Plot
A unique film that tries to evoke more abstract emotions to get the audience to connect with characters rather than using reason and understanding. It is a film about a group of friends that go to a party and try to have fun in their own ways. Finding out what truly matters.
Plot
The police suspects Hubert Verkamen of having murdered a whole family. Verkamen keeps claiming he is only an honest tradesman but the cops know very well that he is a dangerous drug trafficker. Plot
Screenwriter Dixon Steele, faced with the odious task of scripting a trashy bestseller, has hat-check girl Mildred Atkinson tell him the story in her own words. Later that night, Mildred is murdered and Steele is a prime suspect; his record of belligerence when angry and his macabre sense of humor tell against him. Fortunately, lovely neighbor Laurel Gray gives him an alibi. Laurel proves to be just what Steele needed, and their friendship ripens into love. Will suspicion, doubt, and Steele's inner demons come between them?

THE BOGART SUSPENSE PICTURE WITH THE SURPRISE FINISH - (original poster)
Dixon Steele: Oh, I love a picnic. Acres and acres of sand and all of it in your food.::Laurel Gray: Stop griping. Just lie still and inhale.::Dixon Steele: What, sand?::Laurel Gray: No, air - and don't let it go to your head.
Laurel Gray: [to Capt. Lochner] Yesterday, this would've meant so much to us. Now it doesn't matter... it doesn't matter at all.
Mildred Atkinson: Before I started to go to work at Paul's, I used to think that actors made up their own lines.::Dixon Steele: When they get to be big stars, they usually do.
Sylvia Nicolai: Well, he's exciting because he isn't quite normal.::Brub Nicolai: Maybe us cops could use some of that brand of abnormality. I learned more about this case in five minutes from him than I did from all of our photographs, tire prints and investigations.
Dixon Steele: Nobody can call me the things he did.::Laurel Gray: A blind, knuckle-headed squirrel. That's REAL bad.
Dixon Steele: There's no sacrifice too great for a chance at immortality.::Waiter: [rolls his eyes] Yes sir.
Dixon Steele: I was born when she kissed me. I died when she left me. I lived a few weeks while she loved me.
[last lines]::Laurel Gray: [tearfully] I lived a few weeks while you loved me. Goodbye, Dix.
Frances Randolph: Remember how I used to read to you?::Dixon Steele: Uh huh. Since then, I've learned to read by myself.
Dixon Steele: Go ahead and get some sleep and we'll have dinner together tonight.::Laurel Gray: We'll have dinner tonight. But not together.

A person is a being, such as a human, that has certain capacities or attributes constituting personhood, the precise definition of which is the subject of much controversy.[vague language] The common plural of "person", "people", is often used to refer to an entire nation or ethnic group (as in "a people"), so the plural "persons" is often used in contexts which require precision such as philosophical and legal writing.
In ancient Rome, the word "persona" (Latin) or "prosopon" (πρόσωπον: Greek) originally referred to the masks worn by actors on stage. The various masks represented the various "personae" in the stage play, while the masks themselves helped the actor's voice resonate and made it easier for the audience to hear.
In Roman law, the word "persona" became used to refer to a role played in court, and it became established that it was the role rather than the actor that could have rights, powers, and duties, because different individuals could assume the same roles, the rights, powers, and duties followed the role rather than the actor, and each individual could act in more than one role, each a different "person" in law.[tortured english][citation needed]

Good sons, who needs them
We'll never run the show
Just can't fake
We just can't fake it, no
But what, what about all of our/the (dough?)
Maybe someday
Maybe someday, I don't know
Someday we'll make it
I wont forget I wrote this song?
You must be crazy
You must be crazy, goin back home
Good sons, who needs them
We'll never run the show
Just can't fake
We just can't fake it, no
Go back home, go back home
Maybe someday
Maybe someday
I'll take the blue of spring
For your eyes now
'Cause you, you could use
A brand new lie
And all your poems and words
They have left you now
So I'll paint for you
Something blue
So now, you should come
Come back to us
It's a waste, that you keep away
And now, you should come
With your lovely face
That you keep, locked away
Stones fill your mouth
On days like today
And you, have no words
On days like today
But all your favorite shops
In china town
They are calling you
Saying 'my pretty one'
So now you should come
Come back to us
It's a waste that you keep away
And now, you should come
With your lovely face
That you keep, locked away
It's leaving time
Wake up,
Just a little breakdown
Start off the day,
Just a little wrong.
