Weather Word of the Week: Warm Front

This week's weather word is heating things up: Warm front A warm front is a narrow transition zone separating advancing warmer air from retreating cooler air. Air behind these fronts is warmer and typically more humid than the air it is replacing. On a weather map, they're the red lines with red half circles aimed in the direction the front's moving. The easy way to remember this one: Red is hot and those half circles are like half suns getting ready to heat things up. When a warm front moves into your area, there's a good chance you'll see some light to moderate steady precipitation as it's passing. Afterward, it'll feel warmer and more humid than it did before.
