[Chuck D - scratched: "the hard rhymer"]
Word.. word..
T-t-t-tiggidy-tell 'em what to do money
[Chuck D - scratched: "tellin you to hear it"]
True.. true..
Yeah..
[Tony D]
No holdin back, when it's time to attack
Like Saddam Hussein - you're wack and insane (word)
And I'ma crack your brain like an egg-ah
and make ya beg, for mercy
Cause this is raw as raw gets
Take off the jeans and put on the sweats
and get loose, this ain't a gimmick or a trick
Step in my path and I'ma break that stick
with the quickness - cause Tony don't play that
Get the fuck out my face or I'ma spray that mug
and you'll say why'd I bug
As you tried to sweep the dirt, under the rug
But ask the question, why is he buggin, why is he trippin?
But little did he know that that was poison he was sippin
And you can drink it dowwwwn
then (what?) You won't be around
So long live the posse the one and only
Who's the phony? That other Tony
You can't stab me I got eyes in my back..
.. cause Tony don't play that
[Chorus]
[scratches] Tony don't play that
[scratches] Tony don't play that
[scratches] Tony don't play that
[scratches] ..
[Tony D]
Tony don't play that, and here's a reason to play dis
It's [??] all the shit on your playlist
with all this tooth fairy, twinkletoes, Peter Pan rap
It sounds good to hear somebody snap..
.. once in a while, y'knowhatI'msayin? I mean flip it up switch it up
Or if not - you might as well give it up
But don't be an indian giver
And try to relive the past cause all you had
was a sliver of a piece of cake, you couldn't even partake
Sittin there sayin to yourself you can make
a comeback, but you was never in the front
In my estimations you was never in the hunt
You wasn't in the thick of it, you couldn't stick with it
so quit it (I quit!) Done did it
from the jump start, I kept tellin you you was wack (word)
And Tony don't play that
[Chorus]
Tony ain't..
[scratched: "nothing to play with"]
[Tony D]
My name ain't Paco and I ain't eatin no taco
So don't come up to me talkin, "Alright Rocko"
Cause damn - I said I know who I am
So you don't have to remind me everytime you shake my hand
Point blank, understand, don't you think I noticed?
There's a mirror in my room, that would clearly show this
I have 20/20 vision and my vision's never blurry
Don't worry - what are you in a hurry?
Or waitin for a call from Fiji
My name ain't Luigi, I'm not at your car with a squeegee
Or all at your feet with a cup talkin WHATTUP
or beggin - like some young punk
Cause I'm definitely in this, and very very generous
But on the other hand YOU, you're penniless
Pity this? Hell no, I get rid of this
And take it to your mom and she said, "Look what you did to this!"
What did I do to him; you oughta be glad I took him home
He can't even walk, because I broke nearly every bone
But besides the point, be thankful that he's back..
.. cause Tony don't play that
[Chorus]
[Tony D]
Tony don't play that, word
[Tony D]
Style within yes, there is no goal too grim
I teach the way yo, to match the color of my skin
So get it right y'all, my family had to organize
Comin over on a boat you see they had to realize
that they were one yes, in a nation of so many
Nationalities of people, knowledge we had plenty
as an equal, but still some considered us an outcast
Names like guinea and wop, is what was used in the past
to describe us nonetheless we kept our head up
Knowin in the future we shall all drink from the same cup
Unity is what I'm strivin for G, so let it be
Ebony and ivory in our community in harmony
Livin, perfectly together as a whole
From the bottom of South Africa to the North Pole
When I look at a human you can say I'm color blind
Cause I see them with my eyes but I judge them with my mind
Stop racism
[Tony D]
Hardheaded individuals say media blow up
is the cause of all racism, it's mentally throw up
So grow up and learn that the problem exists
Like Markie said, we gotta unball our fists
and put away the bats and throw away the knives
and get rid of the guns, that can hurt the lives
of our children, you see I pray for the future
It was once quoted, to let knowledge uproot ya
To build as one, and elevate and keep climbin
Stop racism, the cause that I'm rhymin
I can't wait for the twenty-first century
It's gotta happen now, cause that's the way it's meant to be
But you say how, can we do this you gotta put your mind to it
And know like Bo and just run right through it
My conclusion to the topic will be racism MUST end
Apartheid you're THROUGH with the message I send
Stop racism
[Tony D]
There's a handful of people I'm unable to reach
It's like tryin to find a certain grain of sand on the beach
A few friends of mine said it's a worthless cause
Like Run-D.M.C., it'll only "Pause"
and keep goin, some people will remain prejudiced
It's my job to make 'em see through the fog in their midst
Would it suffice this is the church, and this is the steeple
There's many religions, but there's only two people
That's man and woman, and woman and man
And if I can I'ma make 'em understand
That twenty years after Martin Luther King
It's still the same 'ol thing
We fed the world, and saved the farms
We even greeted the homeless with open arms
But when it comes to racism and apartheid
The people run away and try to hide
That's not the answer, the problem can be solved by you
I'm doin mine, now what you gonna do?
