Casady & Greene, founded in 1984 by Robin Casady, was a software publisher of shareware products, primarily for the Macintosh. C&G published fonts in the earlier days of desktop publishing; founder Casady partnered with Michael Greene, founder of Greene Inc who developed QuickDex. An expansion into games came in 1987, when they published Crystal Quest by Patrick Buckland. This game marked their only foray into the Amiga market.
Other software to follow were the security suite AME, crash recovery utility Crash Barrier, InfoGenie, iData, Let's Keep It Simple Spreadsheet (Let's KISS), Spreadsheet 2000, InstaFiles! and various games: Sky Shadow, Mission Starlight, Glider, Aqua Blooper Piper, Pararena, Mission Thunderbolt, Spaceway 2000, Silicon Casino, Glider PRO, AmoebArena, Step On It!, Zone Warrior I and II, and Crystal Crazy.
C&G was the initial distributor of SoundJam MP, a program which was the basis for Apple Computer's iTunes. They also distributed Conflict Catcher and Spell Catcher, popular tools for the Classic Mac OS.

Pangea Software is an Apple product game company based in Austin, Texas that is owned and operated by Brian Greenstone. Founded in 1987, the company began as a developer of Apple IIGS games, with the first (and most notable) being Xenocide. In 1991, they switched to Macintosh development; notable titles included Power Pete, Nanosaur, Bugdom, Cro-Mag Rally, and Otto Matic. Since 2008, the company has mostly ceased developing Mac games and instead chosen to focus on iOS games, due to them being a more lucrative business venture.
Pangea specializes in video games, the majority of which are 3D third person shooters. They have a shareware/demo version available for download from their website; serial numbers must be purchased to unlock the full versions. In 1995, Pangea made a deal with Apple to bundle their games with Macintosh computers; this deal ended in 2006, when Apple decided to stop bundling third-party software.
In addition to games, Pangea also specializes in panoramic photography services.
Silicon Beach Software was an early developer of software products for the Macintosh personal computer. It was founded in San Diego, California in 1984 by Charlie Jackson and his wife Hallie. Jackson later co-founded FutureWave Software with Jonathan Gay, the company that produced the first version of what is now Adobe Flash. Although Silicon Beach Software began as a publisher of game software, it also published what was called "productivity software" at the time.
Silicon Beach's best known "productivity software" product was SuperPaint, a graphics program which combined features of Apple's MacDraw and MacPaint with several innovations of its own. SuperPaint2 and Digital Darkroom were the first programs on the Macintosh to offer a Plug-in Architecture, allowing outside software developers to extend both programs' capabilities.
Silicon Beach was a pioneer in graphic tools for desktop publishing. Not only was SuperPaint a tool that had advanced graphic editing capabilities for its day, but Digital Darkroom was also a pioneering photo editor. It was grayscale only, not color (like the early Macintosh computers), but had a number of interface innovations, including the Magic Wand tool, which also appeared later in Photoshop. It also had a proprietary option for printing grayscale content on dot matrix printers. Digital Darkroom was used professionally to clean up scanned images for clip art libraries.
Silicon Beach is the Westside region of the Los Angeles metropolitan area that is home to over 500 tech startup companies. Major technology companies have opened offices in the region including Google, Yahoo!, YouTube, BuzzFeed, AOL, EdgeCast Networks, and MySpace. The region is considered the second- or third-largest tech hub in the world, according to various reports.
This has had major impacts on the type and availability of office space and on home prices in Playa Vista, Playa Del Rey, Westchester, Santa Monica, and Venice, as these areas have become more desirable due to this influx. The effects are also spilling over into Marina del Rey which is attracting tech firms.
Start-up pockets have also emerged in nearby Culver City, West L.A., and El Segundo. Other areas include Downtown Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood.
Silicon Beach is also home to a number of start-up incubators and accelerators, such as Amplify.LA, Science, Disney Accelerator, and TechStars Cedars Sinai. Several world-class universities, such as Caltech, University of Southern California (USC), University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the Claremont Consortium institutions (Pomona College, Scripps College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, and Pitzer College), several campuses of the California State University (including Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge (CSUN), and Fullerton), Pepperdine University, Loyola Marymount University, and Azusa Pacific University, and are situated within the region. RAND Corporation too is a long-standing member of this intellectual community. In the first six months of 2013, start-ups in Silicon Beach raised over $500 million in funding, and there were 94 new start-ups and nine acquisitions.

http://www.killgruz.com/ (CMG #18) This is a review of Glider 4 on a Macintosh SE. Glider 4 was written by John Calhoun and published by the now defunct Casady & Greene in 1991. The Windows port was released in 1995. Glider 4 is for Windows, 68k and PPC Macs. I've personally tested it in System 6 and System 7. This game requires that your Macintosh is able to run in 16 color or black and white mode, it'll crash otherwise. This game tested fine for me in Windows XP - Windows 7 without using any compatibility modes. http://homepage.mac.com/calhoun/Downloads.html There's also a BRAND NEW Glider game in the Mac App Store! During Founders' Week at Casady in February 2012 students, parents and alums enjoyed a Carnival and 65th Anniversary Birthday Party, Memorial Service for Dr. Robert B. Woolsey, Casady Club luncheon featuring Midge Woolsey '73, special memorabilia at the Gala and more!
After losing the first set, Kiki and Claire battled back through two more sets that both went to tie breakers, and won 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6(7-3). We were all so proud, and their teammates were all there when they came off the court. Kiki's big sister was right there in the thick of it (after winning her match), and cheered louder than anyone. We are so lucky to have kids who love each other so much. Go Cyclones!!!
