Rob (stylized in promos as ¡Rob!) is an American comedy television series that premiered on CBS on January 12, 2012, at 8:30 pm (ET) as a mid-season replacement for Rules of Engagement, and ended on March 1, 2012. The series stars Rob Schneider alongside Cheech Marin, Claudia Bassols, Diana Maria Riva, Eugenio Derbez, Ricky Rico, and Lupe Ontiveros. The show was produced by Two and a Half Men's The Tannenbaum Company and CBS Television Studios. On May 13, 2012, CBS canceled the series.

Synopsis

The series follows Rob (Rob Schneider), a former lifelong bachelor and landscape architect with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, who marries into a tight-knit Mexican American family and attempts to be closer to them, often ending in disastrous results despite his good intentions.

Coronation Street is a British soap opera first broadcast on 9 December 1960. The following is a list of characters that first appeared or will appear in 2012, by order of first appearance. All characters were introduced by series producer, Phil Collinson. Milton Fanshaw, a new love interest for Sylvia Goodwin, arrived in January. Rob Donovan made his first appearance in July. Gloria Price, Ruby Dobbs, Mandy Kamara and her daughter, Jenna made their debuts in September. Penny Thornley arrived in October and Carole Evans made her debut in November.

Milton Fanshaw

Milton Fanshaw, played by Robert Vaughn, made his first on-screen appearance on 27 January 2012. Milton was introduced as a new love interest for Sylvia Goodwin (Stephanie Cole). The character and casting were announced on 2 November 2011. Vaughn had a three-week guest stint with the show. Of Vaughn's casting, Coronation Street producer Phil Collinson commented: "I am delighted to be welcoming The Man from U.N.C.L.E. to Coronation Street. Robert was a huge part of my childhood and a magnificent actor. I am looking forward to seeing the impact this exotic character has on the ladies of Weatherfield." The actor began filming his first scenes on 7 December 2011. Steve White from the Daily Mirror reported that Vaughn would be using the former dressing room of Betty Driver (who played Betty Turpin). The dressing room had been locked after Driver's death in October 2011. Milton is a wealthy American man who meets Sylvia while she is away on a cruise.itv.com said Milton "puts the cat firmly amongst the pigeons."Will Thorp (who played Chris Gray) called Vaughn's casting "incredible", while a Coronation Street insider said Vaughn's casting had given the show's cast a "massive boost." Jaci Stephen of the Daily Mail said Milton brings "some light relief" to the show.

Avon (ship)

The Avon, formerly known as Dunolly, was a 1,572 ton, iron sailing ship with a length of 255.6 feet, breadth of 37.6 feet and depth of 22.6 feet. She was built by Charles Connell of Glasgow in 1884 for John Brown of Glasgow. The Nourse Line bought the ship in 1890 and renamed it the Avon after the River Avon in the south west of England. She was primarily used by the Nourse Line for the transportation of Indian indentured labourers to the colonies. Details of some of these voyages are as follows:

Avon (New Zealand electorate)

Avon is a former New Zealand parliamentary electorate. It was created for the 1861 general election and existed until 1996. It was represented by 13 Members of Parliament and was held by Independents, Liberal Party or Labour Party representatives.

Population centres

The electorate was in Christchurch, New Zealand, named after the Avon River. For the 1887 by-election, polling booths were in Riccarton and Papanui. For the 1887 general election, polling booths were in Papanui, Bright's Road, Spreydon and New Brighton. For the 1890 election, polling booths were in Papanui, Richmond, Belfast, Ohoka and Clarkville.

History

The electorate was created in 1861, and existed continuously until 1996, when with MMP it was absorbed into the new Christchurch East electorate.

Alfred Richard Creyke stood in the 1861 general election (held on 1 February) in the Avon electorate for Parliament, whilst William Thomson stood in the same electorate for the Canterbury Provincial Council. Thomson proposed Creyke and vice versa; both were elected unopposed. Creyke thus became the first representative. Creyke resigned from Parliament on 21 April 1862.

Avon (county)

Avon /ˈeɪvən/ was, from 1974 to 1996, a non-metropolitan and ceremonial county in the west of England.

The county was named after the River Avon, which runs through the area. It was formed from parts of the historic counties of Gloucestershire and Somerset, together with the City of Bristol. In 1996, the county was abolished and the area split between four new unitary authorities: Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. The Avon name is still used for some purposes. The area had a population of approximately 1.08 million people in 2009.

Background

The port of Bristol lies close to the mouth of the River Avon which formed the historic boundary between Gloucestershire and Somerset. In 1373 a charter constituted the area as the County of the Town of Bristol, although it continued to fall within the jurisdiction of the two counties for some purposes.

The appointment of a boundaries commission in 1887 led to a campaign for the creation of a county of Greater Bristol. The commissioners, while recommending that Bristol should be "neither in the county of Gloucester nor of Somerset for any purpose whatsoever", did not extend the city's boundaries. The commission's timidity was attacked by the Bristol Mercury and Daily Post, who accused them of using the "crude method of the Procrustean bed".
