The Coke Zero 400 powered by Coca-Cola at Daytona is an annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race at Daytona International Speedway. First held in 1959, the event consists of 160 laps, 400 miles (640 km), and is the second major stock car event held at Daytona on the Sprint Cup circuit, with the other being the Daytona 500. Since 1988, the race has been held on the first Saturday of July, close to the United States' Independence Day. In 1998, it became the first restrictor plate and Daytona race to be held at night.
A ten year contract, starting in 2008 between Atlanta-based Coca-Cola and International Speedway Corporation (ISC), made Coke the official soft drink, official sparkling beverage and official water for ten of ISC's operated motorsports facilities and the Daytona 500. The company replaced Pepsi-Cola, a 19 year race sponsorship, to showcase Coke Zero as the race's title brand through 2018.
The event is recently known for its close finishes, posting a (.154 ds) margin of victory in its last 21 races including the T-4th closest margin of victory in Sprint Cup history at (.005 ms); high speed high-density crashes under the lights, and a broad display of fireworks during post-race celebrations.
Coca-Cola Zero or Coke Zero is a product of the Coca-Cola Company. It is a low-calorie (0.75 calories per liter) variation of Coca-Cola specifically marketed to males, who were shown to associate 'diet' drinks with women.
The Coca-Cola Zero logo has generally featured the script Coca-Cola logo in red with white trim on a black background, with the word "zero" underneath in lower case in the geometric typeface Avenir (or a customized version of it). Some details have varied from country to country. The British logo, for example, originally had the "o" taking a spiral form. In the U.S., the letters decline in weight over the course of the word.
All versions of Coke Zero sold in various countries are based on the same flavoring formula, and all are carbonated and caffeinated (excepting caffeine free). 1 l of Coke Zero contains 100 mg caffeine. However, the exact combination of artificial sweeteners and preservatives used vary from market to market.
Sodium cyclamate, a relatively inexpensive artificial sweetener banned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 1969 and once believed to be a carcinogen, has been used in the Coca-Cola Zero versions produced in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Venezuela, Chile, and some Central American countries. It was used for a time in Mexico, before a consumer campaign led to its removal from the drink in 2008. In June 2009 Venezuela ordered Coca-Cola to withdraw its Coca-Cola Zero product, as it contained more than the legal levels of sodium cyclamate.
Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (born October 10, 1974), better known simply as Dale Earnhardt, Jr., is a professional American race car driver and team owner who drives the No. 88 Diet Mountain Dew/United States National Guard/7-Eleven Chevrolet Impala in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for Hendrick Motorsports, and drives the No. 5 Chevrolet Impala for his own team, JR Motorsports, in selected events in the Nationwide Series. He is the son of NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and the grandson of both NASCAR driver Ralph Earnhardt and Robert Gee, the well known stock car fabricator. Earnhardt, Jr. is also the half-brother of former driver Kerry Earnhardt, the uncle of driver Jeffrey Earnhardt, and the stepson of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team co-owner Teresa Earnhardt. Earnhardt, Jr. has won the Most Popular Driver Award nine times. He has an estimated net worth of $300 million.
He was raised in Kannapolis, North Carolina, Dale Jr. is the son of Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Brenda Lorraine (née Gee; born January 2, 1952). His maternal grandfather, Robert Gee, Sr., was a NASCAR car builder. Dale Earnhardt Jr. attended college and earned a 2 year automotive degree in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Sr. (April 29, 1951 – February 18, 2001) was an American race car driver, best known for his involvement in stock car racing for NASCAR. Born to race car driver Ralph Lee Earnhardt, Earnhardt began his career in 1975 when he drove in the 1975 World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway as part of the Winston Cup Series (later the Sprint Cup Series).
During the course of his career, Earnhardt won a total of 76 races (including one Daytona 500 victory in 1998). He earned seven championships, which is tied for the most all time with Richard Petty. His aggressive driving style earned him the nickname "The Intimidator".