Stop racism
[Tony D]
Yo, the message I send is racism MUST end
Not only in South Africa but here in the U.S.
and everywhere else in the country in the world
on the planet for that matter y'knahmsayin?
Blacks and whites, reds, greens, yellows, oranges
Everybody must live, AS ONE, as man is supposed to be
Yo, my labelmate Bob Marley, step to 'em!
Thanks Fats!
And now, the outrageous contagious
Stupendous tremendous Tony D (do it!)
[Tony D]
Enter with the swing, bada boom bada bing
It's a Tony D raw type of hype type of thing
Not attackin or killer birds (worrrrd)
Wearin glasses like "Revenge of the Nerds"
You need to, look at yourself in the mirror (in the mirror)
But wait, let me make the picture clearer
for you no-soul havin, knowledge of self braggin
perpetrating (?) wearin who had to pay for your backin
Three G's a-piece just to appear on your video
That all gets recouped from your royalties y'know
So yo, be yourself, don't make me abolish
(What?) "Oh shit!" Your shoe polish
["Tony D's an inspiration.. and his name is Tony D"]
["Tony D's an inspiration.. Tony D'll put you down on the scoop"]
[Tony D]
Snakes never last so make your funny face
+3rd+ who? (Who?!) I'm gonna put you in your place
Puttin down your own people that's a pretty low level
Whoever gave you knowledge must be wrong
Fulfilled in what the devil SELF-TAUGHT
Everything I have is self-learned (TRUE!) In other words, earned
When I stepped to CBS, yo, they was with it
They said, "You got another white rapper?" I said, "Quit it!"
I'm not gonna give you suckers what you want
A replacement for the group that you love to flaunt
Outspoken drug users drinkin beer on stage
(Nahh) Now they got you another Beast in the cage
["Tony D's an inspiration.. and his name is Tony D"]
["Tony D's an inspiration.. Tony D could be an MC too"]
[Tony D]
Gettin back to the painting (the painting) I mean the paintbrush
Shoe polish, in other words you ain't much
of a rhyme more like a two-timer (two-timer)
And for your partner he's a good jock climber
Climbin my tree like he was Paul Bunyan
If I'm an avocado does that make you an onion?
If you're not yourself, does that make you a different person?
Nahhh, it makes the situation worse
and so conduct yourself, in a PROPER manner (in a proper manner)
And put away the pucker up banner (BANNER)
Your self-imposed status, I have to abolish
along with your image of the shoe polish
["Tony D's an inspiration.. and his name is Tony D"]
["Tony D's an inspiration.. and his name is Tony D"]
["Tony D'll put you down on the scoop"]
["Tony D'll put you down on the scoop"]
[Tony D]
In the shoe polish, you take a bath
You gotta learn your history before you conquer math
You rub it on your body thinkin you'll get knowledge
But you get an education from school and college (word!)
A teacher might have you taught you right, but you've learned wrong
It shows within the writing of your song
Your product's so weak you formed a negative image
But yo (SUCKER!) Life's not a scrimmage
You act far from simonized like you was magic
"Oh shit!" But the outcome may be tragic
You'll have to wait a couple of years to retaliate
While I abolish your image I call the shoe polish
["Tony D's an inspiration.. and his name is Tony D"]
["Tony D's an inspiration.. and his name is Tony D"]
["Tony D's an inspiration.."]
["Tony D's an inspiration.."]
[Tony D]
Yeah you weak and wack MC wannabe somethin that you're not
Warlock reject, Def Jam had you on ice for three years
until they needed another replacement for the Beastie Boys
Now they got you sucker!
Yeah, you hold the mic like an ice cream cone Mr. Softee
Marshmellow head buttercup MC
Yo you'll never get with Tony D
That's why Chuck wouldn't go on tour with you devil
Yo, and what's up with your dancers?
