Andrea Jung (鍾彬嫻, pinyin: Zhōng Bīnxián) (born 1958) is a Canadian-American businessperson. She is the executive chairman and former CEO of Avon Products Inc..
Her mother is a Shanghai-born amateur pianist. Jung's father is a Hong Kong-born retired architect, formerly a partner at TRO Jung Brannen, who also taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Andrea Jung was raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Jung is a magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University and is fluent in Mandarin.
Jung was executive vice president of Neiman Marcus, where she handled issues regarding accessories, intimate women's apparel, cosmetics and children's wear. Before that, she was senior vice president, general merchandising manager, for I. Magnin. http://www.avoncompany.com/aboutavon/boardofdirectors/index.html&title=Board%20of%20Directors Jung joined Avon Products, Inc. in 1994 as the company's president in its product marketing group. She became president of global marketing in 1996 and executive vice president/president of global marketing and new business in 1997. Her responsibilities at that time centered primarily around market research, joint ventures and strategic planning. She then became president and chief operating officer, with responsibility for all business units of Avon worldwide. She has been on the company's board of directors since 1998. In November 1999, Jung was promoted to chairman of the board and chief executive officer.
Charles Peete "Charlie" Rose, Jr. (born January 5, 1942) is an American television talk show host and journalist. Since 1991 he has hosted Charlie Rose, an interview show distributed nationally by PBS since 1993. He has also co-anchored CBS This Morning since January 2012. Rose, along with Lara Logan, has hosted the revived CBS classic Person to Person, a news program during which celebrities are interviewed in their homes, originally hosted from 1953 to 1961 by Edward R. Murrow.
Rose was born in Henderson, North Carolina, the only child of Margaret Frazier and Charles Peete Rose, Sr., tobacco farmers who owned a country store. As a child, Rose lived above his parents' store in Henderson and helped out with the family business from age seven. Rose admitted in a Fresh Dialogues interview that as a child his insatiable curiosity was constantly getting him in trouble. A high school basketball star, Rose entered Duke University intending to pursue a degree with a pre-med track, but an internship in the office of Democratic North Carolina Senator B. Everett Jordan got him interested in politics. Rose graduated in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in history. At Duke, he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. He earned a Juris Doctor from the Duke University School of Law in 1968. He met his wife, Mary (née King), while attending Duke.
Claudia Jung (born Ute Krummenast April 12, 1964 in Ratingen, North Rhine-Westphalia), is a German Schlager singer and politician.
From 1974 till 1980 Claudia Jung attended the school Liebfrauenschule in Ratingen. As a child she took guitar lessons and during her schooltime she sang in the Amt-Angerland-Chor. Before her career in show business she worked as a photo lab technician, a dental assistant and a tourist guide in Italy. Every now and then she performed as a non-professional singer.
In 1984 she met the music producer Adam Schairer with whom she subsequently made experimental recordings. She made her first single releases in collaboration with Schairer and the composer and producer Jean Frankfurter as well as the lyricist Erich Offierowski. The debut album Halt' mich fest ("Hold me tight") was released in 1988. Since 1999 her albums have been produced by Hans Singer with André Franke as co-producer.
During her career, Claudia Jung has achieved multiple gold and platinum records. She has also been awarded various prizes such as the Echo-Preis, Goldene Stimmgabel and the Fred-Jay-Textdichterpreis. Jung has had duets with many international stars including Richard Clayderman (e.g. "Je t'aime mon amour"), Rosanna Perinic ("Domani l'amore vincerà"), Nino de Angelo ("Hand in Hand") and Cliff Richard ("Mistletoe and Wine"). She sings mainly in her native language, German, but has also interpreted songs in English, French and Italian.
Diane Eve Warren (born September 7, 1956), is an American songwriter. Her songs have received six Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe nominations, including one win, and seven Grammy Award nominations, including one win. She was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2001. Her success in the US has been paralleled in the UK, where she has been rated the third most successful female artist. Peter Reichardt, former Chairman of EMI Music Publishing UK, commented; "She's the most important songwriter in the world."
She was the first songwriter in the history of Billboard to have seven hits, all by different artists, on the singles chart at the same time. Warren owns a publishing company, Realsongs, which gives her control over her compositions. Meanwhile, her songs have been featured in more than 70 films or television shows.
Warren was born in Van Nuys, California, where she said she felt misunderstood and "alien" as a Jewish kid growing up. She says she was rebellious as a child and told NPR's Scott Simon that she got into trouble and ran away as a teen but returned because she missed her cat. She began writing music when she was 14. "Music saved me", she said. Warren also has said that her mother asked her to give up her dream of a songwriting career and take a secretarial job. However, her father continued to believe in her and encouraged her. She wrote the song "Because You Loved Me" as a tribute to her father for his encouragement.