While driving in the 2001 Daytona 500, Earnhardt died of basilar skull fracture in a last-lap crash at Daytona International Speedway on February 18, 2001. He has been inducted into numerous halls of fame, including the inaugural class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Earnhardt was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, on April 29, 1951, to Martha Coleman and Ralph Lee Earnhardt, who was then one of the best short-track drivers in North Carolina. Ralph won his one and only NASCAR Sportsman Championship in 1956 at Greenville Pickens Speedway in Greenville, South Carolina. Although Ralph did not want his son to follow in his footsteps, Earnhardt would not be persuaded to give up his dream of racing, dropping out of school to race. Ralph was a hard teacher for Earnhardt, and after Ralph died of a heart attack at his home in 1973, it took many years before Earnhardt felt as though he had finally "proven" himself to his father. Earnhardt had four siblings, Danny, Randy, Cathy, and Kaye.
Kyle Thomas Busch (born May 2, 1985) is an American NASCAR driver and team owner. He currently drives the No. 18 Mars, Inc./Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Sprint Cup Series and owns Kyle Busch Motorsports, which runs the #54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry for Kyle and his brother Kurt in the Nationwide Series and the #18 Dollar General Toyota Tundra for Jason Leffler in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
He currently holds the modern-era record for most race wins in a season across the top three NASCAR series with twenty-four wins, which he accomplished in 2010. On August 21, 2010, Busch became the first driver to win in all three of NASCAR's top three touring series in the same weekend (Bristol). Busch became the first driver in Nationwide series history to lead more than 10,000 laps. Busch also holds the record for the most NASCAR Nationwide Series wins with 51, surpassing Mark Martin's 49.
Busch is also only the second driver to ever win on his birthday, winning the 2009 Crown Royal Presents the Russell Friedman 400 at Richmond International Raceway, which was run on his 24th birthday. Cale Yarborough was the first.
The Old Lamplighter
Kay Kyser
He made the night a little brighter, wherever he would go;
The old lamplighter of long, long ago.
His snowy hair was so much whiter beneath the lantern glow,
The old lamplighter of long, long ago.
If there were sweethearts in the park, he'd pass a light and leave it
dark, His smile would hide a broken heart, you see. For he recalls when
days were new, he loved someone who loved him too, Who walks along with
him in memory.
He made the night a little brighter, wherever he would go,
The old lamplighter of long, long ago.
WOODY WOODPECKER
Kay Kyser
- words and music by George Tibbles and Ramey Idries
- introduced in the cartoon film "Wet Blanket Policy" and
nominated for an Academy Award
- lyrics as recorded by The Kay Kyser Orchestra
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
Oh, that's the Woody Woodpecker song
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
Yeah, he's a-peckin' it all day long
He pecks a few holes in a tree to see
If a redwood's really red
And it's nothing to him, on the tiniest whim
To peck a few holes in your head
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
Oh, that's the Woody Woodpecker's tune
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
Makes the other woodpeckers swoon
Though it doesn't make sense to the dull and the dense
And the lady woodpeckers long for
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
That's the Woody Woodpecker song
------ instrumental interlude ------
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
Woody Woodpecker's serenade
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
On the woodpecker hit parade
Though he can't sing a note, there's a frog in his throat
All his top notes come out blurred
He's the ladies' first choice, with a laugh in his voice
He gives all his rivals the bird
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
He'll be settlin' down some day
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
He'll be hearin' the preacher say
For the rest of your life you'll be Woody and wife
And the choir will sing along with
Ho-ho-ho ho ho! Ho-ho-ho ho ho!
Three Little Fishies (Itty Bitty Poo)
Kay Kyser (#1 in 1939)
- words and music by Saxie Dowell
Down in the meadow in a little bitty pool
Swam three little fishies and a mama fishie too
"Swim" said the mama fishie, "Swim if you can"
And they swam and they swam all over the dam
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
And they swam and they swam all over the dam
"Stop" said the mama fishie, "or you will get lost"
The three little fishies didn't wanna be bossed
The three little fishies went off on a spree
And they swam and they swam right out to the sea
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
And they swam and they swam right out to the sea
"Whee!" yelled the little fishies, "Here's a lot of fun
We'll swim in the sea till the day is done"
They swam and they swam, and it was a lark
Till all of a sudden they saw a shark!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Till all of a sudden they saw a shark!
