Plot
Fact-based story of a young boy who lost his right arm in a childhood accident, but went on to fulfill his dreams of playing major-league baseball. Pete Gray had to overcome the early taunts of his childhood playmates. With the support of his Pennsylvania coal mining father and his brother, who dreams of being a boxer, he learns to battle for what he wants. Finally in 1943, he is hired to play for a minor league team - the Memphis Chicks in the Class A Southern Association. Initially considered a freak and a box office attraction, he survives the taunts of his teammates and bats .333 his rookie year, steals 63 bases and led the league' outfielders in fielding percentage. Ultimately he won the league's MVP award. In 1945, the St. Louis Browns brought him into the major leagues. A parallel story is also told about the ball player's friendship with a young boy who had also lost his arm and dreamed of one day playing baseball. In fact the idea for the movie came from co-producer James Keach whose brother had gone to school with the younger boy and became aware of the events involving the ball player and boy.

Two Mighty Armies Trampled Its Valley... A Fighting Family Challenged Them Both!
Lt. Johnson: When are you going to take this war seriously, Anderson?::Charlie Anderson: Now let me tell you something, Johnson, before you get on my wrong side. My corn I take seriously, because it's mine. And my potatoes and tomatoes and my fence I take note of because they're mine. But this war is not mine and I don't take note of it.
[at the site of his wife's grave]::Charlie Anderson: I don't even know what to say to you any more, Martha. There's not much I can tell you about this war. It's like all wars, I guess. The undertakers are winning. And the politicians who talk about the glory of it. And the old men who talk about the need of it. And the soldiers, well, they just wanna go home. I guess you're not so lonely any more, with Ann and James and Jacob. And maybe the boy. You didn't know Ann, did you? Well, you'd like her. You'd like her, Martha. Why, she and James are so much alike, they're just like... no... no... we were never that much alike, were we Martha? We just sorta grew alike through the years. But I wish, I wish I could just know what you're thinking about it all, Martha. And maybe it wouldn't seem so bad to me if I knew what you thought about it.::[He notices the church bells are ringing]::Charlie Anderson: You never give up, do you?
Charlie Anderson: What do you do with dead soldiers?
Charlie Anderson: Jacob, you look like you got somthin' on your mind. Go ahead, say what you think.::Jacob Anderson: We've been through it all before.::Charlie Anderson: Now now, don't pat around with me. You were raised to say what you think. You were all raised to say what you think. If there's anything I can't stand, it's a lot of noisy silence. Now, come on, let's have some talkin' here.::[Jacob stands up]::Charlie Anderson: Well, if you're going to make a speech, I'm sorry I said it.
Jacob Anderson: I know how you feel about this war, Pa. I guess we more or less feel the same way, but I don't see how we can sit by and ignore it anymore. Now you say it's not our business, not our fight, but we're Virginians and I believe that anything that concerns Virginia concerns us.
Charlie Anderson: John...::John Anderson: Sir?::Charlie Anderson: What are you going to do? You gonna keep your slaves or let them go free?::John Anderson: You know I don't have any slaves, Pa.::Charlie Anderson: That's right, John, you don't have a slave to your name, do you.
Charlie Anderson: Suppose you had a friend that owned slaves and suppose somebody was going to come and take them away from him. Would you help him - fight to help him keep them?::Nathan Anderson: No sir!::Charlie Anderson: Your name's Nathan, isn't it?::Nathan Anderson: You know my name, Pa.::Charlie Anderson: I seem to remember something about...
Charlie Anderson: I was talking to Henry.::Henry Anderson: Sir?::Charlie Anderson: Well, what do you think?::Henry Anderson: Well, no sir, I wouldn't.::Charlie Anderson: Why not?::Henry Anderson: I don't see any reason to fight for something I don't believe is right and I don't think a real friend would ask me to.
Charlie Anderson: Why we have this same conversation every Saturday before Sunday meeting, I'll never know, but I'm going to pray to the Almighty that this will be the end of it.
Charlie Anderson: Do you like her?::Lt. Sam: Well, I just said I...::Charlie Anderson: No, no. You just said you loved her. There's some difference between lovin' and likin'. When I married Jennie's mother, I-I didn't love her - I liked her... I liked her a lot. I liked Martha for at least three years after we were married and then one day it just dawned on me I loved her. I still do... still do. You see, Sam, when you love a woman without likin' her, the night can be long and cold, and contempt comes up with the sun.