Who should I call when I don't know why I'm calling?
And how should I be if they come running?
Maybe what I need is go out shopping
Or maybe what I need is just more drugs.
Or just more drugs.
Ok, just a little a depraved(?)
There'll be no more
No more us(?)
Who should I call when I don't know why I'm calling?
And how should I be if they come running?
Maybe what I need is go out shopping
Or maybe what I need is just more drugs.
Or just more drugs.
Or just more drugs.
I am placed in between
A day that sings and sings
And my own wrong streets
Rain all this week
The need the need to speak
To make something new
Waves in the sands of your castle
The cruel hands
Of the sea
Ask me now what I know
I wouldn't say no
Ask me for my deeds
I will be clear
Ask me now if I come to
Love the ways
Of this cruel sea
I am taking on this coming rain
And what I have is the same as you
Waves in the sands of your castle
The cruel hands
Of the sea
Ask me now what I know
I wouldn't say no
Ask me for deeds
I will be clear
Ask me now if I've come to
Love the ways
All the broken plans
That you are holding in your hands
You are so much older now
You are so much older now
Are you building a house to hold
A nowhere man
Are you building a house
With these broken plans
In your slow moving way
There's no trace of belief
But in your own broken way
You're holy in your grief
You had so much more to say
You had so much more to say
But maybe another a day
Is all now you have to say
Are you building a house to hold
A nowhere man
Are you building a house
With these broken plans
In your slow moving way
There's no trace of belief
But in your own broken way
Autumn and moon
When will you come?
To take me
Far away from me
Autumn and moon
All night long
All these lovers are
Out in the streets
It's the autumn call
In me now
It's the same song
Always the same song
Always the same song
And you find yourself
Waiting by a window
With all this music
In your arms
Autumn and moon
I sleep all day long
And at night I go
Walking the streets
Autumn and moon
All night long
All these lovers are
Out In the streets
It's the autumn call
In me now
It's the same song
Always the same song
Always the same song
And you find yourself
Waiting by a window
With all this music
A boy with his heart
Barzin
A table's turn
The light's alone
The road reach is far
An this is hope
A boy with his heart
He carries no name
He hasn't solved the backroads's turn
His mother's gone
The boy with his heart
Walk with him now
Watch him go
The backroads are high
The river's slow
The boy with his heart
There is no love
The ground is cold
Wait for him there
Have been told
Words tangled in blue
and I thought
about you
Words tangled in blue
what a mess
all because of you
Words tangled in blue
I wrote them down
but I didn't send them to you
Words tangled in blue
it's always you
it's always you
Who should I call?
who should I call?
who should I call?
Words tangled in blue
come away boy
nothing calls you
Words tangled in blue
everyone has left
except you
Who should I call?
who should I call?
who should I call?
I drove to your mother's house
'cause that's where you were
oh the crazy things
we do for love
one day you look back
you'll say
'I did that for someone'
Rain came pouring down
so I stopped at a bar
I was buying time
going over lines
thinking of all the things
I would say to you
when I arrived
I don't know why
I drove so far
I should have stayed
where I belonged
I guess I wanted
to see for myself
what love looks like
when it falls apart
When I saw you sitting there
at your mother's house
I swear you looked so hard
I never thought
I would see the day
when my pretty girl
would turn so hard
That's when I walked awa
y never looking back
I said goodbye to that love
she was the best thing
I ever had
and now it's done
I don't know why
I drove so far
I should have stayed
where I belonged
I guess I wanted
to see for myself
what love looks like
Desperate in my sleep
like I had lost something
when I awoke I found
it was just a dream
Dusk was coming down
the house made no sound
funny how a dream
it can make you weak
So I became the king
the king of all things weak
and I wrote this song
about all I need
Will I have a house?
Will I be a star?
what will people think
if I didn't make it far?