"Help!" cried the little fishies, "Gee! look at all the whales!"
And quick as they could, they turned on their tails
And back to the pool in the meadow they swam
And they swam and they swam back over the dam
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!

The Umbrella Man
Kay Kyser
Toodle - luma luma
Toodle - luma luma
Toodle - oh lay
Any umbrellas, any umbrellas
To mend today?
Bring your parasol, it may be small. It may be big
He will fix them all on what you call a thing-a-ma-jig
Pitter patter patter! Pitter patter patter!
It looks like rain.
Let it pitter patter. Let it pitter patter.
Who cares for rain?
He'll mend your umbrellas, then go on his way
Singing toodle luma luma. Toodle luma luma.
Any umbrellas to mend today.
When there's a lull
And things are dull
He'll sharpen knives for all the wives
In the neighborhood
And he's very good.
He'll darn a sock
Or fix a clock
An apple cart
A broken heart --
He'll mend anything but he'd much rather sing -
Toodle - luma luma
Toodle - luma luma
Toodle-oh-lay
Any umbrellas - any umbrellas
To mend today?
He'll mend your umbrella
Then go on his way singing
Toodle luma luma
Toodle luma luma
THE LITTLE RED FOX
Kay Kyser
N'ya, n'ya, n'ya said the little fox
N'ya, n'ya, ya can't catch me
N'ya, n'ya, n'ya, said the little fox
Singing merrily.
The little fox ran through the woods
Chased by a barking dog,
By leaps and bounds he lost the hounds
And he ran in a hollow log.
N'ya, n'ya, n'ya, said the little fox
N'ya, n'ya, ya can't catch me
N'ya, n'ya, n'ya, said the little fox
Singing merrily
A foxy fox was he. Ho!
You can't catch me today
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we'll all stay free
Praise the Lord and swing into position
Can't afford to be a politician
Praise the Lord, we're all between perdition
And the deep blue sea
Yes, the sky pilot said it, you gotta give him credit
For a son of a gun of a gunner was he
Shouting, 'Praise the Lord, we're on a mighty mission
All aboard, we ain't a-goin' fishin'
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
And we'll all stay free'
Praise the Lord
(Praise the Lord)
And pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord
(Praise the Lord)
And pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord
(Praise the Lord)
And pass the ammunition
And we'll all stay free
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition
There is no verse to this song,
'Cause I don't wanna wait a moment too long
To say that...
I'd love to get you on a Slow Boat to China
All to myself alone.
Get you and keep you in my arms evermore,
Leave all your lovers
Weeping on a far away shore.
Out on the briney
With the moon big and shiney
Melting your heart of stone
I'd love to get you on a Slow Boat to China
All to myself alone.
I'd love to get you on a Slow Boat to China
All to myself alone.
A twist in the rudder
And a rip in the sail
Drifting and dreaming
Throw the compass over the rail.
Out on the ocean
Far from all the commotion
Melting your heart of stone
I'd love to get you on a Slow Boat to China
All to myself (with nobody else)
OLE BUTTERMILK SKY
Kay Kyser
- words and music by Hoagy Carmichael
- introduced by Hoagy Carmichael in the film "Canyon Passage"
(and nominated for an Academy Award)
- lyrics as recorded by The Kay Kyser Orchestra
(do do-do-do, do do-do do)
(do do-do-do, do)
Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
I'm keepin' my eye peeled on you
What's the good word tonight?
Are you gonna be mellow tonight?
Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
Can't you see my little doggie and me
We're as happy as a christmas tree
Headin' for the one I love (the one I love)
I'm gonna pop her the question, that question
Do you Darlin', do ya do?
It'll be easy, so easy
If I can only bank on you
Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
I'm tellin' you why, now you know
Keep it in mind tonight
Keep brushin' those clouds from sight
Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
Don't fail me when I'm needin' you most
Hang a moon above her hitching post
Hitch me to the one I love
(buttermilk sky)
------ orchestral interlude ------
(gonna pop her the question, the question
Darlin', do you do?