Tatum may refer to:
For people named Tatum, see Tatum (surname).
Arthur "Art" Tatum, Jr. (October 13, 1909 – November 5, 1956) was an American jazz pianist and virtuoso who played with phenomenal facility despite being nearly blind since birth.
Tatum is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time and he was a major influence on later generations of jazz pianists. He was noted for the complexity and speed of his performances, which set a new standard for jazz piano virtuosity. Critic Scott Yanow wrote, "Tatum's quick reflexes and boundless imagination kept his improvisations filled with fresh (and sometimes futuristic) ideas that put him way ahead of his contemporaries ... Art Tatum's recordings still have the ability to scare modern pianists."
For a musician of such stature, there is very little published information available about Tatum's life. Only one full-length biography has been published, Too Marvelous for Words, by James Lester. Lester interviewed many of Tatum's contemporaries for the book and drew from many articles published about him.
Channing Matthew Tatum (born April 26, 1980) is an American actor, film producer, dancer, and former model, best known for his roles in Step Up (2006), G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), Dear John (2010), The Vow (2012), and 21 Jump Street (2012). He has also appeared in films such as Coach Carter (2005), She's the Man (2006), A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006), and Fighting (2009). While mostly known for his dramatic performances in Dear John and The Vow, he has since ventured into more comedic roles.
Tatum was born and raised in Cullman, Alabama. His mother, Kay (née Faust), is an airline worker, and his father, Glenn Tatum, worked in construction. His ancestry includes Irish, French and Native American. Tatum's family moved to Mississippi when he was six, and he grew up in the bayous near the Mississippi River, where he lived in a rural setting.
Tatum was athletic while growing up, playing football, soccer, track, baseball, and performing martial arts; he has said that "girls were always [his] biggest distraction in school." As a child, he practiced wuzuquan kung fu under the lineage of 10th dan Grandmaster Chee Kim Thong. Tatum spent most of his teenage years in the Tampa, Florida area and initially attended Gaither High School before going to Tampa Catholic High School. He graduated in 1998 and was voted most athletic. Afterward, Tatum attended Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virginia on a football scholarship, but dropped out. He returned home and started working odd jobs. US Weekly reported that around this time Tatum began working as a stripper at a local nightclub, under the name "Chan Crawford." In 2010, he told an Australian newspaper that he would like to make a movie about his experiences as a stripper. He later moved to Miami, where he was discovered on the street by a model talent scout.
Mark Alan Ruffalo (born November 22, 1967) is an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter. He starred in films such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Zodiac, Shutter Island, Just Like Heaven, Collateral, You Can Count on Me, The Avengers, and The Kids Are All Right, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Ruffalo was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. His mother, Marie Rose (née Hebert), is a hairdresser and stylist, and his father, Frank Lawrence Ruffalo, Jr., worked as a construction painter. His father and maternal grandmother were of Italian descent, and his maternal grandfather was of French Canadian ancestry. He has two sisters, Tania and Nicole, and a brother, Scott, who died in December 2008. Ruffalo has described himself as having been a "happy kid" and his upbringing as taking place in a "very big" family with "lots of love". Of his father, Ruffalo has said, "He was an amazing, charismatic guy who was city high school wrestling champion three times. He was away a lot when I was growing up. I was very lonely for him.” Ruffalo was raised Roman Catholic; he attended both a Catholic and a progressive school. Ruffalo spent his teen years in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where his father worked. He graduated from First Colonial High School, and then moved with his family to San Diego, and later to Los Angeles, California. There, he took classes at the Stella Adler Conservatory and co-founded the Orpheus Theatre Company. With the OTC, he wrote, directed, and starred in a number of plays, and spent the next nine years earning his money as a bartender.
Jonah Hill (born Jonah Hill Feldstein; December 20, 1983) is an American actor, producer, screenwriter, and comedian, best known for his roles in Superbad (2007), Knocked Up (2007), Funny People (2009), Get Him to the Greek (2010), Moneyball (2011), and 21 Jump Street (2012). He made his theatrical debut in I Heart Huckabees (2004), alongside Jason Schwartzman and Dustin Hoffman. He also co-created and starred in the animated comedy Allen Gregory on FOX. Hill was first nominated for a Teen Choice Award for his role in Accepted (2006) as Sherman Schrader, and for his role in Moneyball he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Hill was born in Los Angeles, California, the son of Sharon Lyn (née Chalkin), a costume designer and fashion stylist, and Richard Feldstein, a tour accountant for Guns N' Roses. Hill was raised Jewish. His parents were originally from Long Island, New York, and the family vacationed in the Catskills. He attended The Center for Early Education, Brentwood School and then Crossroads School, in Santa Monica. After graduating from high school, Hill left California to attend The New School, where he studied music and sport.

