day.
Wenn Queenstown war ein Mensch, wäre es ein Teenager zu sein.
Der beste Weg nach Queenstown zu schätzen ist, wie ein Teenager verhalten;
Dinge tun, zum ersten Mal, wie Fallschirmspringen oder Bungee,
bleiben und Party die ganze Nacht,

Milford Sound is probably one of New Zealand's most well known scenic attractions.
See in Milford Sound, New Zealand
==================
Spectacular scenery. Dolphins, waterfalls, seals and penguins. Of special interest is the New Zealand Glow Worm. Watch out for its bioluminescent glow after dark.
Sheer rock walls coming straight out of the sea, fantastic waterfalls and Mitre Peak.
Do in Milford Sound, New Zealand
=============
Cruises
-----------
There are several boat operators who offer day cruises. Most guided tours from Te Anau or Queenstown arrive in Milford around noon, so it is advisable to escape the crowds by going on an early-morning or late-afternoon cruise. If you intend to take photographs, the quality of light is usually better around those times as well.
There is also the option of an extended cruise on Milford Sound - overnight cruises operated by Real Journeys). See "Sleep" section below.
Cruise Milford NZ. Day cruises on Milford Sound. Boats are able to get close to basking seals, bush-clad cliffs and waterfalls tumbling off the sheer rock faces.
Milford Deep Underwater Observatory. This place can only be reached via one of the cruises. What they are trying to do is interesting, but they charge a lot to see the place and you get a whopping 15min total there. There is not even enough time to look through the displays.
Real Journeys offer a range of cruising options, from scenic(1h40) through to nature (2h30) and even overnight cruises where you sleep aboard the purpose built Milford Mariner and have the option of kayaking around the Sound.
Kayaking
--------------
Your proximity to the water in a kayak just serves to make you feel even smaller, and makes the Sound seem even more vast! The pros of doing it this way are that you get to go places that the big cruise ships cannot, you see a great deal more wildlife (penguins, seals etc.) as you move more quietly through the water, you are part of a small group (between 6 and 8) and so getting more personal attention from your guide, and you get some exercise in the process. Cons are that it is quite hard work and you should be prepared to get cold and wet. A good way of doing this kind of trip is on a 'one day package'. You can be picked up from your accommodations early in the morning (around 06:30) in Te Anau by minibus and driven to Milford, where you are kitted out with all the relevant kayak and safety gear and given waterproof bags to take cameras and food with you. The trip lasts till the late afternoon (lunch is taken in your kayaks in the middle of the Sound) and you will be driven back for around 18:00.

Fiordland National Park covering over 1.2 million hectares, is New Zealand's largest National Park and one of the largest in the world. The park, together with the adjoining Mount Aspiring National Park, occupies the south west corner of the South Island and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Fiordland is one of the least explored areas of New Zealand. Although the park has about 500 km of formed walking tracks, these barely scratch the surface. Like all of the New Zealand National Parks, it is managed by the Department of Conservation. The department aims to keep development to a minimum, consistent with protecting the environment and managing human activities to minimise conflicting needs. There are relatively few restrictions on individual visitors, though commercial activity is carefully, (some might say strictly), controlled.
The main visitor information centre is in Te Anau. There are Park Ranger outposts at major visitor locations. Visitors intending to stay in the park overnight are advised to inform the park rangers of their intentions. In the event of an emergency, these intentions will be used as part of any Search and Rescue operation.