It'll be easy, so easy)
If I can only bank on you
Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)

Keep brushin' those clouds from sight
Ole buttermilk sky (ole buttermilk sky)
Don't fail me when I'm needin' you most
Hang a moon above her hitching post
Hitch me to the one I love
(buttermilk sky)
You can if you try
Don't tell me no lie
(will you be mellow and bright tonight?
Let's Get Lost
Kay Kyser
Let's get lost, lost in each others arms
Let's get lost, let them send out alarms
And if they think we're rather rude
We'll tell the world we're in a crazy mood
Let's defrost, in a romantic mist
Let's get crossed, off everybodys list
We'll tell the world that we have found each other
Darling, let's get lost.
Clint Gorman......from memory!
Yippie yay
There'll be not wedding bells for today
'Cause I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle
(Jingle, jangle)
As I go ridin' merrily along
(Jingle, jangle)
And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single"
(Jingle, jangle)
And that song ain't so very far from wrong
(Jingle, jangle)
Oh, Lillie Belle
(Lillie Belle)
Oh, Lillie Belle
(Lillie Belle)
Though I may have done some foolin'
This is why I never fell
'Cause I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle
(Jingle, jangle)
As I go ridin' merrily along
(Jingle, jangle)
And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single"
(Jingle, jangle)
And that song ain't so very far from wrong
(Jingle, jangle)
Oh, I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle
(I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle)
As I go ridin' merrily along
(I go ridin' merrily along)
And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single"
(And they sing, "Oh, ain't you glad you're single")
And that song ain't so very far from wrong

He Wears A Pair Of Silver Wings
-Artist: Kay Kyser as sung on "The Best Years Of Our Lives"
-Adam VIII, Ltd. A-8042
-peak Billboard position # 1 for 4 weeks in 1942
-competing version by Dinah Shore charted at # 16
-Words by Eric Maschwitz and Music by Michael Carr
Although some people say he's just a crazy guy
To me he means a million other things
For he's the one who taught this happy heart of mine to fly
He wears a pair of silver wings
And though it's pretty tough, the job he does above
I wouldn't have him change it for a king
An ordinary fellow in a uniform I love
He wears a pair of silver wings
Why, I'm so full of pride when we go walking
Every time he's home on leave
He with those wings on his tunic
And me with my heart on my sleeve
But when I'm left alone and we are far apart
I sometimes wonder what tomorrow brings
For I adore that crazy guy who taught my happy heart
To wear a pair of silver wings
For I adore that crazy guy who taught my happy heart
To wear a pair of silver wings

(Gotta Get Some) Shut-Eye
Glenn Miller
Words by Johnny Mercer, music by Walter Donaldson.
As recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra on February 6th, 1939 with Marion Hutton.
Gotta get some shut-eye
Give the world the go-by
Got an awful lot of dreamin?to do...
Gotta get some shut-eye
Where the kisses flow by
Got an awful lot of dreams to come true
Gonna let that sandman sprinkle me with stars
Only hope that old lamp lighter lets me hold my baby tighter
So Im going bye-bye
Catch myself some shut-eye
Got an awful lot of dreaming to do!
Two months abroad from France to Spain
counting the stops to Madrid
in London I found no hollow ground
to lay and rest my restless bones
someone explain what am to do with all these trips around
the sun?
if life’s not a game, love’s not a war
what am I hear to do?
Make no mistake I am on the mend
stitching the seams where they tear
from hospital beds I sent my best
“stay exactly who you are”
We collide like God and the stars
we set fire to the sun
with no end in sight
with no goal in mind
we will never be
Well I've been told this all depends on.
What comes out of my mouth next.
Well I fail to see the problem
while my, eyes stay this red.
Now my best friend hangs up.
I write my words down
but I only speak the truth,
and the truth is a lie to everyone I've ever known.
But I've still got time to find another way out.
So as my heart beats, you sing along.
Sing me that same old song
beginning itself and losing everything you had.
Like when you thought that life was so predictable.
Time left your dead friend hanging on the wall.
And so it goes am I dead or just lost in conversation.
I'm drowning in a sea of people who mean nothing to me.