The delay's quite bad.
Yeah, sorry.
Where are you?
I can't really hear you?
I have a Taxi distracted.
Anyway, you were saying?
Wait, Uh huh.
Oh, they're waving me over.
Can I call you back?
Yeah, Everything's Fine.
Why..Am I .. I don't know why, I probably just need
sleep, it's been a busy week.
Sorry, I've got to go.
Sorry, Okay, bye..

Let's play musical chairs one of my favorite games
Especially now that you and I have traded place
You walk around in shoes that don't fit for a change
There is no way for you to win this race
Crisscross and turn your shirt inside out
You like to think I can't figure you out but the tables have turned
What goes around comes around, you're about to get burned
Flip the script, you're checking in, I'm checking you out
You're just too sweet till you get on my nerves and hurt like cavity
You left a bad taste in my mouth, my sour patch kid
You and me, it's no mystery, no magic trick
Let me hear this broken record again, just press repeat
I can be your new favorite waste of time and you'll be mine
All I want is your attention, it's all the same thing
Are you in? What's it gonna be?
Don't roll with the punches, make it hard for me baby
Drop you like a needle on the record, scratch my itch
Watch you walk in circles hit the beat
Drop you like a needle on the record, flip my switch
Rippin' my heart was so easy, so easy
Launch your assault now, take it easy
Raise your weapon, raise your weapon
One word and it's over
Rippin' through like a missile
Rippin' through my heart
Rob me of this love
Raise your weapon, raise your weapon and it's over
Love your ego, you won't feel a thing
Always number one
The pen with a bent wrist crooked king
Sign away our peace for your war, one word and it's over
Dropping your bombs now
On all we've built
How does it feel now to watch it burn, burn, burn?
Raise your weapons, raise your weapons and it's over
Rippin' through like a missile
Rippin' through my heart, rob me of this love
Raise your weapon, raise your weapon and it's over
How does it feel now to watch it burn, burn, burn?
Rippin' my heart was so easy, so easy
Launch your assault now, take it easy
Raise your weapon, raise your weapon
One word and it's over
Rippin' through like a missile
Rippin' through my heart
Rob me of this love
Raise your weapon, raise your weapon and it's over
Love your ego, you won't feel a thing
Always number one

Sign away our peace for your war, one word and it's over
Dropping your bombs now
On all we've built
How does it feel now to watch it burn, burn, burn?
I like the sound of the broken pieces
I like the lights that assign where she sits
We got machines but the kid's got Jesus
We like to move like we're off the name list
God can't hear you, they will fight you
Watch them build a friend just like you
Morning sickness, XYZ

All the broken things that I made
Just give me a life to bleed
Another world outside that's full of
All the awful things that I made
We like to dance but the dead go faster
Turn up the slam-pow barcode blaster
We want the cash or the junk you're after

Self-correction, mass dissection
That's why brats are in detention
Morning sickness, XYZ
Boys with bombs in NMA

Save me from the next life
Give me the sound to see
Another world outside that's full of
All the broken things that I made
Just give me a life to bleed
Another world outside that's full of
All the awful things that I made
Cause we are the last disease
Another broken life that's full of
All the awful things that I made
And we got the eyes to see
Another broken life that's full of
Pump the brakes, you're a red-flag, red light
Holdin' up for stop signs. I'll never be sloppy seconds
Go ahead, take them back, your one, two, three minutes
All you do is take, take, takin' off the little
Got More goin' on I'd rather be eating glass, stick hot needles in my eyes, go ahead and tap that ass
Draw them up, yeah like there's candy
Girl I ain't tryin'a connect or paint a picture
I'm not in it, never will be
You can't be me, get your freak on, you can suck it, they've all seen it
And you liked it, now who wants it?
Cotton candy sugar high
Break your bones when you come down
You're a one trick, my trick pony who's next to hop on
Ride, ride, ride...
Bout to bring a blood spill
We've both been there, what's the next stop? I won't sit still
Back to bring up what's real
I like soda x3
I am so thirsty,
Give me a drink bitch.
Now I’'m sitting here now's your chance.
I'm gonna stab your hand you had the chance to get me a
soda.
You dumb slut you little fuck what is your problem.
I am going to stab you in the throat,
Until I drink all of your soda.

