Lancelot Richard Gibbs (born 29 September 1934) is a former West Indies cricketer, one of the most successful spin bowlers in Test cricket history. He took 309 Test wickets, only the second player (after Fred Trueman) to pass 300, the first spinner to pass that milestone, and had an exceptional economy rate of under two runs per over. He was, however, a very poor batsman, who never made a half-century in first-class cricket.
Gibbs made his first-class debut in 1953–54, playing for British Guiana against MCC at his home ground of Bourda. In MCC's first (and indeed only) innings, he bowled Denis Compton for 18 to leave the tourists precariously poised at 51/3. Gibbs also took the wicket of Tom Graveney – but by then a mammoth fourth-wicket partnership of 402 between Graveney and Willie Watson had propelled MCC towards an innings victory, so Gibbs did not get a second chance to bowl.
Gibbs played a few more first-class games for British Guiana over the next few years, and some good performances (including 4/68 in the final of the Quadrangular Tournament against Barbados in 1956–57) gained him selection for the West Indies side to host Pakistan the following season. He made his debut in the second Test at Port-of-Spain, taking four wickets in the match, and retained his place for the rest of the five-match series, his first five-wicket haul in first-class cricket coming when he claimed 5/80 in the fourth Test at Bourda.
Geoffrey Boycott OBE (born 21 October 1940) is a former Yorkshire and England cricketer. In a prolific and sometimes controversial playing career from 1962 to 1986, Boycott established himself as one of England's most successful opening batsmen. Since retiring as a player, Boycott has found further success as a cricket commentator.
Boycott made his international debut in a 1964 Test match against Australia. He was noted for his ability to occupy the crease and became a key feature of England's Test batting line up for many years, although he was less successful in his limited One Day International (ODI) appearances. He accumulated large scores – he is the fourth highest accumulator of first-class centuries in history, and the first English player to average over 100 in a season (1971 and 1979) – but often encountered friction with his team mates. Journalist Ian Wooldridge commented that "Boycott, in short, walks alone", while cricket writer John Arlott wrote that Boycott had a "lonely" career. Others, however, have stated that the extent of his introverted nature has been exaggerated, and that while he was "obsessed with success" he was not a selfish player.
Melvin Gibbs is an American bass guitarist, composer, and producer who has appeared on close to 200 albums in diverse genres of music. Gibbs has been called "the best bassist in the world" by Time Out New York magazine.[citation needed]
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Gibbs attended Medgar Evers College and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. After attending and graduating from the Berklee College of Music, Gibbs first came to public notice as a member of the group Defunkt which was a mainstay of the early 1980s downtown New York scene. Throughout most of the 1980s, he played in drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson's Decoding Society alongside guitarist Vernon Reid, as well as playing with guitarist Sonny Sharrock and saxophonist John Zorn. Additionally with Jackson and guitarist Bill Frisell he was also a member of the group Power Tools. Gibbs co-led the band Eye and I and he is an original member of the Black Rock Coalition.
He was a member of the avantmetal Rollins Band from 1993 to about 1998, and again in 2006 when the group briefly reformed. As a member of the Rollins Band he was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1995. Gibbs has also recorded with hip-hop artists Dead Prez, Brazilian artists Caetano Veloso and Marisa Monte, Latin jazz artist Eddie Palmieri, Nigerian artist Femi Kuti, and guitarist Marc Ribot. He has also produced albums by guitarist/singer Arto Lindsay and turntablist DJ Logic.
Lance David Carter (born December 18, 1974 in Bradenton, Florida) is a former Major League Baseball relief pitcher. He has pitched in Major League Baseball with the Kansas City Royals (1999) Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2002-2005), and Los Angeles Dodgers (2006). He bats and throws right-handed. He is currently the pitching coach of the Single-A Williamsport Crosscutters of the New York – Penn League.
Selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 21st round of the 1994 Major League Baseball Draft out of Manatee Community College, Carter spent 6 years in the Royals minor league system, including losing the entire 1997 season due to injury, before making his major league debut with the Royals on September 15, 1999. Carter did not play in the majors in 2000 and became a free agent at the end of the season. He did not play at all in 2001 and signed with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on January 11, 2002. Carter had a career year in 2003; Carter became the Devil Rays closer and was elected to the All-Star Game as a reserve, but did not play. During the 2003 season, he went 7-5 with a 4.33 ERA. In 2004, Carter had a 3.47 ERA in 56 games, and a 4.89 ERA in 39 games in 2005.
Bernard Lance Cairns (born 10 October 1949 in Picton, New Zealand) is a former all-rounder who played for the New Zealand cricket team, and is the father of New Zealand cricketer Chris Cairns.
He was a member of both the one-day and Test New Zealand teams between 1974 and 1985. He also appeared for Central Districts, Northern Districts and Otago in New Zealand domestic cricket. He was also the professional for Bishop Auckland in the North Yorkshire and South Durham League in the North East of England.
New Zealand were favourites coming into the finals of the World Series Cup, a tournament heavily hyped as a chance for New Zealand to gain 'revenge' after the 'underarm' incident in 1980/81. The 1982/83 series saw New Zealand achieve an impressive run of victories in the ten match qualifying round with Australia and England. This included three consecutive wins over Australia and a famous match in Adelaide, where two world records were broken on the same day. New Zealand scored a world record 297-6, in beating England's 296-5.
A thousand years of slavery, coming to an end, and the wars created, destroyed so many men. All those lives lost, in the name of Jesus Christ, believing in blind faith, they made their sacrifice. Destroying cultures or anything pure in it's path, follow the church or you'd face it's wrath. On blood and flesh, your empire was built, for the genocide of nations, fess up to your guilt.
SINNERS REPENT... BOW BEFORE ME!!! YOUR SAVIOR IS NEAR... BOW BEFORE ME!!! GIVE UP YOUR SOUL... BOW BEFORE ME!!! THERE'S NOTHING TO FEAR... BOW BEFORE ME!!!
The forces of nature takes it's course, pride topples guilt, with no remorse. Myth of the century is proven wrong, might masters right, the weak don't belong. Pride and hatred go hand in hand, For centuries of preaching your hate, once again, the lion's den awaits your fate.
Lions, whips, Judeo-Christians, ...LET THE SPECTACLE BEGIN!!! Lions, whips, Judeo-Christians, ...CHEERING ON AS THE COLOSEUM FILLS!!! Lions, whips, Judeo-Christians, ...CENTURIONS FLOGGING YOUR BODIES SORE!!! Lions, whips, Judeo-Christians, ...CAN YOU HEAR THE MIGHTY LIONS ROAR!!!
Claiming to be messengers of peace, but there are so many child molesting priests. Acts of perversions have gone untold, how many lies are bought and sold? Blind lead the blind in search of faith, only feeling guilt with no pride in their race. Who gets saved when their walls tumble down, tell me where the fuck is your messiah now.
WE ARE ALL EQUAL... BOW BEFORE ME!!! IN THE EYES OF HIS GRACE... BOW BEFORE ME!!! HE IS COLORBLIND... BOW BEFORE ME!!! HE DOESN'T SEE RACE... BOW BEFORE ME!!!
