Bill Wilson: It's like any journey, Fred. It begins with the first step.
Bill Wilson: Thank you again, Smithie. For everything.::Dr. Robert 'Dr. Bob' Holbrook Smith: No. You got that backwards, Billy. I owe you to death.::Bill Wilson: Remember the very first day? "Make it snappy," you said. "I'll give you fifteen minutes." We talked for six hours. How far we've come together.::Dr. Robert 'Dr. Bob' Holbrook Smith: And brought a lot of people along with us.::Bill Wilson: A hundred thousand as I reckon.
Lois 'Lo' Wilson: How are you feeling?::Bill Wilson: Alright, I guess.::Lois 'Lo' Wilson: Can I ask you something? I guess I've been afraid... does it have anything to do with me? Your drinking?::Bill Wilson: No. It's not you. It's me.::Lois 'Lo' Wilson: Why? Why do you do it to yourself?::Bill Wilson: I've been standing here all afternoon asking myself the same question. Why? I look out the window and I watch all the normal people walking by. It's funny, I don't think I've ever felt really normal all my life... I mean like other people. I feel different, somehow. Like I don't quite measure up. Ever since I can remember I've had this feeling... deep down in my gut. Scared. I see people... laughing, at ease with each other. I'm on the outside looking in. Afraid, maybe, that I won't be accepted. And then, overseas, I found that a drink... a few drinks... makes me feel comfortable. Like I always want to feel. Gives me courage... to be with people... do things... to dream. The money, the success, the respect, it was all good for a while, but it never seemed enough. I always want... doubles of everything to make me feel alive, worthwhile inside. And then... it all began to slip away. I feel cheated. Angry. Always so full of fear. So I drank... more... and it makes it okay for a while. I convince myself that things will turn around tomorrow. Soon. That I'll make it all up for you, but it only gets worse. I... I keep promising you... others, myself, that's it, no more, going on the wagon, that's it. And I think I mean it, but... but the guilt... and the depression... I can't look in a mirror... or at you... especially... especially at you. I've stopped believing in everything. People. God. Myself. I know it sounds insane, Lois, but in spite of all this, what I want right now more than anything else... is another drink.

Woman: [referring to cigarettes] Funny, now that I know these things won't kill me, I don't enjoy them.
MacDonald: Caesar... Caesar! This is not how it was meant to be.::Caesar: In your view or mine?::MacDonald: Violence prolongs hate, hate prolongs violence. By what right are you spilling blood?::Caesar: By the slave's right to punish his persecutor.::MacDonald: I, a decedent of slaves am asking you to show humanity.::Caesar: But, I was not born human.::MacDonald: I know. The child of the evolved apes.::Caesar: Whose children shall rule the earth.::MacDonald: For better or for worse?::Caesar: Do you think it could be worse?::MacDonald: Do you think this riot will win freedom for all your people? By tomorrow...::Caesar: By tomorrow it will be too late. Why a tiny, mindless insect like the emperor moth can communicate with another over a distance of 80 miles...::MacDonald: An emperor ape might do slightly better?::Caesar: Slightly? What you have seen here today, apes on the 5 continents will be imitating tomorrow.::MacDonald: With knives against guns? With kerosene cans against flamethrowers?::Caesar: Where there is fire, there is smoke. And in that smoke, from this day forward, my people will crouch and conspire and plot and plan for the inevitable day of Man's downfall - the day when he finally and self-destructively turns his weapons against his own kind. The day of the writing in the sky, when your cities lie buried under radioactive rubble! When the sea is a dead sea, and the land is a wasteland out of which I will lead my people from their captivity! And we will build our own cities in which there will be no place for humans except to serve our ends! And we shall found our own armies, our own religion, our own dynasty! And that day is upon you... now!
Lisa: N-No...
Caesar: But now... now we will put away out hatred. Now we will put down our weapons. We have passed through the Night of the Fires. And who were our masters are now our servants. And we, who are not human, can afford to be humane. Destiny is the will of God. And, if it is man's destiny to be dominated, it is God's will that he be dominated with compassion and understanding. So, cast out your vengeance. Tonight, we have seen the birth of the Planet of the Apes!
Announcer: Ape Management... is in the hands of the apes.
Caesar: The King is dead. Long live the King! Tell me Breck, before you die - how do we differ from the dogs and cats that you and your kind used to love? Why did you turn us from pets into slaves?::Breck: Because your kind were once our ancestors. Because man was born of apes, and there's still an ape curled up inside of every man. You're the beast in us that we have to whip into submission. You're the savage that we need to shackle in chains. You taint us, Caesar. You poison our guts. When we hate you, we're hating the dark side of ourselves.