Don't ever take the name of a prophet and misuse it in any way
Even Tony D knows that, you sucker!
And now I'm out of here for the 90's
[Verse One: ??]
Listen to me brother, so we can discover
why they will not play this
Their minds are enslaved with, this commercial style
But meanwhile rap is exiled
off of the radio, not on the playlist
No rotation, so listen when I'm statin that
this style, may not sell many units
It's just to protect the rep of our music
We gave birth to the sound of the 90's
And most of you who sing, can't deny me
that rap rhythm, now makes you a livin
But who will listen to the rhyme that's given?
What do you fear most, about the sound that we're teachin
To tell the truth is my reasonin
Seems to me that the radio should play the truth
to enlighten, today's black youth
Cause your education's not teachin them
It only weakens them, and they rebel to violence
I can not be silent, kick the petty rhyme
pick up my royalty check and keep slimin
as if there was nothin wrong, this indeed
is a sell-out, and that is not the way I go out
I was put here to give enlightenment
But there are some who want to change my writin
into somethin which I can not be
A sell-out MC, let me be free
to do what I do best without all the preachin
Yo Tone - why can't we teach them?
[Chorus]
Listen to me brother.. YO THIS IS FOR THE CHILDREN
Listen to me brother.. [Chuck D: "suckers never play me"]
Listen to me brother.. IT'S STRICTLY FOR THE KIDS
Listen to me brother.. [Chuck D: "suckers never play me"]
[Verse Two: ??]
Yo "radio" black radio
pull their rap out, for fear of a whiteout
They sellout like suckers and come from out their position
Fear the man on the mission but didn't bother to listen for
lessons instead, you let the critics discriminate
Put a twelve on the 12 but still you don't let it rotate
You're prime time, just another rhyme I can dance so
I loaded my lyrics and then I pumped them like ammo
Through the heart of the ghetto it's time that they know the truth
Rap music is television to mind of black youth but
the system's corrupt, they watch us all self-destruct
Instead of knowledge of self, they teach to sell-out for wealth
So take 'em back to your army, that [?] outsell
P.E. knew the time, Chuck D would fight and rebel
Follow the Minister entered to teach a lesson to all
Yo the suckers won't play this cause this is yo' "Final Call", so
[Chorus]
Listen to me brother.. DJ'S STOP SLEEPIN
Listen to me brother.. [Chuck D: "suckers never play me"]
Listen to me brother.. PROGRAM DIRECTOR, WAKE UP
Listen to me brother.. [Chuck D: "suckers never play me"]
[Tony D]
(Tell them!) Yo "radio" give me some airplay
If rap was a golf course, that'd be the fair/fareway
And we'd run through the charts like Herschell
But daytime's only for commercial
material, man who you tellin?
Despite the lack of play we're STILL sellin
more, units, than ever before
Flyin in and out of your record store
It's hip-hop, stronger than ever
Ain't no stoppin us now, the time is never
Thanks to you and your lack of promotion
.. there's been a video explosion
Four o'clock kids be glued to the TV
You think they're tuned to you? Man, believe me
they're not - eyes are fixed to the cable
As of now forget the turntable
Until late at night when you might hear a rap show
Thirty-five and down be tuned to the flow
As your daytime dull [?] pleases the old heads
I'll be coolin with the kids and the dreas, so
[Chorus]
Listen to me brother.. YO IT'S HERE TO STAY
Listen to me brother.. [Chuck D: "suckers never play me"]
Listen to me brother.. RAP WILL NEVER DIE
Listen to me brother.. [Chuck D: "suckers never play me"]
[MC Lyte: scratched] "I know who I am"
[Tony D]
I know who I am, and you can clearly see this
Somebody else there's no reason to be this
type of person, but you say what the heck?
.. and get no respect
Wearin sideburns that went out with Elvis
Thinkin you got soul just by pumpin your pelvis
Think again, you need to get out the basement
Cause to me you're just another replacement
+New+ hyped up +Kids on the Block+, actin delerious
But rap's not a joke my brother, get serious
Suckers, yeah, we can surely pay 'em
if they act like the Beastie Boys until the A.M.
