Joab
Joab (Hebrew יוֹאָב ModernYo'av Tiberian Yôʼāḇ) the son of Zeruiah, was the nephew of King David and the commander of his army, according to the Bible.
Name
The name Joab (יוֹאָב) is derived from Yahweh (יהוה), the name of the God of Israel, and the Hebrew word 'av' (אָב), meaning 'father'. It therefore means 'Yahweh [is] father'. Apart from David's nephew, the name is given to two other individuals in the Bible (see Ezra 2:6, 8:9). Those are the descendants of Joab of Bethlehem the son of Zeruiah the subject is of the house and head of the house. The individual is Obadiah the son of Jehiel. It is also a common name in modern Israel.
The name Yoav (Joab) may also be attributed to the district of Moav (Moab in Latin transcription),eastern bank of the Jordan, from where Ruth the Moabitess came.
Biblical narrative
Joab was the son of Zeruiah, a sister of king David, who made him captain of his army (2 Samuel 8:16; 20:23; 1 Chronicles 11:6; 18:15; 27:34). He had two brothers, Abishai and Asahel. Asahel was killed by Abner in combat, for which Joab took revenge by murdering Abner in an ambush against David's wishes (2 Samuel 2:13-32; 3:27).

Brigadier Francis Ogolla said on Wednesday that the third body was spotted close to where two bodies had been discovered on Tuesday. Four other crew members have not yet been found. Tuesday 1st February, 1994: Thousands of people attended a peaceful but emotional memorial service for Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the grand old man of Kenya's post-independence politics. His son Raila, a member of parliament, told mourners a light had gone from their lives. Jaramogi died after a heart attack on January 20 in Kisumu, 400 km (250 miles) northwest of Nairobi. He was 82. He was buried the following Saturday close to his home in rural Nyamira. A Kenyan military official said on Wednesday that rescue workers had found a third body at the crash site of a Ugandan military helicopter on Mount Kenya.
Brigadier Francis Ogolla said on Wednesday that the third body was spotted close to where two bodies had been discovered on Tuesday.
Four other crew members have not yet been found.
"Those who were on the site were able to see a third body but it was in a position that they were not able to retrieve it, and the weather was getting bad so they had to come back immediately," Ogolla told journalists on Wednesday.
"If that is true, then we can say that out of the seven crew who were in that aircraft, three are accounted for, and four are still not yet accounted for," he said.
The bodies of the two dead Ugandan army officers that have so far been retrieved were flown into Nairobi's Wilson airport aboard a Kenya Air Force helicopter.
Three Ugandan military helicopters crashed in different areas of Mount Kenya on Sunday.
The Mi-24 gunships were heading to Somalia to help African Union forces fight al-Qaida-linked militants.
A fourth helicopter in the group did not crash.
Christopher Stewart, a helicopter pilot with Tropic Air who is helping in the rescue operation, said the crashed helicopter where the bodies were found is 75 percent destroyed.
He said it was unlikely there were any survivors from the crash.

A Kenyan military official said on Wednesday that rescue workers had found a third body at the crash site of a Ugandan military helicopter on Mount Kenya.
Brigadier Francis Ogolla said on Wednesday that the third body was spotted close to where two bodies had been discovered on Tuesday.
Four other crew members have not yet been found.
"Those who were on the site were able to see a third body but it was in a position that they were not able to retrieve it, and the weather was getting bad so they had to come back immediately," Ogolla told journalists on Wednesday.
"If that is true, then we can say that out of the seven crew who were in that aircraft, three are accounted for, and four are still not yet accounted for," he said.
The bodies of the two dead Ugandan army officers that have so far been retrieved were flown into Nairobi's Wilson airport aboard a Kenya Air Force helicopter.
Three Ugandan military helicopters crashed in different areas of Mount Kenya on Sunday.
The Mi-24 gunships were heading to Somalia to help African Union forces fight al-Qaida-linked militants.
A fourth helicopter in the group did not crash.
Christopher Stewart, a helicopter pilot with Tropic Air who is helping in the rescue operation, said the crashed helicopter where the bodies were found is 75 percent destroyed.
He said it was unlikely there were any survivors from the crash.

Tuesday 1st February, 1994:
Thousands of people attended a peaceful but emotional memorial service for Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the grand old man of Kenya's post-independence politics. His son Raila, a member of parliament, told mourners a light had gone from their lives. Jaramogi died after a heart attack on January 20 in Kisumu, 400 km (250 miles) northwest of Nairobi. He was 82. He was buried the following Saturday close to his home in rural Nyamira.
Jaramogi, undisputed leader of the Luo tribe, was Vice-President under founding President Jomo Kenyatta from 1964, but in 1966 Kenyatta dismissed him and for a time placed him under arrest. In the early 90's, Jaramogi had founded the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy (FORD-Kenya) party in opposition to President Daniel arap Moi.
The Kenya government was criticised for rejecting a request to give Jaramogi a state burial, fly the national flag at half-mast and to bury him at parliament buildings or Independence Square. After the service Odinga's body, draped in the FORD-Kenya party flag, was accompanied through the streets by a large, chanting crowd to his home.

Joab
Joab (Hebrew יוֹאָב ModernYo'av Tiberian Yôʼāḇ) the son of Zeruiah, was the nephew of King David and the commander of his army, according to the Bible.
Name
The name Joab (יוֹאָב) is derived from Yahweh (יהוה), the name of the God of Israel, and the Hebrew word 'av' (אָב), meaning 'father'. It therefore means 'Yahweh [is] father'. Apart from David's nephew, the name is given to two other individuals in the Bible (see Ezra 2:6, 8:9). Those are the descendants of Joab of Bethlehem the son of Zeruiah the subject is of the house and head of the house. The individual is Obadiah the son of Jehiel. It is also a common name in modern Israel.
The name Yoav (Joab) may also be attributed to the district of Moav (Moab in Latin transcription),eastern bank of the Jordan, from where Ruth the Moabitess came.
Biblical narrative
Joab was the son of Zeruiah, a sister of king David, who made him captain of his army (2 Samuel 8:16; 20:23; 1 Chronicles 11:6; 18:15; 27:34). He had two brothers, Abishai and Asahel. Asahel was killed by Abner in combat, for which Joab took revenge by murdering Abner in an ambush against David's wishes (2 Samuel 2:13-32; 3:27).
