Andrew Stephen Bower Knight (born 1 November 1939 in England) is a journalist, editor, and director of News Corporation.

He joined The Economist Magazine in 1966 on the international business and investment sections. From March 1968 to April 1970 he served in the Washington offices of the paper before returning to Europe to establish its European section and, in 1973, its offices in Brussels.

Knight was named Editor of The Economist in October 1974. Aged 34, he was the second youngest editor in the magazine's history, and tripled the magazine's circulation during his 11 years at the helm. He remained editor until 1986, and was named International Editor of the Year by World Press Review in June 1981.

He masterminded the takeover of the then floundering Telegraph Group in 1985, turning the ailing Daily Telegraph into the highest selling broadsheet in the UK. Knight successfully approached Conrad Black for financing of the takeover, and controversially appointed Max Hastings, a historian and former BBC journalist, as editor of The Daily Telegraph. Knight was Chief Executive and Editor-in-Chief of the London Daily Telegraph Group from January 1986 until October 1989.

Hannie Rayson (born 31 March 1957) is an Australian playwright.

Rayson was born in Melbourne, Victoria and graduated from the University of Melbourne and the Victorian College of Arts. She has worked as a freelance journalist and editor in addition to her primary career as playwright and screenwriter. Rayson was the co-founder of the community theatre group, Theatreworks in Melbourne's eastern suburb of St. Kilda, working there for four years while writing. Rayson has been writer-in-residence at Geelong's Mill Theatre, Playbox Theatre, La Trobe University (which has awarded her an Honorary Doctorate of Letters), and Monash University.

Recognised as one of Australia's most significant playwrights, Rayson's first major success was Hotel Sorrento, which won several prizes including the Australian Writers' Guild Award. The play has become an Australian classic, regularly performed by regional theatre groups, and appearing in university courses and on the high school syllabus. The film of the play, directed by Richard Franklin, won an AFI Award for best screenplay (Peter Fitzpatrick and Franklin). In 2010, the play's London debut won critical acclaim.

Anthony McVay Simpson MBE (born 8 July 1936), better known by his stage name Tony Warren, is an award-winning English television scriptwriter, best known for creating the soap opera Coronation Street. He has also been an actor, has created other television dramas and written critically acclaimed novels.

Warren was born Anthony McVay Simpson, adopting Warren as a stage name in his early acting career. As a child, he trained at the Elliott-Clarke theatre school in Liverpool. He became a regular on BBC Radio Children's Hour and also acted in many radio plays. During this period he performed with many of the people who were later to become household names through Coronation Street, most notably Violet Carson and Doris Speed, who played Ena Sharples and Annie Walker respectively. He later appeared on the stage and in several early ITV Plays of the Week.

According to BBC producer Olive Shapley, who had worked with Warren on Children's Hour, the idea for Florizel Street later changed to Coronation Street, came to him late one night in 1959 while they were returning to Manchester by train. Shapley recalled:
