The Hong Kong Stock Exchange (SEHK) is a stock exchange located in Hong Kong. It is Asia's third largest stock exchange in terms of market capitalization behind the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and the sixth largest in the world. As of 30 November 2011, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange had 1,477 listed companies with a combined market capitalization of HK$16.985 trillion.Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing is the holding company for the exchange.
The history of the securities exchange began formally in the late 19th century with the first establishment in 1891, though informal securities exchanges are known to have been in existence since 1861. The exchange has predominantly been the main exchange for Hong Kong despite co-existing with other exchanges at different points in time. After a series of complex mergers and acquisitions, in the twenty first century, HKSE remains the core. From 1947 to 1969 the exchange monopolised the Hong Kong market.

Hong Kong (Chinese: 香港) is one of two special administrative regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the other being Macau. A city-state situated on China's south coast and enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea, it is known for its expansive skyline and deep natural harbour. With a land mass of 1,104 km2 (426 sq mi) and a population of seven million people, Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Hong Kong's population is 95 percent ethnic Chinese and 5 percent from other groups. Hong Kong's Han Chinese majority originate mainly from the cities of Guangzhou and Taishan in the neighbouring Guangdong province.
Hong Kong became a colony of the British Empire after the First Opium War (1839–42). Originally confined to Hong Kong Island, the colony's boundaries were extended in stages to the Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 and then the New Territories in 1898. It was occupied by Japan during the Pacific War, after which the British resumed control until 1997, when China resumed sovereignty. The region espoused minimum government intervention under the ethos of positive non-interventionism during the colonial era. The time period greatly influenced the current culture of Hong Kong, often described as "East meets West", and the educational system, which used to loosely follow the system in England until reforms implemented in 2009.
A stock exchange is a form of exchange which provides services for stock brokers and traders to trade stocks, bonds, and other securities. Stock exchanges also provide facilities for issue and redemption of securities and other financial instruments, and capital events including the payment of income and dividends. Securities traded on a stock exchange include shares issued by companies, unit trusts, derivatives, pooled investment products and bonds.
To be able to trade a security on a certain stock exchange, it must be listed there. Usually, there is a central location at least for record keeping, but trade is increasingly less linked to such a physical place, as modern markets are electronic networks, which gives them advantages of increased speed and reduced cost of transactions. Trade on an exchange is by members only.
The initial offering of stocks and bonds to investors is by definition done in the primary market and subsequent trading is done in the secondary market. A stock exchange is often the most important component of a stock market. Supply and demand in stock markets are driven by various factors that, as in all free markets, affect the price of stocks (see stock valuation).
Lord, hear me now
Don't put an English voice
Crashing out into the noise
Electric fences and guns
You swallow me
I'm a pill on your tongue
Here on the igniting floor
The neon lights make me numb
And laid in a star's light
It begins to explode
And all the people in a dream
Wait for the machine
Pick the shit up, leave it clean
Kid, hang over here
What you're learning in school
Is the rise of an eastern sun
On a big blue for everyone
The radio station disappeared
Music turned into thin air
The DJ was the last to leave
She had well conditioned hair
Tempi moderni nuovi forti interessanti
volevo dirti
Hong Kong ritorna a casa
buona fortuna Hong Kong
