RS Components is the UK and European trading brand of Electrocomponents plc. The company supplies electrical and electronic components, tools, testing equipment and related items through the internet, catalogues and at trade counters. Electrocomponents is listed on the London Stock Exchange and in the last financial year ended 31 March 2014 had revenues of £1.27bn.
RS Components was founded by J.H. Waring and P.M. Sebestyen in 1937 in London under the name Radiospares supplying radio repair shops with spare parts. When televisions became popular, television parts were added to Radiospares' product list. By the end of World War II, the company had evolved into a large national distribution company. In 1954, the founders of Radiospares expanded the company's focus from shops and home users to the industrial sector and began selling electronic components. The company rebranded as RS Components in 1971.
RS now has operating companies in 32 countries, including France, Italy and Germany, with operations as far afield as Chile, New Zealand and China.
Electronics Weekly is a weekly trade journal for electronics professionals which was first published by Reed Business Information on 7 September 1960. It is available in print and electronic formats, and the readership is audited by BPA Worldwide, which verifies its circulation twice yearly. The magazine's circulation in 2007 was 40,918 copies. In August 2012 Metropolis International purchased the title from RBI.
Topics covered within the magazine include news and features on design, components, production and research, as well as news stories and product listings. Electronics Weekly is available free to qualified electronics professionals. The bulk of revenue received to fund the magazine comes from display and recruitment advertising.
ElectronicsWeekly.com is a website for electronics professionals and provides users with news, analysis, features and business stories. ElectronicsWeekly.com also provides information via blogs and RSS feeds.
In March 2015, ElectronicsWeekly.com launched EW Compare, a new comparison tool powered by OEMsecrets.com, a price comparison shopping engine for electronic parts and components. The comparison tool is integrated into product articles, so readers can search product news, compare and then buy online from authorized electronics distributors and manufacturers.
The Raspberry Pi is a series of credit card–sized single-board computers developed in England, United Kingdom by the Raspberry Pi Foundation with the intention of promoting the teaching of basic computer science in schools and developing countries. The original Raspberry Pi and Raspberry Pi 2 are manufactured in several board configurations through licensed manufacturing agreements with Newark element14 (Premier Farnell), RS Components and Egoman. The hardware is the same across all manufacturers.
All Raspberry Pis include the same VideoCore IV GPU, and either a single-core ARMv6-compatible CPU or a newer ARMv7-compatible quad-core one (in Pi 2); and 1 GB of RAM (in Pi 2), 512 MB (in Pi 1 models B and B+), or 256 MB (in models A and A+, and in the older model B). They have a Secure Digital (SDHC) slot (models A and B) or a MicroSDHC one (models A+, B+, and Pi 2) for boot media and persistent storage. In 2014, the Raspberry Pi Foundation launched the Compute Module, for use as a part of embedded systems for the same compute power as the original Pi. In early February 2015, the next-generation Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi 2, was released. That new computer board is initially available only in one configuration (model B) and has a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU and 1 GB of RAM with remaining specifications being similar to those of the previous generation model B+. The Raspberry Pi 2 retains the same US$35 price point of the model B, with the US$20 model A+ remaining on sale. In November 2015, the Foundation launched the Raspberry Pi Zero, a smaller product priced at US$5.

The Allis-Chalmers model B was a tractor produced by the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing company from 1937 to 1957. With over 125,000 units produced, the model B became one of the best selling tractors for Allis-Chalmers and most loved tractors of its time. Known best for its versatility and adaptability, the model B was also one of the longest production tractors for Allis-Chalmers as well. Over the years of production the B came in several different variations including the Asparagus B, Potato Special, and the IB industrial tractor. The Model B was designed by Brooks Stevens an industrial designer and graphic designer.
In the early thirties, Allis-Chalmers tractor division manager Harry Merritt studied the farm census figures and discovered that of the nearly seven million farms in America, some four million were of 100 acres (0.40 km2) or less. Furthermore, the million or so tractors at work on American farms were nearly all on the larger ones. Although the Fordson tractor and then the first-generation row-crop tractors, including the Farmall, Allis-Chalmers's own Model WC, and others, had been gaining significant market penetration and making mechanised agriculture ever more popular, Merritt concluded that there was a need for four million small, inexpensive tractors to fill the needs of the small farmers still using horses. Merritt set out to build the tractor that would finally put the horse out to pasture.

Now I have a Raspberry PI 3, I can look at how well the 7" LCD display works with it as a few people have been saying it does not work on the PI 3 ??. RS Components were kind enough to send me one for review and to create a few "How To's" along with a Power Adapter (The Official 2.5A PI 3 Version) and an official PI 3 Case. Well the good news is the 7" display does work and very well, certainly every bit as well as it does with Raspbian anyway and right out of the box too which is great news. In fact, using the right Control and some simple code you can easily configure a browser that can surf the net or local resources and I’ll show you a sample in the video, I will investigate this further in later posts. For now I demonstrate connecting to the Web interface of my FLIR AX8 Thermal ima...