Funny how a dream
it can make you weak
just a simple dream
it can make you weak
Come back home Suzanne
'cause it's getting bleak
your boy has become
the king of all things weak
Come back home Suzanne
come and make it okay
It was a simple dream I know
but it won't go away
it was a simple dream I know
but I won't go away
Funny how a dream
it can make you weak
just a simple dream
Oh I need this lie
just like the ones
that have kept me safe
Will you come to me now
Spring is so soft
and I wish you would stay
There is so much that I like
I like to forget
and leave behind
You get so tired
staying with the dead
night after night
So won't you come
to me now
let us forget
you and I
we have
stayed too long in this place
It's the season now
of too much rain
and not much to say
It's the cruelest month
where everything calls
and wants you to stay
I'm always in love
some days in despair
it's all the same
So come gypsy girl
bring me that lie
that will make it okay
So won't you come
to me now
let us forget
you and I
we have
stayed too long in this place
So won't you come
to me now
let us forget
you and I
we have
I stole all her letters
I stole all those poems
they belong to a girl
I used to know
There's still music
on Queen Street
where all the young girls go
I would rather be down there
than to read these notes
I praise all these soft
summer girls
they take me away
from the one I used to know
By the light of the kitchen
I've been reading your notes
I didn't notice
I had forgotten
the sound of your voice
Are you still the same girl
I used to know?
do you still wake up early
to write your poems?
I praise all these soft
summer girls
they take me away
from the one I used to know
I praise all these soft
summer girls
all that's left now
Traveling through the wrong side of the week
I tried to find a place that was somewhere in between
But I wasted time in a room with all my needs
And craved like a beast who is after things
So much here to call my own
But so much more claim me as their own
I think you were right, we are the weak ones
We’re always here waiting for someone
Trying to write it down before it‘s gone,
Inside a book, though it comes out wrong.
So much here to call my own
Inside a house
with a broken guitar
I waited for a song
but nothing would come
So I drank all I had
I wrote down some words
but I was wasting my time
'cause nothing would come
Won't you come
my Queen Jane
won't you come
my Queen Jane
won't you come
my Queen Jane
bring me a song
I circled the town
just like a thief
but there was no one to love
I found no one to love
Won't you come
my Queen Jane
won't you come
my Queen Jane
won't you come
my Queen Jane
and bring me a song
Won't you be
my Queen Jane
won't you be
my Queen Jane
won't you come
my Queen Jane
Over your face
Your pretty hair
That's how you came
That's how you came
I saw you there
Past all concerns
And I asked for you
I asked for you
I followed you
To your room
You took your
Clothes off
I kissed your arms
I saw your scar
You who never
Liked your life
I named you my
Black queen
You who has seen
Past all concerns
I asked for you
But you were past
Past all
All concerns
Your beauty is lost
All to yourself
But something
Still crowds
My mind
It must be your
Overcast face
It must be your
Overcast face
I named you my
Black queen
You who has seen
Past all concerns
I asked for you
But you were past
Past all
All concerns
Past all
Pale blue eyes
In search of flight
You do not know
How hard you will fall
How hard you will fall
Give one kiss
For these empty lips
Before you go
To your brokeness
To your brokeness
I have seen
All you're hiding
All that you've seen
All that you've seen
All that you've seen
Your cracked sky
It lets in rain
And all I've gained
Are craving palms
Are craving palms
Eyes can't see
Where you're at
It makes me sad
To know you are far
It makes me sad
To know you are far
To know you are far
I have seen
All you're hiding
All that you've seen
All that you've seen
A broken house
To call my own
And no one
To cast
A safe sky
Over my blue
A broken faith
To call my own
And no one
To cast
A safe sky
I awoke
in a stranger's house
I did not feel
like myself
I had come
to forget
a pretty girl
with auburn hair
There's no god in my blood
Yet she still remains
Nobody told me
forgetting could be so hard
Nobody told me
forgetting could be so hard
Nobody told me
forgetting could be so hard
So I drove
drove around
the city lights
they made me drunk
But then
longing came
and took me back
back to her
Sometimes I wonder
how long before she's gone
Nobody told me
forgetting could be so hard
Nobody told me
forgetting could be so hard
Nobody told me
forgetting could be so hard
Nobody told me
My life in rooms
And your life in books
Somewhere between
That's where we meet
Everything's like a photograph
We're hanging on the walls
Picture frames and postcards
We're in love
With everything
That is lost
You and I know
That there is no God
So we clean the house
We go out for drives
So you go now to your books
And I go to my rooms
And everything is so soft
When we are hiding out
In these rooms
Everything's like a photograph
We're hanging on the walls
Picture frames and postcards
We're in love
With everything that's lost
You go now to your books
And I go to my rooms
And everything is so soft
When we are hiding out
Evening comes
Comes through my window
Stays all night
On my tongue
And I like the way
These autumn evenings
Wrap so slowly
Around my thoughts
Maybe now
A perfect face
Will come to me
I'll bring it back
For you to see
For now I have
This empty room
This gypsy moon
And my morning doubts
For you to see
This being here
Without a word
Waiting for something
To sing in me
And the beauty of night
Too young to understand
Still too young
To understand
Maybe now
A perfect face
Will come to me
I'll bring it back
For you to see
For now I have
This empty room
This gypsy moon
And my morning doubts
For you to see
Morning doubts
For you to see
Morning doubts
I was lost
inside a song
and you were lost inside
your heart
But you were soft
softer than love
only you could love
this bastard heart
only you could love
this bastard heart
Did I lose myself in you?
