MIPCOM is a TV and entertainment market which is held in the town of Cannes once every year, normally in October. It is essentially a content event for co-producing, buying, selling, financing and distributing entertainment content. It provides the people involved in the TV, film, digital and audiovisual content, production and distribution industry a market and networking forum to discover future trends and trade content rights on a global level.

Previous keynote speakers include numerous media CEOs: Jon Feltheimer, Lionsgate (US), Leslie Moonves, CBS (US), Jana Bennett, BBC (UK), Gerhard Zeiler, RTL Group (Luxembourg), Harry Sloan, MGM (US), Subhash Chandra, ZEE Networks (India), Dr. Hyun-Oh Yoo, SK Communications/ Cyworld (Korea).

Increasingly present are new media players such as Facebook (European head Joanna Shields keynoted in 2010); and stars such as the casts of Mad Men & The Walking Dead, KISS' Gene Simmons, there to promote their shows.

MIPWORLD is the event's online matchmaking community, used before, during and after the market in Cannes.

Mike Lang is the current Chief Executive Officer of Miramax Films.

Lang was a former News Corp. executive. In that job he had a hand in acquiring MySpace and starting up Hulu. Lang was a consultant on the deal for Filmyard Holdings to purchase Miramax Films from Walt Disney Company. At closing he was named CEO of Miramax Films.

Ian James Thorpe OAM (born 13 October 1982), nicknamed the Thorpedo and Thorpey, is an Australian swimmer who specialises in freestyle, but also competes in backstroke and the individual medley. He has won five Olympic gold medals, the most won by any Australian, and with three gold and two silver medals, was the most successful athlete at the 2000 Summer Olympics. At the 2001 World Aquatics Championships, he became the first person to win six gold medals in one World Championship. In total, Thorpe has won eleven World Championship golds, the second-highest number of any swimmer. Thorpe was the first person to have been named Swimming World Swimmer of the Year four times, and was the Australian swimmer of the year from 1999 to 2003. His athletic achievements made him one of Australia's most popular athletes, and he was recognised as the Young Australian of the Year in 2000.

At the age of 14, he became the youngest male ever to represent Australia, and his victory in the 400 metre freestyle at the 1998 Perth World Championships made him the youngest ever individual male World Champion. After that victory, Thorpe dominated the 400 m freestyle, winning the event at every Olympic, World, Commonwealth and Pan Pacific Swimming Championships until his break after the 2004 Olympics. Aside from 13 individual long-course world records, Thorpe anchored the Australian relay teams, numbering the victories in the 4 × 100 m and the 4 × 200 m freestyle relays in Sydney, among his five relay world records. His wins in the 200 m and 400 m and his bronze in the 100 m freestyle in Athens have made him the only male to have won medals in the 100–200–400 combination.

Ryan Colin Kavanaugh (born December 4, 1974) is an American film producer and entrepreneur who is the founder and CEO of Relativity Media.

Kavanaugh studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara and later attended the University of California, Los Angeles. While in UCLA, he had been working for Dean Witter Reynolds, but did not graduate.

His father is a German doctor, who is involved with cure for cataracts and can speak nine languages.

On July 7, 2011, Kavanaugh married dancer Britta Lazenga in Capri.

In 2004, Kavanaugh founded Relativity Media. Its first feature film credit was RV. In 2008, the company began agreements with Sony Pictures Entertainment, Lions Gate Entertainment, Walt Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Universal Studios to co-finance its films until 2015.

In January 2009, Relativity acquired Rogue Pictures from Universal for reportedly $150 million. In July 2010, the company took over the distribution and marketing operations and some assets of the Starz Overture Films subsidiary.

Jeffrey Katzenberg (born December 21, 1950) is an American film producer and CEO of DreamWorks Animation. He is perhaps most known for his period as chairman of The Walt Disney Studios when Disney produced some of its biggest hits, including Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, The Little Mermaid, Pretty Woman, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act and The Lion King. As a founder and CEO of DreamWorks Animation, he has overseen the production of such animated franchises as Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon.

Katzenberg was born in New York City, the son of Anne, an artist, and Walter, a stockbroker. He attended the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, graduating in 1969.

Katzenberg began his career as an assistant to producer David Picker, then in 1974 he became an assistant to Barry Diller, the Chairman of Paramount Pictures. Diller moved Katzenberg to the marketing department, followed by other assignments within the studio, until he was assigned to revive the Star Trek franchise, which resulted in the hit film, Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979). He continued to work his way up and became President of Production under Paramount President Michael Eisner.