Step my way and I'ma school you like college
+Nice+ no longer, so +Serch+ for knowledge
Thinkin you know somethin about, what you know nothin about
.. so I'm takin you out
To the Apollo, remember, footsteps you follow
of another man, whose head is hollow
Do for you and I'ma do for me
That's the plan - I know who I am
[MC Lyte: scratched] "I know who I am"
"but we are who we are"
[Tony D]
Black is black, and white is white
There's no changin, or rearrangin
this subject, cause that's the way it has to be
I'm fillin my mind up to capacity
with knowledge of self I know who I am
I'm not down with the kiss-ass program
I say what I want, cold do what I want
It's my prerogative, as long as I'm positive
But sometimes a nasty wants to step with the oppression
Which becomes, quite costly, in other words expensive
and extensive to your health so I wouldn't recommend this
Damage, could be tremendous
So forget it be yourself, stop worryin about what Tone done
You got to +3rd Bass+, I hit the home run
Damn! I meant to say the grand slam
cause I know who I am
[MC Lyte: scratched] "I know who I am"
"but we are who we are"
[Tony D]
While I'm smilin on Island you're not peakin you be speakin
the weakened stuff, so I'm callin your bluff
with an extension, this I'd like to mention
The capital city where I'm from we call Trenton
NJ, then say where
A question, but here's a suggestion
Look on the map because I'm done givin information
about my jam(?) until he switched the story
And continue with the verbal assault
An onslaught, for this time I fought
You got caught, with your mouth hangin open now you're hopin
.. that Tone be like not dopin
But I am and you can't understand I know who I am
The caucausian complexion of a tan man
And, if you are what you eat, I be fish and meat
and lotsa pasta hold the swine but not the lobster
cause I gotta, watch my cholesterol
And prove to y'all who's the best of all MC's
and make you understand.. I know who I am
[MC Lyte: scratched] "I know who I am"
"but we are who we are"
[Tony D]
Yo just a reminder that umm
y'know, the man with the, the minus sign behind his name
had a good saying - be yourself or you might find yourself by yourself
[BEEP!] "Information, may I help you please?"
"Yeah I'd like the number of uhh, Harvey Wallbaner please?"
"Uhh let me get you my superior"
("More powerful..")
[Tony D]
One-two, one-two, move over one-two
Mic checkin and checkin and checkin and checkin for you
Harvey Wallbanger's, back to bang walls
Lastin for hours and never takin a pause
Cause Harvey, that is his name
And any other Harvey's just ain't the same
Although it seems amusing ain't a damn thing funny
So get that smirk off your face, money
And let's simply take a ride on the wild side
And bust our ass on the rawhide
Sex packets? I don't need to try these
Cause Harvey's in there for the 90's
With the quickness, speed, and agility
Harvey - has the ability
to reach the seventh letter of the alphabet
So Troy Wonder - tell 'em who to get
[Chorus]
Harvey [..]
You gotta get Harvey [..]
What's his name? His name is Harvey [..]
You know what I'm talkin? Get Harvey [..]
[Tony D]
Take off the hat this ain't no time for fashion
Why? This is a time for passion
Yes, another Harvey summer
What? I'm cloggin pipes like a plumber
This ain't the desert put away the cactus
Harvey - never needed any practice
He was born with the skill and technique
Technic - since I'm on it let me speak
about my DJ, Troy Wonder on the fader
with the quickness, teamed up with the fitness
Now who in the world has a faster wrist
Nobody tell 'em why Troy [Rakim] ("cause I've mastered this")
Yes you heard it from the grapevine
Get the hell off mine - cause it's Harvey time
Barring further adieux, I must get the job done
("Let's have some fun..") with Harvey
[Chorus]
Harvey [..]
[..]
It's Harvey [..]
[..]
[Tony D]
There's a knock at the door, yo guess who's here
Harvey? Nah, Jimmy the Queer
And Jimmy's just a little squirt kind of a Pee Wee Herman
Homeboy be like squirmin
Loose like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle
I fit tight like a girdle
And when I quote I float note for note
So there's no need to ("CLEAR MY THROAT!")
Cause Harvey's skill you could never measure
So sit back relax and enjoy the pleasure
Harvey stays stiffer to the break of dawn
and goes ("on and on...")
Flowin like a river, passin your liver
Long enough to make your backbone shiver
Goosebumps, make you feel like you're numb
And it takes a long time 'til he says ("I'm comin!")
[Chorus]
It's Harvey [..]
It's Harvey [..]
It's Harvey [..]
Harvey [..]
[Tony D]
Now when it's time to stroke ("GO!") Harvey ain't no joke ("GO!")
