Saab JAS 39 Gripen
Turkuun saapuu kaksi Ruotsin Ilmavoimien Saab JAS39C Gripen taistelukonetta Skaraborgin 7. Lennostosta Såtenäsista. Såtenäsin tukikohta on Ruotsin Ilmavoimien Gripen -koulutuskeskus. Tukikohdasta toimii myös Ruotsin Ilmavoimien suuret nelimoottoriset Lockheed Hercules kuljetuskoneet.
Ruotsin ilmavoimat ottivat Gripenin ensimmäisen A-version käyttöön 1993 kun ensimmäinen 204 tilatusta Gripenistä toimitettiin Ruotsin Ilmavoimille. Viimeiset 69 tilatuista koneista olivat jo kehittyneempää Saab JAS39C Gripen versiota. Lisäksi 31 vanhempaa A-mallin Gripeniä modifioitiin C-malliksi. Lisäksi osa koneista on kaksipaikkaisia Saab 39B tai -D Gripeneitä. Tällä hetkellä Ruotsin Ilmavoimilla on n. 90 Gripeniä käytössä. Viimeinen Gripen toimitettiin Ruotsin Ilmavoimille 19.3.2015 kun kone numero 294 otettiin palvelukseen 17. Lennostossa.
Gripen kehitettiin alussa Ruotsin tarpeisiin, torjuakseen ja lyödäkseen potentiaalisena uhkana pidettyjen maiden hävittäjiä. Gripen on erittäin monipuolinen hävittäjä joka kykenee täyttämään laajan skaalan tehtäviä ilman maassa suoritettavia muutoksia. Gripen on varustettu nykyaikaisimmilla sensoreilla ja lentojärjestelmillä ja on helppo huoltaa ja korjata, myös maasto-olosuhteissa, asevelvollisten toimin, vähin resurssein. Gripen on kehitetty Ruotsin maantietukikohdille, joissa lentoon lähtö, laskeutuminen ja poltto-aine- ja ammustäydennykset voidaan toteuttaa vaativissakin olosuhteissa.
Gripen on ollut operatiivisessa käytössä vuodesta 1997. Järjestelmää päivitetään jatkuvasti uusimmalla teknologialla ja suorituskyvyllä vastatakseen muuttuvia operatiivisia tarpeita. Turku Air Show´ssa esiintyvät koneet ovat 2000-luvulla käyttöön otettua C/D- versiota. Uusimmat, Ruotsin ja Brasilian tilaamat Gripen NG (Next Generation) hävittäjät otetaan käyttöön neljän vuoden sisällä.
Gripen on operatiivisessa käytössä Ruotsissa, Etelä-Afrikassa, Tšekin Tasavallassa, Unkarissa ja Thaimaassa. Lisäksi The Empire Test Pilot School Iso-Britanniassa käyttää Gripeniä koelentäjäkoulutuksessa. Gripen on myös mahdollinen ehdokas korvaamaan Suomen Ilmavoimien F/A-18 Hornet hävittäjiä ensi vuosikymmenellä.

The Saab JAS 39 Gripen (English: Griffin) is a lightweight single-engine multirole fighter manufactured by the Swedish aerospace company Saab. It was designed to replace the Saab 35 Draken and 37 Viggen in the Swedish Air Force (Flygvapnet). The Gripen features delta wings and canards, as well as relaxed stability design and fly-by-wire technology.
In 1979, the Swedish government began development studies for an aircraft capable of fighter, attack and reconnaissance missions to replace the Saab 35 Draken and 37 Viggen. One of Saab's designs was chosen, and was developed into the JAS 39. Comparatively small relative to similar fighters, the Gripen has a top speed of Mach 2. Eight hardpoints allow it to carry various bombs and missiles, supplemented by the 27 mm Mauser BK-27 cannon. Its GE F404-derived Volvo-Flygmotor RM12 produces more than 80 kilonewtons (18,000 lbf) of thrust with afterburner, giving the aircraft a thrust-to-weight ratio of 0.97.
Beset by early problems with its avionics during flight testing, during which a prototype was lost, the aircraft entered service in 1997. Saab has since cooperated with other aerospace companies in marketing the aircraft internationally, and has achieved moderate success in Central Europe, South Africa and Southeast Asia. More than 264 Gripens have been delivered or ordered as of 2011.

Saab JAS 39 Gripen
Turkuun saapuu kaksi Ruotsin Ilmavoimien Saab JAS39C Gripen taistelukonetta Skaraborgin 7. Lennostosta Såtenäsista. Såtenäsin tukikohta on Ruotsin Ilmavoimien Gripen -koulutuskeskus. Tukikohdasta toimii myös Ruotsin Ilmavoimien suuret nelimoottoriset Lockheed Hercules kuljetuskoneet.
Ruotsin ilmavoimat ottivat Gripenin ensimmäisen A-version käyttöön 1993 kun ensimmäinen 204 tilatusta Gripenistä toimitettiin Ruotsin Ilmavoimille. Viimeiset 69 tilatuista koneista olivat jo kehittyneempää Saab JAS39C Gripen versiota. Lisäksi 31 vanhempaa A-mallin Gripeniä modifioitiin C-malliksi. Lisäksi osa koneista on kaksipaikkaisia Saab 39B tai -D Gripeneitä. Tällä hetkellä Ruotsin Ilmavoimilla on n. 90 Gripeniä käytössä. Viimeinen Gripen toimitettiin Ruotsin Ilmavoimille 19.3.2015 kun kone numero 294 otettiin palvelukseen 17. Lennostossa.
Gripen kehitettiin alussa Ruotsin tarpeisiin, torjuakseen ja lyödäkseen potentiaalisena uhkana pidettyjen maiden hävittäjiä. Gripen on erittäin monipuolinen hävittäjä joka kykenee täyttämään laajan skaalan tehtäviä ilman maassa suoritettavia muutoksia. Gripen on varustettu nykyaikaisimmilla sensoreilla ja lentojärjestelmillä ja on helppo huoltaa ja korjata, myös maasto-olosuhteissa, asevelvollisten toimin, vähin resurssein. Gripen on kehitetty Ruotsin maantietukikohdille, joissa lentoon lähtö, laskeutuminen ja poltto-aine- ja ammustäydennykset voidaan toteuttaa vaativissakin olosuhteissa.
Gripen on ollut operatiivisessa käytössä vuodesta 1997. Järjestelmää päivitetään jatkuvasti uusimmalla teknologialla ja suorituskyvyllä vastatakseen muuttuvia operatiivisia tarpeita. Turku Air Show´ssa esiintyvät koneet ovat 2000-luvulla käyttöön otettua C/D- versiota. Uusimmat, Ruotsin ja Brasilian tilaamat Gripen NG (Next Generation) hävittäjät otetaan käyttöön neljän vuoden sisällä.
Gripen on operatiivisessa käytössä Ruotsissa, Etelä-Afrikassa, Tšekin Tasavallassa, Unkarissa ja Thaimaassa. Lisäksi The Empire Test Pilot School Iso-Britanniassa käyttää Gripeniä koelentäjäkoulutuksessa. Gripen on myös mahdollinen ehdokas korvaamaan Suomen Ilmavoimien F/A-18 Hornet hävittäjiä ensi vuosikymmenellä.
