Charlotte 49ers close to completing 2015 football recruiting class

The Charlotte 49ers are close to wrapping up their 2015 football recruiting class, with 16 players committed.

Charlotte most recently got a commitment from defensive end Jamar Winston of Irmo, S.C., originally a member of their 2013 recruiting class who is playing this season at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College.

The 49ers, who will likely take one more player before national signing day in February, have two players rated as three-star prospects by Rivals.com: defensive back Nafees Lyon of Mallard Creek High and defensive end T.J. Smith of Colquitt (Ga.) County.

In addition to Lyon, the 49ers have commitments from two other Charlotte players, receiver Alex Barrow of Butler and Mallard Creek defensive end Randy Suydam. Receiver Nate Mullen of Harrisburg’s Hickory Ridge has also committed.

Here’s how they break down, position by position: defensive end (four), offensive line (three), defensive back (three), receiver (two), linebacker (two), H-back (two), linebacker (two):
