Diego is a Spanish male name derived from the Hebrew Yaʻăqōbh (Jacob), via the name of Saint James the Greater (Sant Yago), re-analysed as Santiago and San Diego. The assimilation of the final t of Sant into the name is attested in other saints' names, including Spanish and Portuguese Telmo 'Elmo' (< Sant Elmo) and Slovenian Tilen 'Giles' (< Šent Ilen).
Diego is a very popular name in the Spanish-speaking world. In Brazil/Portugal, France and Italy it is a very widespread name as well (as are other Spanish names such as Fernando). For example: due to the Spanish influence from the days of the kingdom of Naples, on the death of king Alfonso I of Naples (also known as Alfonso V of Aragon) in 1458, a famous elegy was composed by one Diego del Castillo.
The patronymic for Diego is Díaz in Castillian (used for example by Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, better known as El Cid) and Dias in Portuguese. Like many patronymics, these have become common surnames in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking regions. The form Diéguez is much less common; Diegues can be found in Portuguese-speaking countries. de Diego and Diego can also be found as surnames.
Timothy Matthew "Tim" Howard (born March 6, 1979) is an American soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for English club Everton and the United States national team.
Howard started his career with the North Jersey Imperials before making a move to the MetroStars. His appearances soon attracted the attention of Manchester United, who signed him in 2003. He enjoyed relative success with them as they won the 2003 FA Community Shield, the 2003–04 FA Cup and the 2005–06 League Cup. However, after United signed Edwin van der Sar, Howard went out on loan to Everton to play more first-team football and eventually signed permanently with them in February 2007. On 4 January 2012, Howard scored a goal and his first as a professional footballer against Bolton Wanderers. This made him the fourth goalkeeper to score a goal in a Premier League match.
Howard first represented the United States national team in 2002 and was an unused substitute for the 2006 World Cup. He later established himself as first-choice and started all of the United States' games at the 2010 World Cup as they reached the Round of 16.
Nacha Guevara (born Clotilde Acosta, October 3, 1940) is an Argentine singer and actress from Mar de Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Trained as a dancer and actress, she discovered by chance a career as a singer becoming a symbol around 1968 in the avant-garde movement at Instituto Di Tella in Buenos Aires, the preeminent pioneer center for visual and theater experimentation at that time. She was a controversial cult figure in the underground movement and as a singer-songwriter in the "cafe-concert" scene, singing tunes and parodies by Boris Vian, George Brassens, Tom Lehrer, Nicolas Guillén and argentinian writers like Julio Cortázar, Jorge de la Vega, Ernesto Schoo and others.
At the beginning of 1970, one of her pivotal works was "Nacha sings Benedetti", where she and Alberto Favero, musical partner and at that time husband, adapted some of the most famous poems of Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti to music.
In 1973 she obtained great recognition by critics and audiences with a big revue named Las mil y una Nachas (One thousand and one Nachas). Nacha Guevara exiled herself first to Peru then Mexico during the Dirty War, threatened by the Triple A death squad. She attempted to make a comeback in 1976 with a new version of "Las mil y una Nachas". The show was never performed. After the dress rehearsal prior to the opening night, a bomb destroyed the theater, killing members of the crew and forcing her to flee the country once more.
Dora the Explorer is an American animated television series created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh, and Eric Weiner. Dora the Explorer became a regular series in 2000. The show is carried on the Nickelodeon cable television network, including the associated Nick Jr. channel. It aired on CBS until September 2006. A Spanish-dubbed version first aired as part of a Nick en español block on NBC Universal-owned Telemundo through September 2006; since April 2008, this version of the program has been carried on Univision as part of the Planeta U block.
Dora, the main character, is an eight-year-old girl who embarks on a trip in every episode in order to find something or help somebody. She asks the viewers at home to help her find new ways to reach places with the help of Map. She also teaches viewers Spanish, introducing them to short words and phrases.
Dora has a positive view of the characters she meets, failing even to hold a grudge against the mischievous fox, Swiper, who continually attempts to steal items from her party. She acts against villains only when it seems that compromise is impossible, and even in these cases, fails to display actual anger. She gives others a chance to try their hands at tasks even when she herself might have an easier time with them. Dora values her family, whom she loves openly, though she spends little time indoors at home with them. She tries to introduce her traditions and customs, subtly and without compulsion, to those who are not familiar with them.
Diego Ramón Jiménez Salazar, known as El Cigala (Spanish for 'Norway Lobster', a shellfish popular in Spain), is a famous Spanish Romani Flamenco singer. As he himself has said, the nickname was given to him by three guitar players, Los Losada, for being very thin, not by Camarón de la Isla as commonly believed.
One of his great albums is 2003's "Lágrimas Negras", a cooperation with then 85 year old Cuban pianist Bebo Valdés. The easy fusion of Cuban rhythms and flamenco vocals made this record an international success.
Born into a family of Spanish Gypsy artists and intellectuals in Madrid, El Cigala started singing in flamenco peñas (enthusiasts' clubs) and tablaos, until his excellent meter and ability to mark the rhythm caught the attention of world-class bailaores like Mario Maya, Faíco, Farruco, El Güito, Manuela Carrasco, Cristóbal Reyes, Carmen Cortés, Joaquín Cortés and he began touring as part of their companies. By the late nineties, having collaborated on recordings by Camarón, Tomatito, Gerardo Núñez and Vicente Amigo, he was ready to record his own CD. With the success of "Undebel" he launched his career as solo singer. He has now recorded 8 CDs and has won two Grammys and 5 Latin Grammy nominations.