Boxers get hot so you might see smoke ("GO!")
but never burnin, cause I like to examine
snatch, before I start rammin
Harvey, the new shit for the summer
Like neon, so put your pink on
or your blue on, or even your red on
Cause even in the dark I'm dead on.. target
And I never miss ONCE!
I'm always hittin the cunts
For the 90's, most definitely in there
Freaks of the world beware..
[Chorus]
It's Harvey [..]
It's Harvey [..] yeah you know what I'm sayin baby
It's Harvey [..] you wanna get stanky? Yup
It's Harvey [..] so get out your notes, your pad and pencil
Cause this is the explanation
For the 90's, most definitely in there, y'knowhatI'msayin?
The family, most definitely got, the big Harvey's y'knowhatI'msayin?
Troy Wonder got the Harvey, [?] got the Harvey
Ministers of Black got the Harvey
YouknowhatI'msayin? [BLEEP] got the Harvey
Poor Righteous Teachers most definitely got the Harvey
So now you know what a Harvey is, I must say
[Tony D]
Greetings - how's that for a formal
introduction which seems quite normal
'Til I push the H-Y-P-E button
Then.. all of a sudden
A change in the format with reckless abandon
Rush the stage and start commandin
the mic, but the mic's not cordless
Mine is, cause I can afford this
type, of mic you like without the cord
that you can't afford cause the Lord
is takin over for the sell-out
Bust the mic 'til your eighteen inch fell out
your bass bottom - now I got 'em
He tried to take it back so I shot him
with a double barrel, semi-automatic shotgun
You say it's weak but you ain't got one
Cause you be frontin witcha fake plastic uzi
YO (yo) you need to save that for Suzy
Chapstick, witcha overhangin fat lip
Plussin out the cracks with the Vaseline grip
So wake up, you need to learn the correct date
I'm the one that get the job done, I'm great
Cooperate with respect
when Tone's in effect, cause I'm in
[Rakim: x4] "E.F.F.E.C.T."
[Tony D]
This is, the non-violent way that I kill
Puttin heads to bed, like NyQuil
Flyin knots, so go fly a kite (true)
High enough to get struck by light-ning
A key is tied to the string
To cause a shock, words that'll sting
from a killer bee, but don't touch the honey
Pockets so fat it's translated means money
and power, and sprayin thoughts like a shower
to blossom and bloom like a flower
But please, don't confuse it with a daisy
I dance even dirtier than Patrick Swayze
So work out, with the number one video
And watch me bust a rhyme on my man Arsenio
Hall Show, I think you should know
I'm Tone with the skintone that seems to glow
like snow, that keeps fallin to the earth
Take your rhymes to the pawn shop, see what they're worth
Nothin, cause your rhymes ain't top notch
So sit back relax and watch, cause I'm in
[Rakim: x4] "E.F.F.E.C.T."
[Tony D]
Now when I'm in effect that means I'm in the mode
to move, cause I never been sued or sold
You see you need to be told
The weak style of rap you're usin, is old
and worn out, that's why you never get a turnout
All you're ever gonna be, is a burnt out MC
You see you'll never be a hero
So listen sweetheart, you need to cut that zero
Like my man Doug said, the opposite is a bug-bed
or a bedbug, so roll out the red rug
or carpet, you need to just park it
Before I use your crown as a target
at the gallery, or a shoot 'em up movie (bang)
The beat is kinda groovy
But is it smooth enough to be selected for the quiet storm?
Yes, because it's soft and warm
So let the storm keep brewin
Now ask yourself, hey Tone whatcha doin?
Eventually, you'll soon come to realize
I keep my eyes on the prize, cause I'm in
[Rakim: x4] "E.F.F.E.C.T."
[time passes]
Another Two-Tone production's most definitely in there for the 90's
Y'knowhatI'msayin? Gotta keep it raw, cause that is most definitely..
[scratched: "the way it should be"]
Yeah, y'knowhatI'msayin? Do it like this - wonderfully done
[Tony D]
One, more, time I come again with the style and the fashion
It seems to me that some lost their passion
to create, a new level in your rhymin
Make your rap, like a mountain, and proceed to start climbin
Higher and higher, reachin the peakin (of perfection)
So damn high no one can break my concentration
Stabbin and jabbin a rhyme into your membrane
Put you in an institution for the mentally insane
Cause you're crazy, lazy, definitely not the one that pays me
And shit like that, seem to never ever faze me
Never offended because I stay on the offensive
Expensive extensive, never reprehensive
Take back, make that wack rap stay wack
Feedback you hack, is nothin but four clap
And on to the break of dawn of daylight's crack
And in case you're wonderin Troy "got my BACK!"
