How To Use Velcro Rollers
Velcro is a company that produces the first commercially marketed fabric hook-and-loop fastener, invented in 1948 by the Swiss electrical engineer George de Mestral. De Mestral patented Velcro in 1955, subsequently refining and developing its practical manufacture until its commercial introduction in the late 1950s.
The word Velcro is a portmanteau of the two French words velours ("velvet"), and crochet ("hook").
Hook-and-loop fasteners consist of two components: typically, two lineal fabric strips (or, alternatively, round "dots" or squares) which are attached (e.g., sewn, adhered, etc.) to the opposing surfaces to be fastened. The first component features tiny hooks; the second features even smaller and "hairier" loops. When the two components are pressed together, the hooks catch in the loops and the two pieces fasten or bind temporarily. When separated, by pulling or peeling the two surfaces apart, the velcro strips make a distinctive "ripping" sound.
The first Velcro sample was made of cotton, which proved impractical and was replaced by Nylon and polyester. Velcro fasteners made of Teflon loops, polyester hooks, and glass backing are used in aerospace applications, e.g. on space shuttles.
Junji Arias (Born Anthony James Jude Villegas Arias on August 5, 1976 at Makati City, Philippines.) He is the current vocalist and chief songwriter of Filipino rock band, Velcro. Junji is known for his raw, sharp-edged raspy vocals and is musically versatile, playing a wide range of instruments, including the guitar, keyboards, and several percussion instruments.
He also works as a professional composer, producer and does voice-overs and commercial jingles. Previously, he was a member of the largely unknown band Excerpts, and formed Velcro in 2000 as an acoustic group together with Rivermaya drummer, Mark Escueta, and Excerpts lead guitarist, James Diaz. They were later joined by Bolichie Suzara on Bass and Alex Fidel on Drums for their debut album, "Ubod ng Lakas na Dikoryenteng Kombo". All 3 singles made top 10 in the Philippine charts. In 2007, he released his single "98 Seconds" in Germany and China.
Began his education at Colegio San Agustin-Makati, but got into a lot of trouble growing up and went on to different high schools to finish, then to college at I/AME, majoring in Management/Economics. He began his singing career as a solo act at Ka Freddies in Tagaytay City in 1993 at the age of 17, after being discovered by international folk star, Freddie Aguilar. He released his first album under Warner Music Philippines with the band Excerpts in 1999 but started getting public recognition after the release of his independent album with Velcro in 2004 distributed by Viva Records.
