MUMBAI: Nvidia, known for it's Tegra mobile processors as well as graphic cards, has just blown the lid off the next generation of graphic cards, the 900 series. The Geforce GTX 980 and 970 are running the new Maxwell GPUs, capable of pushing some serious graphics at a low power cost and at a good price.
According to Jen-Hsun Huang, Nvidia's co-founder and CEO, "Maxwell has been years in the making, inspired by our gamers, and created by the best minds in 3D graphics," and the result that is a plethora of new features.
Why spend tens of thousands on a QHD display when your Maxwell GPU can output QHD resolution on a 1080p monitor at a higher quality. Therefore, it not only makes maximum use of your existing monitor but also delivers image quality that is of higher quality since the GPU is rendering at a higher resolution and condensing it on a smaller screen.
With VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination), game developers will be able to put real-time dynamic lighting into their environments. MFAA is a brand new anti-aliasing technique that will remove the rough edges from your games, without much strain on the GPU.
The 900 series is also Virtual Reality ready with VR Direct, which syncs both the left and right eye displays perfectly on your VR device, like an Oculus Rift, so that the user does not get motion sickness.
GTX980 and 970 will retail starting from Rs 46,000 and Rs 28,000, respectively.