And I got the front covered with the thickness and the quickness
Like a bubonic plague, it's a SERIOUS sickness
for me to cut you up and make you bleed in need of nurses
Cause one must agree I do be droppin funky verses
[Chorus: x4]
[KRS-One] "Funky funky funky funky funky hit records"
[scratched: "droppin funky verses"]
[Tony D]
I do be droppin funky verses nailin suckers with a hammer
But before, I continue I will check with my programmer
See cause suckers are like [??] loves us
And in case you didn't know by the shit is.. "funky enough"
[Interlude: x4]
["won't stop rockin" - Run-D.M.C."]
[scratched: "funky enough"]
[Tony D]
Funky enough, so get your hand off the rewind button
Huffin and puffin but suckers ain't sayin NOTHIN
Talkin and sqwakin, like a bird you do be chirpin
When I'm droppin funky verses it seems feelings I be hurtin
Breakin your teeth off into pieces of a puzzle
Your mouth was open, so I shut it with a muzzle
Rappers come in limos and they leave in hearses
"think about it" - cause I be droppin funky verses
[Chorus]
[Tony D]
I do be droppin funky verses never holdin them inside
I'm releasin when I'm speakin form is perfectly in stride
For the 90's with the [?] with the speed with the agility
Of course on the two turntables Troy has the ability
to slice and dice and chop and grind whatever's on the menu
Cuttin shit up, like an oriental ginnsu
knife slicin dicin choppin wait a minute
"Freeze!" Troy Wonder "if you please"
Drop the beat and let me rock it acapella
Make it clear so they can hear me tell a
gathering of people exactly what's on my mind
You have to be creative in a song (what) when you rhyme
Not just another rap and then a dull-ass hook
It gets, kind of repetitious if you stop and take a look
in the mirror it'd be clearer if you'd practice your rehearses
And stop sellin out, keep on droppin funky verses
[Tony D] Sing!
"Yeahhhhhhhh-ahhhhhh.." - "Yeahhhh-ayahhh-ahhhh!"
"YeahhhhhhhhAYY-ahhhhhh.."
[Tony D] I can do that!
"YeahhhhhhhhAYY-ahhhhhh"
[Tony D]
It's time for grillin, mentally killin!
Weak-ass brain cells I'm fillin
UP, but not with gas I use diesel fuel
Yo, the weasels never rule - COOL!
Chill out, take a pill out the pill bottle
Pain killer to the throttle!
Huddle! Dwell about the movin
from the voice Tone puddle, stand in your own
beatdown, you went too FAR in your video
Brothers got hip to the flow
With the quickness, cause that's the way it goes
against the thickness, now everybody knows
[Chorus: x4]
"Don't fall for the gas line.."
"Don't.. don't.." [echoes]
[Tony D]
You should've thought about the name of your dancers (of your dancers)
Now it's eatin you away like cancer
On the double, trouble is the only thing you're makin
(makin) when your people equal bacon!
You should have KNOWN! You're not the one to try to teach
people you can't reach!
Hear me, clearly, you are merely near me
My mind's a wheel try to steer me
but you gotta take the right direction
In the mirror there's no reflection
Cause you're a devil, equal to the level of a zero
Yo, nobody's hero
As time goes on, don't be afraid to learn
Respect that's somethin that you got to earn
You can't achieve this, by wavin the pucker-up banner
I hear trouble on the scanner
[Chorus]
[Tony D] Break it down
[Flavor Flav: x4] "Hear ye, hear ye.."
[Tony D]
They say push it to the limit so I push a little harder
Like a surgeon, remove a part of your dome
as you tamper with each toy
But you forgot you were a bleach boy
I am who I am and that's a fact
I couldn't be somebody else I wasn't born to act
That's a statement, made by a couple of friends of mine
So I decided it's time
To bring back the attack cause you slack and you lack
potential, which is quite essential
The word of the third is absurd and unheard
Facts came out twisted from the mouth of a nerd
So keep tattlin, there's no need for battlin
I keep doin what I'm doin while you're rattlin
So keep hissin, and shootin out venom
to the public, when it's the truth I send them
"You haven't seen me, get down.
If you ever saw me get down, you'd really be afraid."
