Mandatory Fun debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 200 album chart. It's the first time that Al has ever had a #1 album - in fact, it's the first time a comedy album has topped the Billboard chart in over 50 years (and the first time a comedy album has debuted at #1 in HISTORY!) Al performed live with Andy Samberg at the 2014 Emmy Awards, doing a medley of TV themes that were badly in need of lyrics. Watch it here!
Recently Al performed "The Ballad of Homer and Marge" for three consecutive nights at the Hollywood Bowl as part of a 25th anniversary celebration called "The Simpsons Take the Bowl," which featured Simpsons cast members as well as Jon Lovitz, Hans Zimmer, Beverly D'Angelo and Conan O'Brien!
"Word Crimes" debuted at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning Al another distinction. Only 3 artists have had singles that charted in the Top 40 in each of the last 4 decades: Michael Jackson, Madonna, and now "Weird Al" Yankovic.
In November, Shout! Factory will be releasing UHF on Blu-ray (finally!!) as well as the long out-of-print mockumentary The Compleat Al.
Recently Al has been all over the media on shows like Conan, Larry King Now, ABC World News, Tom Green Live, Varney & Co., Hotwives of Orlando, Kid President and Garfunkel & Oates. Look for him to start popping up soon on other shows like Comedy Bang! Bang! (IFC), Children’s Hospital (Adult Swim), The Impression Guys (YouTube) and Galavant (ABC). And listen for his voice-over work on upcoming episodes of Wallykazam!, Gravity Falls, Uncle Grandpa and Wander Over Yonder.