So I've got these big city lights,
lighting up the black empty sky.
lye in wait for this time to open up and swallow me
whole
But I've still got time to find another way out.
So as my heart beats, you sing along.
Sing me that same old song
beginning itself and losing everything you had.
Like when you thought that life was so predictable.
Time left your dead friend hanging on the wall.
And I've still got time to find another way out.
So as my heart beats, you sing along.
Sing me that same old song
beginning itself and losing everything you had.
Like when you thought that life was so predictable.
Can you feel it you're getting older everyday
Bet you didn't notice it until now
When your ashes hit the wind will you be able
To say that you lived by the words you spoke,
Took care of the love you had
I know I won't, so I'll send you a postcard from hell
Just so you know you'll have company wherever you go
Wake Up
You're all dying where you're standing
Life ticks away and nobody's...
Wake Up
You've been asleep for too long now
The city's on fire and nobody's...
Stopping it, stopping it
We all have friends who bury themselves with excuses
Why their life didn't turn out the way they thought
Like they were told when they were young
I've heard it all, yeah I've heard it all
Too many times before
Just so you know you'll have company wherever you go
Wake Up
You're all dying where you're standing
Life ticks away and nobody's...
Wake Up
You've been asleep for too long now
The city's on fire and nobody's...
Stopping it, stopping it
(Oh it's about time now)
Cause I'd rather see it die then like this
(No I can't watch anymore)
When the smoke clears we'll get a second chance
At what we had, at what we had
Wake Up
You're all dying where you're standing
Life ticks away and nobody's...
Wake Up
You've been asleep for too long now
The city's on fire and nobody's...
Stopping it, nobody's
They talk a little more with every step
that I take down that road that I've been on so long
far too long
and their eyes roll a little more with every word that I write
that shows them who they are, they really are
so burn every bridge that you cross
so you never go back again
the hardest part is moving on
take that first step won't you
(you've been feeling lost living under the gun)
before they take everything that you are
everything that you could be
at the top the bottom doesn't look so bad
but when you're at the bottom the top looks
impossible to reach
take my bones throw them to the wolves
I won't feel a thing (feel a thing)
take my soul and give it to the poor
I don't need a thing (need a thing)
I’ve run out of pages
no room for words to grow
and take on a meaning
for someone to call their own
Excuse my advances
I can’t control my tongue
it’s hard pressed and desperate
to break free and see the world
if I had the answers here
would you really want to know?
was all of this worth it?
Heaven and Hell aside
you could of saved me if you tried
a lithe bit more I've been told
keeping myself above ground
with nobody else's help
it's been a long road I know
I've been a long road I know
Sleeping with my eyes wide open
I've been keeping tabs on all my friends
who I've loved then lost or lost to love
but I keep telling myself “it's the same if your young
or if your old”
bury me quickly or I promise I will find a way
to take you down with me cause you would
take a life so you could stay
and it's long way back, but I needed
to say...
I've seen some things that shake the ground
you stand upon. I've tried to tell you,
I've done some things that make you want to lie
and say you never knew me. I've got the key,
take one It will set you free.
Big fall on me, repeat after me.
Say that nothing stays young forever anymore.
'Cause the world's a liar.
Take your love away, forget everything you know.
'Cause this world's a liar.
Your perfect life, a masquerade of locks and doors to
keep your secrets.
I seek, you hide behind lambs and cloaks, mirrors and
smoke from me.
I've got the key,
take one It will set you free.
Big fall on me, repeat after me.
Say that nothing stays young forever anymore.
'Cause the world's a liar.
Take your love away, forget everything you know.
'Cause this world's a liar.
Lay your head before you sleep and
Let me in, I'll take you in.
Lay your head before you sleep and
Let me in, I'll take you in.
Lay your head before you sleep and
Let me in, I'll take you in.
Lay your head before you sleep and
Let me in, I'll take you in.
Say that nothing stays young forever anymore.
'Cause the world's a liar.
Take your love away, forget everything you know.
'Cause this world's a liar.
Say that nothing stays young forever anymore.
'Cause the world's a liar.
Take your love away, forget everything you know.