[PMD - scratch: "Check out the voice that is smooth and mild"]
["smooth" - "Tony", "smooth" - "D"]
[PMD - scratch: "Check out the voice that is smooth and mild"]
["smooth" - "Tony", "smooth" - "D"]
[PMD - scratch: "Check out the voice that is smooth and mild"]
["smooth" - "Tony", "smooth" - "D"]
[PMD - scratch: "Check out the voice that is smooth and mild"]
[Tony D]
Elevation! Check the foundation
Solid funky from the flamin caucasian
Heat it up, cook it up, bake it up, take it up
Slice it up, dice it up, tear it up, rrrrip it up
Cut it up - now it's time for me to switch it up
Tone's the maaaaaaaaan, who's gonna getcha up
outta your seat, movin your feet, groovin the beat
I won't stop 'til my job's complete
Cause I gotta make ya hyper, occupation sniper
Even little kids be dancin in their diapers
Suckers - be sayin, "Tone you ain't nothin"
But I got more flavor than Stove Top stuffin
Nuts - my favorite past time
Forget the last rhyme cause you can't gas mine
like Sunoco you go bum loco
Visit Acupulco with your girlfriend Yoko, Ono
Bono, them messy tones are no no
You need posession of it? Fire the phono-
-graph you'll laugh but please the Island staff
Get off the mass - check the elevation
"Check out the - check out the voice that is smooth and mild" [x4]
[Tony D]
Second stanza - kick the virtuoso
You're just a bozo..
A so-so rhymer, climber, check the Guggenheimer
One's just a number so don't be a two-timer
when you rhyme-a, one way furniture mover..
Bust the Heimlich maneuveur!
Full nelson, I like to eat smelts and other fish
like candy cause it melts in your mouth
And it's also good brain food
Since you're a lame dude, you should eat a whale
Crude oil - spilled over from the Exxon Valdez
It was the captain's fault
Now said the media, really, but what do they now?
Sittin home twiddlin their thumbs in Play-Doh
Fed it to a critic but a critic is a cricket
and they know where they can stick it - check the elevation
"Check out the - check out the voice that is smooth and mild" [x4]
[Tony D]
Elevation - it's time to kick the third verse
I know you're weak homeboy but yo I heard worse
rappers, so do you feel any better?
Of course you do! Now write yourself a letter to your mom
As I drop the nuclear bomb
After the explosion everything is calm
Like Hiroshima, or maybe Nagasaki
That's what you get homeboy for bein cocky
Weaklin, you need to pump some iron
Out of breath, relax I hear the siren
from the ambulance - ah bring on the oxygen!
You're like Larry Holmes, you can't box again
You're out of your prime, I oughta show you how to rhyme
People in the audience are saying about time
somebody, did something about these weak suckers
Soft like Smuckers, check the elevation
"Check out the - check out the voice that is smooth and mild" [x4]
[Tony D]
This is the last one, yo I pulled a fast one
You did the dummy move so I'ma gas one
UP, UP AND AWAY
I'm gonna sail a sucker today
Without the use, of a beautiful balloon
I'll hit him with an uppercut and send him to the moon
Like Ralph Kramden, smackin up Alice
There's no kings and queens and no palace
So check it, let me manifest it
You think you dressed it but I'm the one who blessed it
Christened it, with a champagne bottle
Remove the governor and give it more throttle
In a battle, snakes they like to rattle
Competi-shion, a few swine and some cattle
Watch me saddle, up on my high horse
And breeze on my course, check the elevation
[Tony D]
Yo money, here's a funky-ass bassline
Like a ray from the sun you taste sunshine
All in your face and there's no doubt about that jack
They see me on the stage and people say well how bout that?
Sure he's kinda funky, original and spunky
I'm the guy, in the Bugle Boy jeans, and your the monkey
Ridin on the escalator of life, always stayin idle
.. when it comes to your recital
You never elevate your rigormortis stay in motion
But you're EFFORTLESS, when it comes to the rest
of what you can't even hang, you can't even swing
They say stop battlin rhymin, I say I'm doin my thing
When it's time to give a message that's appropriate I give it
That's the way I live my life and that's the way I choose to live it
So get off mine, when it comes to the rhyme
And just, do your job and write your line
Buggin on the zig-zag
[Tony D]
This is a jam about the headlines and the backtalks
The editorial memorial wack talk
that I like to classify condemn then quarantine
when you listen to it, or read it in a magazine
False advertisement in the media ain't no joke
It's a lie that they know, and quote exactly what you spoke
They like to make up shit and maybe change a word or two
When was the last time you suckers, heard a few
questions or comments or complaints from the public
I needed a name for the media so I dubbed it
Zig-zag, meaning this is meaningless scrabble, scribble
They like to let the ink dribble
out of their pens and into the minds of the youth
.. falsifying the truth
So, stop the pressed cause them assist the town crier
You got voted, number one liar
Buggin on the zig-zag
[Rakim] "I can't hold it back, I'm lookin for the line.."