or did you find yourself in me?
I wonder how
the story will be?
All I know
is that your absence
fills everything
you're the reason why
I sing
you're the reason why
We're strangers
and we're ugly
'cause we've lost so very much
Slip your tongue now
slip your beauty
inside this very heart
When everyone is sleeping
I'll come and see you girl
I'll bring you flowers
for your lonely world
Lovers are strangers
and we are too
look what love has
turned us into
So much older
so much older
what happened
I thought we were divine
But all we're left with
are these bodies
that are now
entwined
Summer is almost wasted
and so we are too
I know I am just a station
that you are a passing through
Lovers are strangers
and we are too
look what love has
turned us into
Lovers are strangers
and we are too
look what love has
Here is the one
I think I'll follow
Here is my life
My life in rooms
Taking notes for myself
Of all the things to not become
So let's go from now
Someplace far
Let's go driving today
Away
You gets so tired
Of yourself
Taking these notes
Inside some books
See how it comes
Slowly undone
On days like these
We're not so young
So let's go and buy
Something new
Let's go driving
Away
Dan veličasten nad gorami modrina
Visoko na nebu orel se pne
Spokojno počiva pod njim vsa širjava
Mogočni gozdovi klanjajo se
Ostro oko nad kraljestvom opreza
Nad jaso pa nekaj mir mu skali
Jezdec v diru po poti se spušča
Ranjen iz boja proti domu hiti
V bitki obležali so bratje njegovi
Le on se je rešil da dom posvari
V noči premagal je širne gozdove
Opešan v močeh tam ob stezi leži
Spoken
"Daj ponesi ta klic, do mojih ljudi
Reši naš rod" zdaj ptici veli
Žarki prodrejo skozi vejevje
Orel se vrne zopet nad kraj
Deklica majhna tam zvončke nabira
Tisoč v nebo je junakov klicalo
Preden poslednjič zaprli so oči
V krvi in mukah roteče kričalo
Morani naj pride da smrt jim stori
Prosila dekleta so mladih vojščakov
Da prizaneseš nedolžnim možem
Oni pa v bitkah klicali z očakov
Nad horde sovraga so tvoje ime
Ko veter zapiha in gozd se stemni
Se s strmih bregov v doline spusti
V megli in snegu sestopa z vrhov
Veter prinaša mi glasove
Zvok neznanih melodij
Glas me prednikov pozove
Daj prisluhni jim še ti
Zemlja vse zgodbe pozna
Skriva usodo ...
Voda izpira vse spomine
Jih ohranja v večnosti
In je izvir ki ne usahne
Kakor vez s prijatelji
Moč je ognja - ljubezen
V temi nas vodi ...
Zdaj z odprtimi očmi
Vidim tisto česar ni
In sanjarim
In živim
Da svojim sanjam sledim
S prvim dihom nam je dano
Da smo del te tisočletne poti
V podzavest je vsem poslana
Želja da vsak nekaj naredi
S tem gradimo srečo v sebi
Dan veličasten nad gorami modrina
Visoko na nebu orel se pne
Spokojno počiva pod njim vsa širjava
Mogočni gozdovi klanjajo se
Ostro oko nad kraljestvom opreza
Nad jaso pa nekaj mir mu skali
