Jared Scot Allen (born April 4, 1982) is an American football defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). Allen played college football at Idaho State, and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. A four-time Pro Bowl selection and All-Pro, Allen has tallied 105 sacks for his career, the most since he joined the league in 2004.
Allen was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in San Jose, California. His father, Ron, was once on the training camp roster of the Minnesota Vikings.
Allen was a one-year letter winner at Los Gatos High School, under coach Butch Cattolico; his other two seasons were at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, California. As a senior, he was named First-Team All-League and Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a First-Team All-Central Coast Section selection, and member of Who’s Who in Sport. Allen was selected by the North squad for the North vs. South San Jose Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star football game, after a senior season where he racked up 96 tackles, 12 sacks, five forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries.
Wesley Carter "Wes" Welker (born May 1, 1981) is an American football wide receiver for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He has also played for the San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins. Welker played college football at Texas Tech. He is engaged to model Anna Burns.
Despite being undrafted, Welker has had a successful career. Only one player in NFL history, Gale Sayers, had more all-purpose yards in his first three NFL seasons than Welker did with the Dolphins; Welker holds the Dolphins' all-time records for total kickoff returns, kickoff return yardage, total punt returns, and return touchdowns.
As a Patriot, Welker led the league in receptions in 2007 (tied with T.J. Houshmandzadeh), 2009 and 2011. Welker holds the four highest single-season reception totals in Patriots history, as well as four of the top ten receiving yardage totals, including the franchise record. He also holds the franchise records for most receptions in a single game, most receiving yards in a single game, and longest reception. Welker, who had three consecutive 110-reception seasons, is the only receiver in NFL history with at least 110 receptions in any three seasons. He has also been selected to the Pro Bowl, the All-Pro Team, or both, in every season of his Patriots career.
Daniel Patrick Pugh (born May 15, 1956), professionally known as Dan Patrick, is an American Sports Emmy-winning sportscaster, radio personality, and actor from Mason, Ohio. He currently hosts The Dan Patrick Show which is broadcast on radio on Premiere Radio Networks, and on television on The Audience Network for DIRECTV subscribers, co-hosts NBC's Football Night in America, and serves as a senior writer for Sports Illustrated. He previously worked at ESPN for 18 years, where he often anchored the weeknight and Sunday 11 PM edition of SportsCenter.
Patrick attended the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. His brother, Bill Pugh, is a longtime sports radio executive, and is currently the head of programming at Clear Channel San Diego. Patrick was a basketball player in high school at William Mason High School, becoming an Ohio all-state selection his senior year. He attended Eastern Kentucky University on a basketball scholarship for two years before transferring to the University of Dayton, where he majored in broadcast journalism. Patrick is also an alumnus of the Eta Hexaton Chapter of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity at Dayton.
Lamarr Houston (born June 24, 1987) is an American football defensive end for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Raiders in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at Texas.
Houston attended Thomas B. Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He played linebacker and running back. He finished his career with 3,325 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns as a running back and 239 tackles and 13 sacks as a linebacker.
Houston started his college career as a defensive end but switched to defensive tackle as a junior. During his career he started 33 of 50 games, recording 133 tackles and 14 sacks. He recorded 10 tackles and a sack during the Longhorns loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2010 BCS National Championship Game.
Houston was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the second round (44th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft, and started his rookie year at left defensive end.
Golden H. Tate III (born August 2, 1988) is an American football wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Notre Dame, and was recognized as an All-American. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Tate was born in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He is the son of Golden Tate, Jr., a former wide receiver at Tennessee State who was the 120th overall pick in the fifth-round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He played high school football for Pope John Paul II High School.
Tate was drafted out of high school by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 42nd round of the 2007 amateur draft. Tate did not sign with the Diamondbacks and instead played baseball for the University of Notre Dame. In Tate's freshman year at Notre Dame (2008), he played in 18 games and batted .262 with three doubles and three stolen bases. Tate hit his first home run against Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky in his sophomore year. He finished his sophomore season with a .329 batting average after playing in 55 games. Tate also scored 45 runs his sophomore year which is the third highest by any Notre Dame baseball player.