There's someone knockin' on my door
There's someone knockin' on my door
I think they're looking for me
I think they're looking for me
Pretend there ain't nobody home
Don't make a sound, don't even move
Don't give them nothing to see
I think they're looking for me
I got to run
I got to run
I got to run
I got to run
I got to run
There's someone crawling in my yard
There's someone creeping on my roof
There's someone tapping my phone
I feel it deep in my bones
They want to probe my intuition
They want to find out what I know
Why don't they leave me alone
Why don't they leave me alone
I got to run
I got to run
I got to run
Might be the catcher
Or the controller
Can't be too careful
I take precautions
They're very clever
I got to run
Faceless surgeons armed with razors
Cut out our imagination
(Repeat first verse)
(repeat chorus)
Faceless surgeons armed with razors
Cut out our imagination
It's a strange thing
Deadly reason
Razors cut with such precision
Probing deep without detection
Razors never lie
But it's all right
I think they're looking for me
I think they're looking for me
I think they're looking for me
Thank You kids!

Forward
Brace yourself!
There's someone knockin' on my door
There's someone knockin' on my door
Go ahead and rise above
See how far you get on top
Held down just to impair you
We know who's ahead of the game
You know who'll get the blame
You're in the grip of the controller
Do you really want it all back?
See how far you get on top
Held down just to impair you
It's the fear that you can't do right
See how you lose in your life
Cut down, they will impale you
Can you really get it on track?
You tried to make it all stop
Time will tell how much they denied you
You just got burnt by the controller
You just got burnt, the controller
You'll never know how to react
Your sucked to the very last drop
Time will tell what has been denied you
Are you clear in your mind and sight?
Are you clear right out of your head?
Angry at the things that have failed you
So you want to get it all back
You tried to make it all last
Tied down to control you
You just got burnt by the controller
You just got burnt, the controller
Go ahead and rise above
See how far you get on top
Held down just to impair you
We know who's ahead of the game
You know who'll get the blame
You're in the grip of the controller
We know who's ahead of the game
You know who'll get the blame
You're in the grip of the controller, controller
You just got burnt by the controller
You just got burnt
You just got burnt by the controller
You just got burnt
You just got burnt by the controller
You just got burnt
You just got burnt by the controller
Fear is the mind controller
Fear is the mind destroyer
Instill fear into the mind of the weak
And obtain the power that you seek
A method used since the dawn of time
Bet your ass you will fall in line
Fall in Line
Pain was granted to those who tried to stray from order
Trust is a flaw in every man's design and you are not worthy of mine
Worthy of mine
This is not
This is not the life I had in mind
This will not be the way I carry on
This is not the life I had in mind
I will not live under this veil
This is not the life I had in mind
I will not live under this veil
Over all that is spread out before me
I exist, above dismay, above fear
Over all that is exposed before me
I exist. I exist.
Fear in nothing, no man, no god
Fear in nothing, no words, no creed
Fear in nothing, no man, no god
Fear in nothing, no words, no creed
Over all that is spread out before me
I exist, above dismay, above fear
Above dismay, above fear
Over all that is exposed before me
I exist
