Alumni Awards

The Victoria University Alumni Awards celebrate and formally recognise the outstanding achievements and contributions of members of the alumni community in a diverse range of fields and areas of endeavour.

2014 Alumni Awards

Nominations have now closed for the 2014 Alumni Awards. Finalists will be announced in August and the formal awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday 22 October 2014. 

Distinguished Alumni Award

This preeminent award recognises the recipient’s exceptional contribution to a chosen field of endeavour, and their pursuit of excellence in everything they do.

To be eligible for this award the recipient must be a graduate of Victoria University or one of our predecessor institutions. Only one Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented each year. This award may recognise the nominee’s professional or creative career, or their community-related or volunteer work.

Selection criteria

  • is recognised as a leader in their field
  • has received formal recognition for their endeavours
  • demonstrates integrity and high ethical standards
  • exemplifies the pursuit of excellence in everything they do.

Young Achiever Alumni Award

This award recognises Alumni aged 35 or younger who have demonstrated significant achievements early in their career or chosen field of endeavour.

The Young Achiever Alumni Award is open to Alumni aged 35 years or younger at the time of the close of nominations (refer to timeline). This award will only be given to a graduate of Victoria University or one of our predecessor institutions. No more than two Young Achiever Alumni Awards will be awarded each year.

Selection criteria

  • demonstrates significant early career or community service achievements
  • has displayed innovative practices in their field
  • demonstrates integrity and high ethical standards
  • exemplifies the pursuit of excellence in everything they do.

Outstanding Student Alumni Award

This award will be presented to a current student who has demonstrated outstanding qualities in one or more of the following: student leadership, academic success, business initiatives, volunteer or community related work or extracurricular pursuits.

The Outstanding Student Alumni Award will only be given to a current (2014) enrolled student of Victoria University. The Outstanding Student Alumni Award will be awarded each year to no more than two students.

Selection criteria

  • has displayed outstanding student leadership and the ability to inspire fellow students
  • has excelled in their academic, professional or extracurricular pursuits
  • demonstrates integrity and consistently maintains high ethical standards.

Outstanding Service Alumni Award

The recipient of this award will have offered exceptional service to their local community or the Victoria University, Alumni or student community.

The award recognises the recipient as a lifetime friend of the University.

Previously known as the Honorary Lifetime Alumni Service Award, the Outstanding Alumni Service Award will be awarded to one member of the Alumni Community (including graduates, staff or industry partners) each year. Usually one Outstanding Alumni Service Award will be offered each year.

Selection criteria

  • has made an exemplary contribution to either Victoria University, the Alumni or broader community
  • demonstrates integrity and high ethical standards