Turning out quite well
Feel like I never felt
Burning things in hands
It hurts
But empty road is always fine
Singing lullabies
You liked
I never did this before
Never threw away the backdoor keys
Still thinking of shine
Shining all through your mind
Into your beautiful face
And all amazing grace
Turning out quite well
Like I never felt
All those things in hands
It burns
But maybe you’d come around
And tell me about your life sometime
Remind me of shine
Shining all through your mind
Into your beautiful face
And all amazing grace
I hope you’ll find
Things to play with
Cause I made up my mind
don't know where she's been never felt so near
sun ‘s leaving traces in her mind
air is freezing in her lungs as she's breathing all these
words
were stuck inside her throat for quite a while
he's got a plan and he wants you to take a part in it
don't let it go to waste
a different kind of taste a new chance to shatter
innocence
to help it all make sense
write a letter for her friends they won't understand
though it helps to give you peace of mind
now it seems to her quite clear that once it disapears
you won't regret the things you left behind
all these places in her dreams she's not sure yet what
she feels
but I never thought it ever go that far
he's got a plan and he wants you to take a part in it
don't let it go to waste
sounds like a dream to me a dream that she has never seen
Sure there is an awful thing nobody should see
keep it where the water is
keep it where the silence is around
A distant place with high wired fence and tigers and
wild bears
take it there and lock it there
keep it there tied up to the ground
make yourself immaculate
with all nice words leaking out your mouth
Don't know just what it is but lips are moving quite
well
do you think I care
you learned how hard it is you made a promise to
yourself
that you won't tell so you won't tell
But now there is another thing not meant for your ears
it's right here under my skin
just a word and it could break its ties
and jump into your face right between your eyes
and slowly seep into your head
forever though it never crossed your mind
Well I'm not listening but you're not talking anyway
as far as I can tell
you learned how hard it is you made a promise to
yourself
that you won't fail so you won't fail
Still there is this awful thing nobody should see
keep it where the water is
keep it where the silence is around
Better to be aware of danger
don't talk to noone especially to strangers
the best way to not tell knowing nothing
clearly you can't say something out of nothing
sure you know my name
I know you know my life before
so twisting and turning
silly things they call desire
always push me to want some more
like this black-eyed beauty
all in all it’s just walk on fire
nowhere to stand for a while
you know my life before
but does it bother me at all
who am I to stop you though
you’re calling out one tragedy
Down by the sea shore glares marble white skin
the body of a young girl what a beauty she had been
eyes and hair and lips beyond compare
what else can you do now but think of leaving her there
Down by the sea shore glares marble white skin
the body of a young girl what a beauty she had been
she had dreams of places and found someone to tell
but had she ever thought that he might be dreaming as
well
She said touch me now he said I won't
so leave me here it won't be long
till we get there where words will have new meaning
he said come on you understand
she said I do but take my hand
and I won't ask for any other reason
Down by the sea shore is what they wanted to find
a battered old suitcase an empty bottle of wine
among other treasures they found a magical spell
so they were flying with the seagulls
Iba a sentir algo asi
Lo que un amor
Tan magico vivia
all kinds of bliss
a day like this is gonna throw it back to you
and after that you're turning back you try the best you
can do
another time another reason why
what a sound
another day another way you die
make it loud
you can't avoid it things always get boring when you just
try to stand still
an urge to vomit can't you feel it don't you know it in a
moment you certainly will
even if your head's turning round please keep on dancing
all goes to waste if you just mind to turn around
forget all the things you are facing - dance is something
you know where you're placed in
'cause tonight all is just fine if you turn around
another time another reason why
what a sound
another day another way you die
I don't know who I am anymore,
My world stops and starts right outside your door,
I'm feeling weak,
And I can't sleep tonight
Never thought that I would ever feel this way,
I'm hanging on to every word that you say
I beaten down
I come around
One look in your eyes and I am saved
Whatever you want, I want
Whatever you feel, I feel
I follow you, I follow you
I follow you, but I keep losing me.
You've taken all control of everything I know
And I miss the days when I was happy on my own.
When I could breathe, when I could dream,
So break my heart and give me back my soul
Whatever you want, I want,
Whatever you feel, I feel,
Cause I follow you, I follow you
I follow you, but I keep losing,
Wherever you go, I go
Whatever you need, I need
See I follow you, you know I do
I follow you but I keep losing me
I can't face it anymore
Just giving in,
You change, I break, You hesitate
Don't think and no excuse
I don't want to be like this
I'm invisible, One kiss and now it's gone,
And now I feel so wrong
Whatever you want, I want
Whatever you feel, I feel
I follow you, You know I do,
I follow you
Wherever you go, I go
Whatever you need, I need
See I follow you(follow you), you know I do(know I do)
I follow you but I keep losing me
Wherever you go(wherever you go) I go, (I follow you)
Whatever you feel, I feel
Cause I follow you (but I keep losing me, but I keep losing me)
Lasting things are not what these days can bring
a blink of an eye what do you think
nothing's like it was before
as this song is not gonna last for long
they hope you will still stand strong
when they're not here anymore
Step out and breathe
you still got a lifetime to spend
you think you've been near
truth there's you've been almost there
take what you need
something you like the most and go home
give them one tear and one more to go
Lasting things are not what these days can bring
a blink of an eye what do you think
nothing's like it was before
shining bright and making the wrong things right
oh how a great delight nobody's here anymore
You're smiling again
and like you did before you're smiling again
all the people go by
what they see is you lying on the ground
and rain is falling down
