Wang Yi, China's foreign minister, has rejected remarks by Shinzo Abe, Japan's prime minister, comparing tensions between the two countries to rivalry between Germany and Britain before the first world war. Gideon Rachman, chief foreign affairs commentator, says delegates will leave the World Economic Forum in Davos worried about China-Japan relations. Kadhafi’s Africa: The Untold Story
THE MANY LIES TOLD BY THE WEST IN THEIR WAR AGAINST LIBYA
*A- THE REAL REASONS FOR THE WAR IN LIBYA*
1- The first African satellite RASCOM 1
It was Libya’s Kadhafi who gave all of Africa its first real revolution in modern times: by ensuring universal coverage of
the continent via telephone, television, radio-broadcast and the many other applications such as telemedicine and
long-distance learning; for the first time in history, a low-cost connection became available across the continent, and
even into rural areas thanks to a bridging WMAX system.
The story begins in 1992 when 45 African countries created the RASCOM organization to acquire an African satellite in
order to bring down the cost of communications across the continent.
At that time, calling from or to Africa had the most expensive call rates in the world, since there was a surcharge of
500 million dollars which Europeans collected annually on telephone conversations even within some African countries,
just to transmit voice messages via European satellites like Intelsat. An African satellite would barely cost 400 millions
dollars payable once and thus avoiding the 500 million annual rental fees. Which banker wouldn’t finance such a
project?
But the difficult part of the equation remained unsettled: how does a beggar gain their freedom from exploitation by
their master by borrowing money from this same master to achieve this?
And so, the World Bank, the IMF, USA, the European Union had needlessly been bilking these countries for over 14
years.
It was in 2006 that Kadhafi put an end to the agony of senseless begging from those supposed benefactors in the West
who only grant loans at predatory rates; the Libyan leaders put 300 million dollars on the table, the African
Development Bank put 50 million, the West African Development Bank contributed 27 million and it is thus, Africa has
owned its very own communications satellite since December 26th 2000;
The very first communications satellite in its history. In the meantime, China and Russia have jumped in, this time by
donating their own technology which allowed the launching of more new satellites; South-Africa, Nigeria, Angola,
Algerian and even a second African satellite was launched in July of 2010.
And by 2020, we are expecting the very first satellite which would be 100% African and built on African soil,
specifically in Algeria. This satellite is expected to be amongst the best in the world, but would cost ten times
cheaper, a true achievement.
This is how a simple gesture worth 300 millions dollars can change the lives on an entire continent.
Kadhafi’s Libya had cost the West not only the 500 million dollars annually but billions of dollars from debt and interest
which this debt would have generated ad infinitum and exponentially, and contributed towards sustaining the obscure
system which continues to rob Africa blind.
2- African Monetary Fund, African Central Bank, African Investment Bank
The 30 billion dollars which M. Obama confiscated belongs to the Libyan Central Bank and was earmarked as the Libyan
contribution toward the finalization of the African Federation in its three keystone phases:
The African Investment Bank to be based in Sitre-Libya, The creation in 2011 of the African Monetary Fund with a
startup capital of 42 billion dollars with Yaoundé as its headquarters, the African Central Bank with its headquarters in
Abuja-Nigeria from which, the first issuance of legal tender would signal the end of the CFA Franc through which Paris
has been able to pillage some African countries for over 50 years. From this we can understand France’s grudge against
Kadhafi.
The African Monetary Fund would supplant in each and every way the activities of the International Monetary Fund on
African soil – a role which, using barely 25 billion dollars in capital, the IMF had been able to bring an entire continent
to its knees through questionable privatization policies, as witnessed by the reality of forcing African countries to
trade-in one public monopoly for a private monopoly.
It was these same Western countries which came knocking at the door trying to become members of the African
Monetary Fund (AMF) and its was via a unanimous vote of 16-17 in December 2010 in Yaoundé that Africans rejected
this proposition, enshrining that only African countries would be members of the AMF.
It therefore seems obvious that after Libya, the Western coalition will declare its next war against Algeria, since, in
addition to its enormous energy resources, that country has financial reserves exceeding 150 Billion Euros.
This is much coveted by all the countries which are now bombing Libya all of whom have the same things in common,
they are all practically bankrupt, the USA alone has 14.000 billion dollars in debt, France, Great Britain and Italy each
have 2.000 Billion in public debt while all the 46 countries of Sub