[Tony D]
Situations, seem to get blown out of proportion
That's why THIS is a means of extortions
When it's time to zig-zag, they be zaggin and ziggin
by usin a pen like a shovel then it's time to start diggin
up dirt, to make the front page headlines work
But you're nothin but a ballpoint jerk
who's just SITTIN THERE, lookin stupid at your typewriter
Tryin to make the noose, just a little bit tighter
around my neck, but I slipped it and did a backflip
Landed on your typewriter, then I smashed it
against the wall then I trashed your whole office
Just to let you know that the D ain't the softest
It was said before, I'ma say it again my friend
"Don't Believe the Hype," 'til the end
So get off mine, when it comes to the rhyme
And just, do your job and write your line
Buggin on the zig-zag
[Tony D]
Yo that weak and wack zig-zaggin
Taggin up them headlines with that wack negative garbage
ain't gonna last, y'knowhatI'msayin?
So let me say like this, I must say what's up
to the six foot and over posse, rulin things for the 90's
Y'knowhatI'msayin? Also to my man SP and Davy Wavy
Y'knowhatI'mtalkin? My man Troy Wonder
Of course you know who the family is
And anybody else I forgot, we most definitely in there for the 90's
Cuckoo.. cuckoo.. cuckoo.. cuckoo..
Cuckoo.. cuckoo.. cuckoo.. cuckoo..
[Tony D]
At first you might have thought this was a song from the Blackbyrds
Nope.. it's a song about crack birds
The way they conduct themselves is absurd
I'm talkin about the feather crested wheezy woolie bird
Her body - is shriveled up like a prune
She's always chirpin that same ol' tune
On a mission, just to get a shoulder boulder
A bump, a pellet, so yo, I told her
to wise up - get your pants sized up!
Stop walkin around, with your eyes shut
It seems to me that you don't care if you have dirty knees
(yeah I know why) "you got the birdie disease"
[Chorus]
[scratching "You got it!" x3]
"You got the birdie disease"
[scratching "You got it!" x3]
"You got the birdie disease"
[Tony D]
Lips for dips, dips for lips
While she's rubbin the T.D., you ease the hips
cause she don't care, she'll let you wax that ass
As long as her purple lips are on that glass
Cause she's a friendship bird, don't confuse it with a bug
A friendship bird, knows how to thoroughly search a rug
for a pebble, they know is not there
She's fiendin for more so she leaves she don't care
cause she's off.. on a brand new mission
To search the couch and perhaps your seat cushion
She comes up with a nickel a penny and a quarter
That's thirty-one cents, maybe more and she can order
a pellet, to burn it and smell it
Anything you had - she'll try to sell it
Cause she's fiendin, she's moanin, she's cryin
She's beggin you please (but yo) "you got the birdie disease"
[Chorus]
[Tony D]
Ring around the rosie, a pocket full of crack
That's not where it's at, stop livin like that
On the hunt - stop tryin to be a stunt
If the jimmy was a [??] you'd smoke the blunts
So yo G, keep your eyes on your J-E-E-P
So don't S-L-E-E-P
Or you might be E-S-O-R or a Y
Go to the third eye with a bird eye, you gotta watch your back
Because the duck-billed platypus is known to quack in crack
Light as a feather she could blow away
with the slightest of a breeze "you got the birdie disease"
[Chorus]
[Tony D]
Last verse is the curse of the worst in history
I'm gonna quench your thirst with a mystery
Surroundin the subject is a fine specimen
The wheezy woozy bird gets the best of them
Never an [?] bird although they can be ruthless
It's hard for them to whistle cause they mouths is toothless
Bunions on they feet from her feather-crested hair
Dude there's nothin in the world, you could compare
to the smell of a skunk, kickin up funk
Pushin a shoppin cart full of junk
I wish they could put an end to this sleeze
and tell them, yo "you got the birdie disease"