I saw Death sitting waiting at my front door,
he said “it’s been such a long road, but now it’s time to
come”
so I packed my bags made my way to the door
said no goodbyes, just I’ll see you soon
when we become stars…
Death and I walked through the town I grew up in
and laughed at the times that we almost met
but fate had it’s way and the timing was perfect
from years, to the months, to today
please hold your applause
I’ll see you all real soon
when we become stars…
Welcome all to the end of the world
where time is cheap and the seasons stay
for as long as they want, there’s no reason here to leave
This is your last chance, turn yourself in
"Get some sleep please, you're looking awfully thin"
If the pain is too much, know I'll be there
Holding you up, never back
And if you find yourself walking through Hell
Hey kid, keeping walking till you find your way out
Don't fade away
Don't Fade away
Our lives will take us down different roads
And I'm sure time will finally take its toll
But I'll never forget the twilight we shared
Holding you close, but never close enough
In the darkest of days, you've got the ones who matter most
To stand and light your way back home
Before the Sun comes up, I would like to thank all of you
For all of those words that kept air in my lunges
And a beat in my chest, please don't say good bye
Race the sun on my way
through canyons and the dessert states
feel a strong disconnect, I’m an old soul caught in the
modern age
put my life on my back, wear fingerprints as jewelry
keep my heart safe at home, my body at sea, my past in
the ground
Put revenge down to rest
its a lost cause, call it a dying breed
put no faith in a Church, in only myself
and the love that I keep
You can’t catch a satellite
You can’t save what you kill
Stay where you are
Knee deep in a shallow place, I find a way to rest my head
By giving myself to the more than willing
But these nights shatter my dreams of falling deep in love
I trade them in for something cheap and hollow
So I will never get what I want
Touch me a little bit harder now, oh just a little bit
So sip the cheap champagne called "love without sustain"
Such a bitter taste that keeps me warm
While my body is full of stress, deeply doused in decadence
Please hold me to what I am saying
So I will never get what I want
Well I provide security to those in need
But behind these eyes is a mind full of apathy
Towards those who care and want to hold the idea that is me
My love's designed to fall apart, rip at the seems
It falls apart, rips at the seems
I told you before
I don't feel the same
I want nothing more
Oh my God what have I become?
I have lost all hope for better days with no one beside me
From the lowest I have ever been
I found rock bottom is comfortable
When you're living in a haze, lonely at twenty years old
Singing "please don't go"
Cause I've got this heart of mine
It beats for every time a second chance has been wasted on me
To whom it may concern, message was sent but burned
By a flame I thought I had put out
So let it die here and let me go
I swear that this is not the life I was taught to lead
Growing old in the same town that I grew up in
But I love my little home, though I strive for something more
Paralyzed by the roots that seem to keep me here
Crawling on the floor, breaking nails to get away
Nobody knows the trouble I've seen
I locked it up in the safest place to hide
I am down here on my knees, begging you
Please won't you take me home
Those lips are laced with good intentions
But they fail to cover up
the taste of everyone you've been with
Feeling lost and out of touch, I would kill for your attention
Cause I know we are the same, living life with no direction
Throwing all our days away, to ease the pain
You're not alone
Don't turn your back and shut me out
I know there's got to be a better way
Believe me when I tell you
I swear I could never leave
My self indulgent self destruction all done up and on her knees
But we spend these nights together, they all end the same
By picking up the shattered pieces of the one who never learned
Saint Peter stands outside his pearly gates when I arrive says
"Boy you've got a long time to wait"
I said "With all respect I haven't heard a word from God in
over twenty centuries"
He had too much on his mind to give a damn about me…
I took for granted of all the things that I was fortunate to have
like my family and my friends
I slept in late until the sun was almost dead and gone
but what was I suppose to do?
I had too much on my mind to give a damn about you…
So help me now I am lost
wandering these country streets alone
I need someone to help me
who has your name
who has your skin
who has your bones
who has your heart
I had too much on my mind to give a damn...
He had too much on my mind to give a damn...
Stop
I didn't call to say hello
I called to wish the worst of luck to everything you do...
(oh God can you blame me)
Cause you took another life to save your own
How does it feel to know that every breath you take
Belongs in someone else's lunges?