It's been so long
I've been out of my body with you
I feel alone, feel at home
Feel like nothing is true
You take me to a place my senses gave way
Turn it round, shut it down
What the people say
Climbing up, coming down, gonna give you some
Take my hand and let it come, let it come, let it
Take it back when she knows that you're doing it right
'Cause everybody else knows what they're taking tonight
But I just wanna bring it round
We, we're gonna get there tonight
It's been so far
I've been walking the line on my own
Lift me up
To the stars we are coming home
I know we had a chase but we're out of time
We have sold in the cold, physical design
Set me free
Set me out on the run
Lift me up to the sun, to the sun, to the
When you're burning down (x2)
It's the way that you fake it
I know it's too late
But I just wanna bring it round
We, we're gonna get there tonight
I just want to take you down
We, we're gonna bring you round
But I just wanna play it right

Giddy up and go
We'll go so far as we please
Giddy up and gold mine
Different place, different time
All the stars are in their prime
Pastel trailer park, stars so bright to hide the dark
All is quiet in the yard
Giddy up and gold dust, all the cars turn to rust
You've got no means for wanderlust
Pastel trailer park, stars so bright to hide the dark
All is quiet in the yard
If you are so frequently in love
If you prefer it all to me then my love
You go down the longest road to nowhere
You pull it apart and you're just left there
Giddy up and gold mine, horse dust down time
Its my life, its my time, we've been gettin' nowhere
Gold mine, different place, different time
Hold me down, Hold me down
Hope will be found, Follow me
If you are so frequently in love
If you prefer it all to me then my love
You go down the longest road to nowhere
You pull it apart and your just left there
They're waiting for it, you're waiting for it
And you're waving in it, and you're craving in it
If you fill my cup with all you must
To speak from something
If you are so frequently in love
If you prefer it all to me then my love
You go down the longest road to nowhere
You pull it apart and your just left there
You go down the longest road to nowhere

Turn it round, shut it down, what the people say
Climbing up, coming down, gonna make a call
Take my hand and leave it all, leave it all, leave it all
And then these arts torn apart when they turned black and
blue
'Cause everybody knows I've been waiting for you

