Updated: Dwayne Johnson to star in Baywatch movie

Dwayne Johnson will star in a Baywatch movie for Paramount Pictures.
The actor took to Instagram to confirm reports that he will appear in the big screen adaptation of the '90s television series.
"This is my beach bitch!," the 42-year-old wrote. "Rumours are true... we're making #BAYWATCH the movie. Edgy, raunchy and hopefully, funny as all hell. Cue slo mo running on the beach... #WhoNeedsMouthToMouth #RedShortsBeHugginABrotha"
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sean Anders and John Morris are attached to direct the project, while Justin Malen has been hired to write the script.
Paramount has been trying to get a Baywatch movie on the scene for some time, although previous attempts have failed to materialise.
The original series ran from 1989 to 2001, with David Hasselhoff, Jeremy Jackson, Richard Jaeckel, Michael Newman and Pamela Anderson among the cast.
