Purno Agitok Sangma (born September 1, 1947, Meghalaya, India) is an Indian politician. He is a former Speaker of Lok Sabha and Chief Minister of Meghalaya. He was a co-founder of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and remained a member of the Lok Sabha for eight terms, i.e. 6th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th Lok Sabha. Currently he represents the Tura (ST) constituency in the West Garo Hills district in the eighth Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

P. A. Sangma was born on 1 September 1947 in village Chapati in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya to Dipchon Ch. Marak and Smt. Chimri A. Sangma.

After completing his graduation in (B.A. (Hons.) from St. Anthony's College, Shillong, he went to Dibrugarh University in Assam for his Masters degree in International Relations. Subsequently, he also obtained a degree in Law (LL.B).

In 1973, he became Vice-President of the Pradesh Youth Congress in Meghalaya and became the General Secretary the next year. He served as the General Secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee of Meghalaya from 1975 to 1980.

Agatha K. Sangma (born July 24, 1980) is a Member of Parliament of India (MP), and part of the 15th Lok Sabha. She represents the Tura constituency of Meghalaya state, and won the Indian parliamentary elections as a candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Presently she is youngest Minister of State in the current Cabinet.

Agatha Sangma was born in New Delhi to P. A. Sangma, a prominent Indian leader and politician, and former speaker of the Lok Sabha, and Smt. Soradini K. Sangma. She was brought up in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya. Her brother Conrad Sangma is the Leader of the Opposition in Meghalaya.

She received her LLB degree from Pune University and later joined the bar in Delhi High Court. She did her Masters in Environmental Management from Nottingham University, UK.

Agatha Sangma was first elected to the 14th Lok Sabha in a by-election in May 2008, after her father P.A. Sangma resigned from the seat to join state politics. Later she was reelected to 15th Lok Sabha where she is the youngest Indian MP. At age 29, she is the youngest minister in the council of ministers of 15th Lok Sabha.

Mukul M. Sangma (born 20 April 1965) is an Indian politician and a leader of the Indian National Congress party in Meghalaya state. He is the current Chief Minister of Meghalaya.

Sangma was born on April 20, 1965 at Chengkompara village in the present day West Garo Hills district to Binoy Bhushan M Marak and Roshana Begum. He completed his school education from the Government High School in Ampati in 1982 and passed his pre-university examination in Science from St Anthony's College in Shillong in 1984. He graduated in medicine from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal in 1989. While studying, he occupied a number of positions in the governing body of the Students Council of RIMS. In 1991, he joined as a medical and health officer at Zikzak Public Health Centre.

Sangma joined active politics in 1993, when he was elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from Ampatigiri constituency as an independent candidate. He was appointed chairman of the Meghalaya Transport Corporation. He was re-elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from Ampatigiri constituency in 1998, 2003 and 2008 as an Indian National Congress candidate.

Dr Roger Leslie Berry (born 4 July 1948) is a British Labour Party politician, who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kingswood from 1992 to 2010.

Roger Berry was born in 1948 in Huddersfield and educated at the Dalton County Primary School on Mayfield Avenue in Huddersfield; Huddersfield New College; the University of Bristol, where he obtained a BSc in Economics in 1970; and the University of Sussex where he was awarded a DPhil in Economics in 1977.

Berry lectured in Economics at the School of African and Asian Studies in London from 1973-4; Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex from 1973-4; the University of Papua New Guinea from 1974-8; and the University of Bristol from 1978-92. He was elected as a councillor to the Avon County Council in 1981, becoming the deputy in 1985 and the group leader in from 1986–92; he stood down from the council in 1993.

He contested Weston-super-Mare at the 1983 General Election but was defeated by Jerry Wiggin. Berry also unsuccessfully fought the seat of Bristol for the European Parliament in 1984.

Narendra Damodardas Modi (Gujarati: નરેન્દ્ર મોદી; born 17 September 1950) is the current Chief Minister of the Indian state of Gujarat. Born in a middle class family in Vadnagar, he was the third of six children born to Damodardas Mulchand Modi and his wife Heeraben. He has been a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since childhood also having interest in politics since adolescence. He holds a master's degree in political science. In 1998, he was chosen by L. K. Advani, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to direct the election campaign in Gujarat as well as Himachal Pradesh.

He became Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001, promoted to the office at a time when his predecessor Keshubhai Patel had resigned, following the defeat of BJP in the by-elections. His tenure as chief minister of Gujarat began on 7 October 2001, and he is the longest serving Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat. In July 2007 he became the longest serving Chief Minister in Gujarat's history when he had been in power for 2063 days continuously. He was elected again for a third term on 23 December 2007 in the state elections, which he had cast as a "referendum on his rule".