Back To You
What If I Said
w/ Wariner Steve
We've been friends for a long, long time
You tell me your secrets, and I tell you mine
She's left you all alone, and you feel like no one cares
But I have never failed you, and I've always been there.
You tell your story, it sounds a bit like mine
It's the same old situation, it happens every time
Can't we see, oh maybe you and me is what's meant to be
Or do we disagree.
Chorus:
What if I told you, what if I said that I love you
How would you feel, what would you think, what would we do
Do we dare to cross that line, between your heart and mine
Or would I loose a friend, or find a love that would never end
What if I said.
She doesn't love you, oh it's plain to see
I can read between the lines of what you're telling me.
He doesn't hold you they way a woman should be held
How long can I go on keeping these feelings to myself.
Repeat Chorus
Bridge:
Oh, we've both had our share of loneliness
So who's to say that we can't have a little happiness.
And if I found that in you
It would make my dreams come true
Or would you walk away
Hear what I have to say.
So what if I told you, what if I said that I love you
How would you feel, what would you think, what would we do.
Oh, do we dare to cross that line between your heart and mine
Oh, I've always wondered, from the day that we met
Did you get your satisfaction?
Satisfaction
Did you get your satisfaction?
Satisfaction
Did you get your satisfaction?
Satisfaction
Satisfaction
Satisfaction
Satisfaction
Satisfaction
Satisfaction
Did you get your satisfaction?
Satisfaction
Did you get your satisfaction?
Satisfaction
Did you get your satisfaction?
Did you get your satisfaction?
We've been talking about 'cool' and its ramifications, and how it applies to the hip scene. But maybe you could give us some examples now, of the opposite of cool - 'uncool', just exactly what is 'uncool'?
Yeah we have some thoughts on that.
It-it-its uncool to nod on the street corner waiting for the light to change.
And uh it uh... It-its uncool to let anybody know your uncle is a registered pharmacist, uncool for the whole family.
You know, it's uncool to buddy with a known fink.
And it's uncool to ask "Where d'you get it?"
It's disastrously uncool to let friends use your penthouse or the porch to deliver the packages from Mexico.
You know and it's uncool to ask "Where d'you get it?"
You're weak and you're gullible,
and I don't care.
You're a walking disaster,
and I don't care.
You cry yourself to sleep,
and I don't care.
You're wasting our time,
and I don't care.
You knew this day would come, and it did,
and you really should have waited.
Go cry yourself to sleep, and you should,
because I'm so faded.
You knew this day would come, and it did,
and you really should have waited.
Go cry yourself to sleep, and you should,
because I'm so faded.
You contradict everything,
and I don't care.
Your logic is twisted,
and I don't care.
I'll pretend to be happy,
and I don't care.
You cry yourself to sleep,
and I don't care.
You're weak and you're gullible,
and I don't care.
You're a walking disaster,
and I don't care.
You knew this day would come, and it did,
and you really should have waited.
Go cry yourself to sleep, and you should,
because I'm so faded.
You knew this day would come, and it did,
and you really should have waited.
Go cry yourself to sleep, and you should,
Burn like a furnace, keep it hot like a thermos
It's the realest at your service, now I'm on a higher purpose
And you haters don't deserve us, but we give it to you like a virus
We are the highest motherfuckers, ruling from the hills of Cypress
Mister magnificent, you're insignificant
See what is in my weed sack, bitch try sniffing it
Sendin I hittin it, smells so aromatic
Smoking out the room, sorry homie it's a fuckin habit
Mad dough comfortably shadowed the fuckin sun
Run up on me, and watch a nigga, give you some
I'm swinging for the fence, blasting up home runs
Go with a knife, cut your ass, like a show gun
A little somethin for the peasant, yankin on my chain
You the reason niggas sing about the membrane
Running round like a clown, actin hell strange
On the real the world forgot about your punk name
We are the hill, we came to get you high
They're calling me insane, why? You must wanna die
So high so high so high
Shittin on you bitches, like a bird, when he's flying by
We are the hill, we came to get you high
They're calling me insane, why? You must wanna die
So high so high so high
See my mind's at the pinnacle, stress levels are minimal
You see a criminal, labeled defined unwinable
You're so cynical, smoke like is fuckin legal
Either way the people represent if nothin equal
Yeah, spark it up. Date, time, walk it off
You got a problem? I'm a Rolling Stone startin up
You stop me on a promise, you will never stop
Last thing you hear is the blast, when the hammer drops
When you with a sick click, we uncheckable
Cypress Hill misfits bring it through the vegetables
Bringin a cloud of smoke, representable
The highest man to toke, and his general
The nature stands with us, ready for war
We done talking two digits and we still want more
I could call you up by name, but what the fuck for?
You under my sneaker that I stomp on the floor
We are the hill, we came to get you high
They're calling me insane, why? You must wanna die
So high so high so high
Shittin on you bitches, like a bird, when he's flying by
We are the hill, we came to get you high
They're calling me insane, why? You must wanna die

Announcer: Wow, beautiful. We're gonna go to our very first caller, we're going to Judy, line four, Oshawa, you're on the air. Hello Judy.
Asking the question, Judy, how has rejection affected your life?
Judy: This group of people, they rejected me. Like... like, they... they rejected me, one person in particular, but I don't wanna say his name.
Announcer: No.
Judy: 'cause... 'cause I... I've forgiven and forgotten about it.
I took a dive in Oshawa.
I took a dive in Oshawa.
I took a dive in Oshawa.
I took a dive in Oshawa.
We are nowhere.
Sleepless and still and tight.
Maybe we shouldn't fall asleep,
saving what was left behind.
Standing outside the chalk outline,
beside ourselves in time.
The only thing I want is the last thing I need.
Awake and sleepless as stars shine.
In the end, we are nowhere.
Sleepless and still and tight.
Maybe we shouldn't fall asleep,
saving what was left behind.
Standing outside the chalk outline,
beside ourselves in time.
The only thing I want is the last thing I need.
Feeling the past moving in
Letting a new day begin
Hold to the time that you know
You don't have to move on to let go
Add to the memory you keep
Remember when you fall asleep
Hold to the love that you know
You don't have to give up to let go
Remember turning on the night
And moving through the morning light
Remember how it was with you
Remember how you pulled me through
I remember, I remember
I remember, I remember
I remember, I remember
I remember, I remember
Feeling the past moving in
Letting a new day begin
Hold to the time that you know
You don't have to move on to let go
Add to the memory you keep
Remember when you fall asleep
Hold to the love that you know
You don't have to give up to let go
Remember how it was with you
Remember how it was with you