Horrendous atrocities in Ethiopian prisons
Horrendous atrocities in Ethiopian prisons
By Assefa Negash, M.D.:
Introductory note:
Dear readers, it is while I have been on vacation in a county located thousands of kilometres from my second home country, Holland where I live as exile, that I read this horrendous account of the atrocities perpetrated on fellow Ethiopians. It was while thumbing through the pages of the Ethiomedia website that I stumbled on this report that carries gory account of gruesome human rights violations taking place in Ethiopia. Words cannot convey what I felt while reading this account of the barbaric atrocities and I could not sleep that night. After having read the report, the least which I could do was to respond to one of the pleas (i.e. making the world community know about this atrocity) of the few brave Ethiopians who, at the peril of their life and in defiance of a vindictive ethnicist regime, compiled and wrote this report. So the next morning, I decided to translate it from the original Amharic language in which this report has been written into English. I have translated this Amharic document with the hope of reaching many people, dotted across every nook and corner of the world, who are concerned with human rights. Once the big hurdle of translating the original Amharic document into English has been overcome, translating the English document into other European or even Asian languages would be a minuscule task owing to the available technology at hand. And I will shortly embark on the task of translating the English document into different European languages (French, Dutch, German, Spanish, etc) with the help of some editorial help from Ethiopian and non-Ethiopian foreign friends dotted around the world.
For four consecutive days I stayed hooked on a computer (located in an internet café) translating this Amharic document into English on some days working for as long as 11 hours a day. As I could not afford the luxury of working on my own computer (as I have not taken laptop with me on vacation), I was not able to go through this document thoroughly to make detailed review of minor translation errors. But I believe that my translation would do justice to the original Amharic document in lucidly bringing out to readers what the few brave Ethiopians have compiled with extraordinary dedication, dexterity, sense of patriotism and above all, sense of humanity. Translating some of the offensive insults (directed at defendants by the Tigrean ethno-nationalists) into English was not an easy task as the nuances in Amharic cannot be adequately captured in the English language. So I had to search words and expressions in English which approximate to the Amharic nuances expressed in the original Amharic document. I have translated almost all of the documents except some of the introductory pages that I deemed are redundant. All the texts put between parenthesis signs are added by me by way of explaining the matter at hand. But I have translated the document pertaining to the defendants and the concluding part in its entirety. All the texts put between parenthesis signs are added by me (the translator) by way of explaining the matter at hand. Let me say that I take off my hat for those brave Ethiopians who compiled and wrote this report. I salute these brave Ethiopians for the altruistic effort in immortalizing the pain of the victims of these atrocities so that all human beings dotted around the world may do something to alleviate the pain of these forgotten Ethiopians that languish in the dungeons of the incumbent ethnocentric regime that has been ensconced in power in since May 1991. I also salute the exemplary Ethiopian from Tigrai (Mr. Ermias) who has been rendered physically invalid for putting his humanity before his Tigrean ethnicity.
To listen the audio version of this document, click the play button:
Shocking as the gruesome manner in which these Ethiopian prisoners were physically and psychologically tortured, any one who is aware of the hatred which some of these Tigrean ethnonationalists (the authors & perpetrators of the atrocities documented in this translated report) were brought up, hearing narratives of alleged victimisation of their ancestors by Amharas, cannot fail to fathom or understand their potential capacity and readiness to perpetrate such gruesome atrocities on Amharas and members of other ethnic groups (Oromos, Gurages, Somalis, etc). In addition to this, the ethnic ideology of hate they have embraced during the last 36 years of TPLF’s emergence and its pervasive influence or hold on the psyche of its followers has made them to consider any one outside their ethnic group as a sub-human creature. Even a member of their own group, who does not subscribe to their ethnic ideology of hate, is considered as a sub-human creature (what TPLF has done to Mr. Ermias corroborates this fact).
Let me say, in passing, a little bit about the effects of ethnic nationalism on the psyche of those who are affl

We visited 7 MPs. Will you call one?
Bill C-31 is an omnibus immigration bill that would jail asylum seekers, entrench a two-tier refugee system that would discriminate against many, and give the Immigration Minister the ability to take away people's permanent residency after they have been granted refugee status. Not only that, it advocates intrusive biometrics data collection on all migrants in the country, and gives increased powers of arrest and detention to border guards that will affect tourists, permanent residents, students and refugees alike.

MP Costas Menegakis (Conservative MP, Richmond Hill), MP Chungsen Leung (Conservative MP, Willowdale), MP Matthew Kellway (NDP MP, Beaches - East York), MP Rathika Sitsabaiesan, (NDP MP, Scarborough -- Rouge River), MP Rick Dykstra, (Conservative MP, St. Catharines), MP Roxanne James, (Conservative MP, Scarborough Centre), MP Ted Opitz, (Conservative MP, Etobicoke Centre):
We are hand-delivering this message to some Members of Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration (CIMM).
In the days to come you will be discussing Bill C-31, first in parliament and then in committee. Bill C-31 is nothing less than a Refugee Exclusion Act. If passed, it will essentially shut out many asylum seekers from gaining permanent refugee status in the country.
This is unacceptable.
Bill C-31 is an omnibus immigration bill that would jail asylum seekers, entrench a two-tier refugee system that would discriminate against many, and give the Citizenship Minister the ability to take away people's permanent residency after they have been granted refugee status. Not only that, it advocates intrusive biometrics data collection on all migrants in the country, and gives increased powers of arrest and detention to border guards that will effect tourists, permanent residents, students and refugees alike.
Bill C-31 cannot be amended. It must simply be thrown away.
The Chinese Immigration Act of 1923 is a dark chapter in Canadian immigration policy, which essentially shut out most forms of Chinese migration. It is remembered today as the Chinese Exclusion Act. Bill C-31, if passed, will be remembered as the Refugee Exclusion Act.
Don't allow this to happen.
Scrap Bill C-31 and move towards real immigration reform. Ensure full status for all residents in Canada, and status on landing for all migrants coming in to the country. Stop the military, economic, environmental and foreign policy decisions that displace people and force them to move in the first place.
Talk to your colleagues. Tell them to pick the right side of history. Don't support Bill C-31.

China's Vice Foreign Minister holds talks in Seoul
If South Korean can expect any progress on denuclearizing North Korea, it'll need China's help. With that in mind, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin was in Seoul on Friday, where he held talks with Seoul's Deputy Foreign Minister Lee Kyung-soo . The North's nuclear program was high on the agenda, as were a variety of other security issues in Northeast Asia. Liu arrived in Seoul on Thursday after a four-day visit to North Korea, making him the first high-ranking Chinese official ever to make back-to-back trips to Pyongyang and Seoul. On Saturday, the last day of his visit, Liu is scheduled to meet with Seoul's Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se and Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-Jae .- published: 21 Feb 2014