What a terrible way to live, but at least you can say that your alive
Stay
A little while won't you dear?
You got to rest those feet cause you got that long road back hell...
& I know because I've been there before, it's not the first
(and it won't be the last time)
You sell your soul to get ahead
What a terrible way to live, but at least you can say that you're alive
Bury your past with the hope that you'll get away
From everything that you've done, but it keeps
Following you, won't let you sleep till you open your mouth
Tell the world what you have done!
We came from different hospitals
Wrapped up like sons & daughters
We were too young to fall in love
Not that is really matters cause.....
Have a little war
Have a little war for
Everything I am, Everything I could be
Don't let me fall before my feet hit the ground
Take a little time
Take a little time to
Understand that I can't go with
My heart and my mind living on two different shores
To the sound of falling apart
You held your pride closer than me
And I've been alone falling apart
Learning to walk then run
In another life
In another life we
Could of had it all
but we lost it
firing all our guns at those mattered most
I've seen better days with my eyes closed
Holding on to those words that you said
"You're sick because you'll never know how lucky you are"
To the sound of falling apart
You held your pride closer than me
And I've been alone falling apart
Learning to walk then run..
As fast as I can!
To get away from anyone who ever told me I was wrong
For wanting things that I deserved, oh and all along I still believe
that he will be the death of me
Oh I can never sleep without some help
I risked it all so I can say
That I can die without the guilt
Of chasing things I never wanted or need
(So I) Forget the one that moved to LA
She is the one I cannot forgive
Cause all the things I thought we had
Are just scars I carry with me
I will grow old just like you will
We share the fate that "time kills"
And after all is said and done
Will you still question all I ever wanted or needed
Darling I compared myself to you today for the last time
Save your skin for someone who cares
Your sex appeal is cracked and flawed
Keep you skirt on and your face up
My hand it shakes, a subtle wave good bye
To a year I spent collecting dust and slowly fading away
Till I found someone who takes care of me
When I lock myself in head and throw away the key
The hole in my chest, can't be filled with
Cheap thrills or one night stands
My name will die with me, if I walked alone
To the edge of the map and never made it home
So I won't rest till I found some one to call my own
Let's take our time, let it all unwind
Everyday is another chance to turn it all around
And I swear that I fall apart each time
Close to death we all felt the storm claw at our backs
it’s the price that we pay for fleeing a lie
drifting left we all felt the cars touch as they crashed
it’s the path that we paved for feeling alive
so don’t waste time picking up the pieces of what’s
already lost
don’t worry time will fix everything
Painted dreams of my life with nightmares over head
it’s the price that we pay for fleeing a lie
fate it seems as picked the day at night you’re in my bed
it’s the path that we paved for feeling alive
so don’t waste time picking up the pieces of what’s
already lost
don’t worry time will fix everything
Please keep staying up all night
don’t fall asleep at the wheel
Dear love, I write to tell you I,
I won a battle but lost the war.
So take my hand it's gonna be a lonely road from here.
Just stay close where I can see.
Please don't go. Please don't go.
Please don't.
Two years ago, I never thought that I'd
ever see the coast like this,
be in Poland on a 4th of July.
But the road I chose, it took me far away from you
and my new home that I can't risk.
so please don't go. Please don't go.
I need your skin to keep me warm at night.
I'm drifting away.
I'm floating in the cold.
I Feel it in my bones.
Give me something to hold.
so tell me now, If I wrote a song that gave you reason
to stay
would you ever listen to the words I wrote.
these notes in my throat
for you. So tell me now.
Oh God, I, I fell in love
with someone without a heart, someone without a heart.
And oh God, I, I fell in love
With someone without a heart, someone without a heart.
Sing them a song and they will listen
to the words that can’t say themselves
say what you want there is no shame
in the truth, the ugly truth, we’re the same
but it’s all sounding the same to me
Hope for a sign that you’re someone
worth the time worth the money spent
when judgement day comes will you
stand and sing the words they want
(hey) it’s all sounding the same to us
it’s all sounding the same to us
with no secrets left to keep
I swear I’ll find a away to sell my skin
